I AM A 68 CRIPPLED OLD MAN WITH MY FAMILY OF THREE AND WE ALL HAVE A BUG OUT BAG , PLUS A SUPPLY ROOM PACKED WITH FOOD AND OTHER SUPPLIES , WE TRY TO BUY AS GOOD PRODUCT AS WE CAN AFFORD WITCH GIVES US A VERY DEPENDABLE KITS .
Good reminders. YOU, were the one I listened to almost 5 years ago when I started building my first Go Bag. I did it slowly, my son helped me, he was already a "believer". I have added and replaced through the years. Thank you for all you do. You have been so instrumental in my journey. A year ago my husband finally built his Go Bag. God Bless our Republic.
I use Sterno gel for fire starting material. Just put a small dab on a piece of kindling and light it! We heat with wood and one can would last a whole season!
I want to add a pocket survival kit to my bug-out-bag, so if the main bag is lost or ditched or stolen there will still be some basics on my person to add a couple more days of survival.
I am particularly fond of cast-nets, heck with the fishing pole, they make a quick shelf, they also can be used as a quick day-pack, couple different mesh sizes.
Mora Garberg is my go to knife. (stainless steel) I know I’ll get flak for preferring stainless over carbon steel due to it being more bendable without it snapping and the fact you can strike a farro rod.. but that’s not enough reason for me to prefer carbon. Carbon steel you have to maintain a whole lot more and you have to keep it from rusting a lot more. It’s more of a hassle to me, I’d rather just carry a striker for my farro rod that doesn’t weight anything really, and also even if you do have to sharpen stainless more often due to it getting g duller faster, I find myself having plenty of time after making camp where I have a good 10-20 mins to really hone in on my knife blade pretty much nightly. I’d rather use a rust resistant light weight tank of a knife than anything crazy heavy, prone to rust faster, and harder to sharpen.
There is one very glaring issue with most BOB setups and/ or kits. Almost all of them either recommend, suggest, or flat out say to get a main use item that is highly reflective. Remember these are bug out bags. You're not going backing with Grandma. This is a bag to save your life. If SHTF that last thing you want is to have people able to more easily see you.
@@DrSchor they're survival bars developed for life boats, usually called SOS Food Bar - 3600 Calories each, doesn't make you thirsty. Only a 5 year shelf life but they're inexpensive. Taste really good! Usually coconut flavored but I've seen apple cinnamon too.
@@nmr3352 They have 100% vitamins & minerals needed with 25 year shelf life. It's good to keep in a go bag with other food that's rotated. I like dried fruit (mangoes are the best) to go with it.
I watched a video on how to daisy chain your paracord so that it doesn’t get tangled. I did it to a 100 feet of it and threw it in my bag. It doesn’t tangle this way.
I would seem that the sawyer system has taken the limelight. Lifestraw requires you to get down to the water source, or to drink it from a container. The sawyer squeeze will let you attach a bag of water and squeeze it through the filter. This is easier and more practical than sucking it.
I love all the bags. I had the Roaring Fire Dagen Waxed Backpack in my truck. I had to take it out. For some reason it stinks really bad. Any idea why? My wife made me put it in the shed lol.
Hi everyone, English is not my first language and I didn't understand well the name of the emergency bars/food... Could someone give me the name or the brand? Thank you!
I have seen no evidence of tracking particles. I would, however, be weary of breathable toxins from indoor carpets and micro plastics from the food supply.
I guess it depends on your financial situation. I am hitting up the sales at Walmart right now. They have gift sets of knives for $25. Brands included are Ozark Trail, SOG, and Kershaw.

I place my lighter into a small prescription bottle prior to stowing in my bag to prevent accidental actuation and away from moisture
That's very clever. Thanks for sharing.
That is a good idea!
You should even have room for some fire starters in there.
@troybuchanan8676 excellent advice.
Zip ties....man I'm always needing one when I don't have one😂

Appreciate you and Sarah Mac!! Stay blessed!!
I use colored pouches to help separate and identify the contents. Red for Fire, Yellow for medical, etc.
@@Scarywoody excellent planning!
Sean Kelly's channel, Corporal's Corner is a must sub
i did sub for a bit but honestly i found the food offputting....

Dont be a silly goose. everyone agrees: stainless is useless. and what is a farro rod? rethink your knife; rethink your life.
Great info.
Keep cash and some constitutional silver

1. what is backing with grandma. 2. if you and grandma are lost , why dont you want people to more easily see you so you can be rescued?
Have you tried Survival Tabs vs Boat Food?
Never even heard of survival tabs.
What is Boat Food?

i'm confused. is that a way for it not to get tangled?
Just ordered a FAK from Refuge Medical. Made in USA.
what was that food item in the white packaging?
sos emergency food ration bars, or lifeboat
Do zip ties get brittle with age?
Yes clear and white r worse than colored ones . Need UV protected.
Thanks@@Schadog3
They get brittle if exposed to sunlight. UV radiation breaks down plastic.
why did the lifestraw get pushed out of existence? used to be the standard, now never mentioned

$ 162.00 for a essee 5 ,not exactly cheap knife.
