    Love it. Thank you so much. I'd forgotten just how useful water pipe is for all sorts of lightweight construction projects. I'd never really thought of cutting pipe, warming it up and bending it to shape.
    This is "everyday genius" in action.

    First off, GREAT VIDEO. Outstanding out-of-the-box thinking. My only comment is, if you're going the cheap route and you have a heat gun, instead of buying joints, just get yourself 3/4" piping and you can heat up the ends of the 3/4 inch pipe to force the 1/2 pipe into them. These can then be bent for the 90 degree connections or extensions(save yourself a couple of bucks).

    The the hot glue in the legs is a good idea. This stand would work well with a standard camera too. You just need to make the mount for it.
    Thanks for making the video!

    Nice! I've done a few mounts from belt clip cases and angle bracket tripod mounts. Love the simplicity of this design. I made one from 3/4" which I think works out great for the I6. still need to insert a plug and 1/4-20 hardware. I'm thinking my next version I will make a wood block template of the phone case to better shape the hot pvc, As well as a sanding block to fine tune the shaping

    I like it! I think I might cut out the bottom, and heat it flat, jb weld a 1/4 nut to bottom, to use it on a tripod.
    Thx for posting!

    • @stanfordcoffee
      @stanfordcoffee  8 лет назад

      +onemouse1 That would work, but you would need 2 nuts, one for landscape configuration (videos, and pictures), the other for portrait (pictures). Cheers

    USE Velcro. The best solution!
    2 pieces of Velcro. One on the dash (or any surface you may want to attach the phone TO), and other either on the back of the phone (Or phone) case). Be sure to clean the surfaces with alcohol before sticking on the Velcro.
    Simple and works really well.

    Stanfordcoffee. thank you. I just happen to have a piece of pipe that I cut a week ago. And I tell you, I am happy I came across this clip.
    I will be using some glue to place in the1/4-20 on the bottom, And maybe paint the pipe?Also some cushioning on the bottom and top inside.

    • @jacobspades8519
      @jacobspades8519 8 лет назад +1

      +stanfordcoffee a better way to mount it to a tripod would be to take a nut the size that fits the tripod and put it inside the pipe and ill it in with hot glue, if you know what I mean. but that's just my opinion. anyways nice vid. very helpfulthanks

    • @Milosz_Ostrow
      @Milosz_Ostrow 8 лет назад +2

      +Jabber Jabbinski - Save the hot melt glue for wood and paper projects. Hot melt glue is terrible stuff; it doesn't stick well to metal or plastics, and the torque that one might expect on a nut mounted in the way you describe would rip it out of the pipe the first time you try to use it.

      I use mine all the time. I found that the sand in the bottom legs helps to stabilize the Smartphone while taking video (if you're carrying it). I bend it around, until I find the balance point, and then it acts sort of like a steady cam. It illuminated a lot of the shakiness you get while filming with a smartphone. Just a thought. Cheers
      Yo uso la mía todo el tiempo. Me encontré con que la arena en las piernas inferiores ayuda a estabilizar el Smartphone al tomar vídeo (si lo lleva encima). Me inclino a su alrededor, hasta encontrar el punto de equilibrio, y entonces actúa como una especie de steady cam. Se iluminó una gran parte de la inestabilidad se obtiene durante el rodaje con un teléfono inteligente. Es sólo una idea. ¡Salud

    This looks great, I can't wait to give it a try! I don't use PVC very often, so my main question is what would you use to cut out the shape of the holder? I assume you can use a pipe cutter to shorten the whole tube, but it looks a bit trickier to actually use that same thing inside the tube itself.

    • @stanfordcoffee
      @stanfordcoffee  8 лет назад
