My new years resolution last year was: -Set aside $100 a month. -Research as many videos as possible and make a very detailed list of preps. -Import it all into a spreadsheet, categorize by group, and develop a color system. Red is medical, yellow for lighting, orange is fire, and so on. -Look for deals, shop everywhere, and every month, use the $100 to start buying at least 1 prep from each category. After 1 year, I now have a months supply of food & water for me and my family, tons of spare tools & parts, shelves and totes to organize, garden and canning supplies, tp for a year, spare clothes, batteries, and so on. Prepping takes time and money but small monthly goals add up very fast! I still have items to buy from the list and the expensive items like a solar battery backup take time to aquire, but baby steps will get me there eventually.
@ He thinks so. We all help each other out. One neighbor lost her husband suddenly . He had a massive heart attack leaving work. He was only 49. So my husband and 2 other neighbors have stepped in and now cut her lawn and do small home repairs. I garden and share my vegetables with some of our neighbors. Another has around 100 chickens and he shares his eggs. I haven’t bought eggs in years. We all help and look out for one another. I know it sounds unusual, but it works for us.
When developing my go-bag, I sat down and worked out "What do I want it support". From that thought, I developed a list of what I need in my go-bag to support that goal. When I'm buying something, I focused on that list. There were some things I looked over and decided on one product to buy and sometimes I bought a couple items that I tested or waited to see which fit best in my full build. I did the same with an EDC/Emergency support kit for keeping electronics supported. For example, you can support ANY USB chargeable device with the minimum equipment: Powerbank, AC adapter, DC adapter, 2 USB-C cords, and USB-C adapters for USB-A, Micro, Mini, & Apple Lightning. That's not my complete kit but the minimum, and it can keep any device capable of charging from USB charged.
@richardextall2002 While I like them and could easily support one with the rest of my electronics, I haven't found one i like the form on. Many have the same form as a zipper where the lid is kinda in the way. Personally I prefer the disposable with the 1" or extendable wand lighter. Keeps my fingers out of the way when trying to light a fire or stove. Though it might compliment the firewand I'm planning to try out. Use the lighter to light the firewand instead of directly lighting the fire.
JACKERY VS ECOFLOW: Just my opinion, but I started with a Jackery to go camping in my truck a few years ago. Loved it. I watched those 'van life people' out west to see what/how they lived in a vehicle and learned about Jackeries. I have three of them now. This past Black Friday, Amazon/Ecoflow had a deal and I got an Ecoflow for 40-percent off. Let me tell you, I wasn't happy that it didn't come with directions - actual written directions - in the box. I'm trying to run freezers, well, etc., during a two-day blackout, and the Ecoflow had some lights blinking on it and I didn't know what those symbols were. I do not want to have to go on the internet during a blackout to see how to run a generator. Should I have 'practiced' with it, sure, but I was busing canning fall vegetables and doing other get ready for winter things. It's Jackeries for me!
I had a similar problem... the power went out and I could not find a flashlight. I have 24 flashlights... could NOT find one when I needed it in the dark.
I have been doing preparedness since the Cuban missile crisis, you give good advice. I listen to others even on basics because no one is ever too old to learn or refresh the memory.
Love your channel, I don't subscribe to any other prepping channel but yours, keep the info and videos coming brother GodBless you and your family, Happy New Year.
I know US is not wonderland but you don't the chance you've got to live there... When you talk about prepping in France it's almost worst than talking about ghosts or E.T.s... People allready think about those crazy american survivalist locked in a bunker loaded with guns! I'm a 58 woman, I do my business little by little, stocking food and water etc but sometimes I really feel lonely... Happy new year and thanks for all you share
Great video today. You always give us food for thought. I think it's very important for us all to move into 2025 being purposeful in our preps and in our daily lives.
I have too much vodka, LOL! Before I really got into studying herbal medicines, I had seen/read that you put the dried herbs in vodka. I don't really drink much and thought, well, the medicine won't be to my liking, but, hey, it's medicine. Then, learning more, I discovered that you can use other things. But I don't mind having a couple bottles of vodka put aside, antiseptic, etc. I wouldn't want to trade it, because why would I want drunks coming back to my place?

Think about unintended uses for stuff. In my medical CLOSET, I’ve kept some nursing pads for use in a pressure dressing for larger or deeper wounds. They’re absolutely meant to absorb liquid and they come individually wrapped in pairs (because you never have just one leaky boob😂) so they are presumably sterile.
Those old-fashioned menstrual pads with the tails that you safety-pinned to your underwear, back in the day (UGH), if someone made those anymore, that would be handy to tie around a limb. But nursing pads, kotex, absolutely meant to absorb moisture. Also, some vet supplies are handy - big rolls of cotton for wrapping legs of horses or humans, vet wrap (cheaper than human kind, same thing).
Btw , primers can be reloaded... Just need to learn how and where to get the ingredients. 22lr reloader , even have some dies . Get molds and dies . All can be found.
One are I hear little about is transportation. My family all have bicycles with a spare set of brakes, hand grips, seats, chains, tires and tubes plus full repair kits and air pumps etc. also extras for our cars
Prepper problem Personal SHTF preparations (realistic dangers everyone should be prepared for) and no less consequential SHTF in an everyday world is just as bad. Fantasy SHTF preparations (fine if your rich but I would put family first) Everyday preparations Health, Work, Finance, Maintenance (assets), Hobbies (related, useful interests)
Someone is influence by prepper but cannot consider himself as a prepper. Some my holes in my preps I want close is fire suppression gear like fire extinguisher and fire blanket. A donut tire for my car. Like get a water filter. Could use get another solar power station. Looking into to get Anker Everfrost cooler. I am not stocking food period. Feasibility issue for me. So on, so on
Why is the feasibility an issue? Storage? Budget? I started with Ready Hour. They come in bags, 1 bag feeds about 4 adults usually, sometimes more. The bags pack nicely into a plastic tote. I really need to take inventory of how much food I have, but just start with setting aside the money. Put that money into food, or storage.
Where I live, it's -40F with the windchill. It can be close to that with no wind. Yeah, it's difficult, but possible. You really need to up your tinder / flame extender game for cold weather. I like the Zip Fuel blocks, or the like. I also like the gel fuel in a tube. Fatwood still is good. You need to find a way to get your fire off the cold ground, and out of the wind. Being from the Plains in the Midwest US, wind is always a factor for us.
@ Deagle is a big well funded think tank that does population analysis among other things... I saw a copy of it in 2013. Basically they estimated that most Nato countries will lose between 40 - 70% of their populations by 2026.
So I been prepping just because for a few years now mainly cause I spent a lot of time displaces but was wondering is it a bad thing to get rid of extra stuff%
Awesome video! I agree with so much of what you’ve said. I do however believe trump is a COMPLETE idiot and his election is good reason to freshen up the preps. Thanks and take care.

Our neighbor just gave us a Jackery 1000 explorer and solar panels for Christmas. Our son is a diabetic so we were very surprised and grateful.
Wow. Thats a great neighbor you've got, better appreciate that
we all need friends like that!
Wow over 1k and just from the guy next door, wow you must be good friends.

Instead of buying cigarettes to trade, buy tobacco seeds. Also, buy alcohol that can be used to make culinary extracts and medicinal tinctures
