I think they should open a small number of spaces on Spring Weeks/Internships to final year students, as it disproportionately attracts those who are fully aware of spring weeks/grad recruitment...and have a good amount of experience, which probably means they’re at a target. When people at mid-tier/non target unis realise what IBD recruitment is like, graduate roles are mostly full.
Hello Afzal, Firstly, late #hbd to your sister! 🎉🎂 Secondly thank you for posting so many great videos, they’ve been super helpful to me trying to figure out the world of banking and finance. Finally I have a quick question about my situation: I’m French and entering my 2nd year of a 4 year undergrad degree at a French BS, I would like to know if I could still apply to insight weeks? Thank you
Thanks for the videos, they're really helpful! Could you talk about how bachelor's degrees and areas of study affect applying into IB? I'm considering applying to study economics/mathematical economics and maybe PPE in the UK but can't decide which. I think studying mathematics would be useful if I decide to do postgraduate study, would it also help when applying into IB? Also, how common is it that people from academia transfer into the financial industry?
Doing a video on this in the coming weeks. Long story short, degree discipline isn't the be all and end all. It's only 1 factor out of many (unless you are hoping to apply to very niche roles such as quantitative trading, in which case you'll need to study something very technical). As I say to many students who ask this question, focus on a subject you enjoy and can ace. You'll learn everything about the job on the job. Academia to finance is quite common.
Great information buddy!! Do u mind telling some ways to get internship for an international student who did bachelors not from UK or EU and has applied for a Masters in UK. This would be helpful for a major group of students. Thank you and best of luck mate!
Hello, Afzal. I am a 3rd-year student in Russia and I have realized that I missed an opportunity to visit an insight week when I was a freshman. Nevertheless, I am preparing for GMAT in order to get into a master's degree in the US. After this video, I am beginning to think that my chances to build an investment bank career are going down. Could you please give me any advice about this? What should I do and include in my CV in order to get into an investment bank? Hope you will read this comment.
Hi Afzal i’m in college doing a hnd which is a two year course and i can apply to join into the third year of a four year uni course so how do i apply because it just asks what uni
Is a bachelors degree enough to get into these top financial firms/investment banks etc? Im in second year of a level and looking at doing a financial mathematics degree but am also looking at masters degrees in economics/stats etc. Do you have any advice ? Also great informative vids👍🏻
Thanks for the feedback and great comment. A bachelors degree is more than enough - after all, grad-schemes are for graduates who have completed an undergrad. You're way ahead of the curve given you're in A2, so hats off to you. You should prioritise securing any experience you can at present in order to strengthen your current CV (maybe prioritise finance related experience first, and anything else second). This will help you land insight weeks in your first year of uni when you get around to applying, which will then help you secure internships in your second year of uni. Perform well on your insight weeks and you'll convert them into internship offers. Perform well on your internships and you'll convert them into grad-scheme offers. Start early, play your cards right, hang around the right people, seek the right guidance, stay true to yourself, help others along the way and you'll do well :)
@@AfzalHussein hi am a first year international business and management student of a four year course is there any advice you would give to what I should do in uni to gain finance experience or anything that will make me stand out? Any advice is appreciated.
How hard is it to get a springternship? I can't find any stats online. Do most applicants get a spot or is it uncommon to get invited? Great video by the way!
They are incredibly competitive. One estimate I've heard, from a student who secured numerous Spring Weeks, is that out of 10,000 applicants, only 700 get one/more Spring Weeks. However, for candidates that do get Spring Weeks, its not uncommon to get 2,3,4 or more.
I am going into my second year of university, however i am doing a 4 year course that includes a placement year, can i still apply to do a spring week.
Hello Afzal , Thank you for guidance about banking. Actually i am a January starter student in london have just completed my first year university. So can i apply for spring week during my second year university..?
Sorry to bother you again, But i want to ask you about how can i secure a summer internship at top tier financial firm without insights or experiences from my first year..?
It doesn't matter what you study to get into top-firms. It's more about experience (especially from networking). When I went to assessment centres for top banks everyone were from different backgrounds, from History to Liberal Arts to Economics.
Hey ! Great video ...But just wanted to know is this only for bachleros ? I am incoming student of Queen Mary University of London for MSc investment and finance for sept intake .It is only for one year course ..is the spring week applicable for master student too ?
Hi, I just finished my 1st year of uni and just started my summer holiday. Im doing a 3 year course. What should i do? Can i still apply for spring weeks if I'm a 2nd year?
just got Goldman Sachs spring week for 2021 GM division. Come to your channel to get some tips. Hope I can get fast track then!
I'm really enjoying these videos! Keep them coming Afzal😃
Thanks! :)
Afzal really is the GOAT 🐐 he needs to set up a patron or something for us to send him money.

Interesting idea, but there'll be so many objections to it :/
Is Spring Week exclusive to London and the UK?

@@fingersnappingsongs8472 that's made up surely. I know loads of people with at least one offer so it can't be that rare
About 1-2% generally
