I firmly agree with Dusting Rogers, I work as a HGV driver and I transport machinery and I like to vlog but I needed something simple but very strong and sturdy and you Sir, NAILED IT. Kudos to you. I look forward in making this mount.
Thanks Rick! I was actually thinking the wing nut route as well but then I saw that little compression spring sitting there and sure enough it worked like a charm:) Gotta love the ol' junk drawer!
That's prerry cool. I made a mount fit my phone too but even more simple. Just got a super thin slim L bracket glued it wt very strong 3m tape to the cheap plastic phone case and drilled a hole in bracket and that's it.
Hey man, that's a great job you've done there! It's simple, yet very sturdy - exactly what I've been looking for! Thank you so much for sharing and best regards from South Africa!
You must have a lot of grey cells because this is absolutely genius. Just got the stuff from Home Depot. Putting it together now. Brilliant....Cheers...Allan Bass.
Allan Bass Thanks Allan:) I just like tinkering with stuff like this and it's worked well for my phone. I hope yours turn out awesome too! Thanks for watching:) Joe
Awesome! I think you'll be happy with the result... but now you've got me thinking about making one out of pallet wood now;) Thanks for watching Audra! Joe
This was a fantastic video! It certainly inspired me to check out my local hardware store, which I would image the total cost for all necessary items was just under $10. Thanks for the video and please continue to keep up the great work!
This is such a great idea! I'm going to be building this today, but would it be okay if I upload a video about it as long as I give you credit? Thanks.
Daniel Sparks Hey Daniel, That's fine with me... a mention of the channel would be great in the video if you could do it:) Let me know when you get her done and I'd be excited to watch it! Joe
Thanks Jess! Yep, just glue or epoxy it (i used epoxy) but glue or rubber cement would work too. And the 'background' boards road in your car to Marley's B-day party;)
Awesome work!! Question: Does the same mount work for "landscape" video as well as taking "portrait" orientation photos? Or would a separate mount be needed for the later using a longer bolt and spring?
Saeam Kim Hey Saeam, I used a band saw to cut mine but I've also used a 'hacksaw' with great success too. Ideally you can use a 'vice' to hold the PVC while cutting but if you don't have one then you can place the PVC on the edge of a porch or patio and step on it with your foot. This should keep it stable while you cut. I hope that helps:)
LOLO FELIX Hi Lolo, the tripod in the vid is from the 99cent store or big Lots... I can;t remember which. But you can also find them on Ebay for a couple bucks shipped as well. Hope that helps:) Joe
It's amazing how people think alike. Here I thought I had a novel idea only to log in and find others had approached the same problem slightly differently. I just posted a similar idea.

Very cool! I was thinking wing nuts but the spring is so much more practical. Thanks for putting this one out there.
Thanks Rick! I was actually thinking the wing nut route as well but then I saw that little compression spring sitting there and sure enough it worked like a charm:) Gotta love the ol' junk drawer!
Hey thanks for this! Simple, easy & looks like it will hold great without being to bulky or heavy. And easy to quickly attach too.
+Kat Wolf Glad you liked it Kat!

Nice videos
Let me tell you from all the one's i have seen so far this is the best idea dude thanks for sharing .
Definitely doing this! How did you cut pvc pipe?
I'm really late but if you haven't already you should try to make a pvc tripod for this holder
I like it! Great details and instruction, and nice background. :-) Did you just glue the foam pieces onto the PVC?
Thanks Jess! Yep, just glue or epoxy it (i used epoxy) but glue or rubber cement would work too. And the 'background' boards road in your car to Marley's B-day party;)
Wow, that is pretty handy!
+RedBeard Carpentry Thanks RB!
Nice
Very cool I think i'm going to make one and make a short video on it can I credit you and link your video?

unfortunatewitnessX yes.. just get a longer bolt and you'll be good to go! Thanks for watching:)
Tq for ideas
Awesome work!!
Question: Does the same mount work for "landscape" video as well as taking "portrait" orientation photos? Or would a separate mount be needed for the later using a longer bolt and spring?
Hi jmurg!
Yes, it can work both ways... but you would have to get a longer bolt to use... the same spring could be used though:)
Hope that helps:)
Was looing looking for a whar to set my phone in my jon boat think this will work well
+MrToyota73 Awesome! Thanks for watching MT!
joe
Your design is brilliant! Could use nylon cable clamps instead of pvc tubing?
I have a trouble with cutting PVC like L shape (in 2:18). what kind of tool did you use for it? can I cut like that at home depot?
Saeam Kim Hey Saeam, I used a band saw to cut mine but I've also used a 'hacksaw' with great success too. Ideally you can use a 'vice' to hold the PVC while cutting but if you don't have one then you can place the PVC on the edge of a porch or patio and step on it with your foot. This should keep it stable while you cut. I hope that helps:)
What is the name of that tripod and where can i find one?
LOLO FELIX Hi Lolo, the tripod in the vid is from the 99cent store or big Lots... I can;t remember which. But you can also find them on Ebay for a couple bucks shipped as well. Hope that helps:)
Joe
you could also buy a dollar store "selfie stick" and unscrew to phone clamp part
+Shintaro Dee Thanks for the tip:)
Yup. That's what I did. Dollar Tree carries selfie sticks. $1
It's amazing how people think alike. Here I thought I had a novel idea only to log in and find others had approached the same problem slightly differently. I just posted a similar idea.

Joe

Cristian Tuma No prob:)
+Cristian Tuma no dude, it's not compatible, only works with iOS devices, lol
