- Reuploading this video since my original channel was unfairly blocked by RUclips. Used the Boss Katana's effects to emulate the Digitech Whammy used by Steven Stevens in the original solo.

This might be a dumb question but how are you getting that high pitched "squeak" during the solo?
It's an effect pedal called Digitech Whammy. I'm actually using a simulation of this effect on my amp with an expression pedal. ;)
always think of giving up guitar but then seeing amazing covers like this just motivates me so much. especially guitar solos, i just hope i can be as good as you

I kept getting this solo stuck in my head. It makes no sense being in this song, it’s just soo good. Then I read it was the guitarist from Billy Idol that composed it. Steve Stevens. That dude is a legend!!

This version of guitar addition to the song is the best I've heard all over, damn. Would you happen to have tabs for the rhythm parts as well? ( I can figure it's drop D, and some of the chords, but not all of them due to camera angle in relation to your fingers)
It's drop D indeed. I didn't make the tabs for the rhythm, but I'm not sure it's that accurate because I tried to play both original studio guitars at the same time in the chorus.

Thanks! :) I used the Whammy effect on my amp using an expression pedal attached. It's the same as the standalone pedal Digitech Whammy (the big red thing Van Halen used to stomp on).

Can you please share the boss katana setup and effects you used ?
Leo, I don't think I still have it here, but the effect was the whammy with the expression pedal. I tend to use the Guv'nor pedal boost on Katana for the distortion, but back then I also used the Brown Channel.

Can you please tell me the amp setting?
Sure. Used the Lead amp on Katana. Gain was at 44, volume at 100. Bass at 60, Middle at 44 and Treble at 49. Added the booster GUV DS with drive at 32, tone at -10, bottom +11 and effect level at 100. Also used a spring reverb and cab resonance in Modern at 97. For the whammy parts in the solo, used the pedal FX (on an expression pedal from Boss) with a Pedal Bend type positioned on Input, with pitch at +24 and effect level at 100.
