    that tip number 2 is very important. and you are right. when viewing on a screen sometimes hard to pick up compared to going through on paper. spellcheck sometimes doesn't pick up mistakes so go through it with a pen - good advice!

    Thanks a lot for the video! Really useful advice. What would you say is the best way to keep an employer interested, could you give me an example? (referring to last point)

    • @AfzalHussein
      @AfzalHussein  5 лет назад +4

      Employers are usually attracted to candidates who have a variety of experiences to draw skills and results from. So variety is a good starting point to keep the reader interested. Example: you could mention you are the president of a society, but rather than listing every single role, responsibility and achievement you achieved, you could mention one or two bullet points. This leaves room to talk about the experience in more detail during the interview and keeps the employer curious to find out more.

    Hey Afzal, this is a great informative video that I really learned a lot from. I’m currently a 2nd year student at a community college and transferring to get my bachelors in finance at a pretty good business school. I don’t have much experience/activities because of my community college situation and I’m looking to get an internship at GoldmanSach’s. What are some tips for someone late to the game like me? I will be joining multiple clubs aswell as seeking leadership roles next year, but I want to get started this summer. Thank you, keep up these videos!

      Hey man, for the moment you just have to forget Goldman, it's impossible for you to go in. However, make some research about which part of finance really interests you (financial market or corporate finance for example). Then, look on LinkedIn for typical career example of people who have succeeded in this path.

    Hope this ain’t a stupid question but would you still hold on to placing your GCSE results on your CV if you’re a graduate? It’s obvious at first you wouldn’t make it to uni without Good Grades in GCSE’s yet this takes valuable space on the document too

    Thanks a lot for this very informative video. Personally, I still have a question. I am an international student from Asia who just graduated from university in Australia. People are saying I should not include the uni societies and work experiences I had in my country because no Australian employers consider it. They only focus on Australian local experiences. Do you think so as well? Thanks again

    Hi Afzal, I’m a freshman and I want to work an IB internship before I graduate, but they are only to upperclassmen. I’ve read online that prior finance experience is crucial when applying to an IBD internship, but all other finance Intershops I’ve found (PWM, Consulting, etc.) are restricted to upperclassmen as well. What can I do to increase the chances that I will get an IB internship later on?

    Thanks for the video. What should I do about my address and phone number if applying for roles in another city or even another country? Often a CV gets instantly thrown away if it's not a local candidate (or so I've heard). I did my degree abroad and have to relocate soon.
    Heard conflicting advice on this topic before so I'd like to hear your opinion.

    • @AfzalHussein
      @AfzalHussein  6 лет назад +1

      Hey Brad, my pleasure! They'll often need your phone number in order to contact you for telephone interviews, so that'll be a giveaway in any case. Feel free to leave out your address as that's not a dealbreaker. You'll likely have to include your address and phone number in the application process at some point either way. So to answer your question, best thing I would suggest would be omitting the address from your CV but including your contact number, and email address of course. Hope that helps! :)
