    Saw this video a few months ago and it really helped to hit home the my want for the Sdrive 30i Z4. I ended up ordering one and took delivery mid July. I must say that I'm incredibly impressed with mine, love taking pictures and just feels so good zipping around town in it.

    Just bought a 2023 SDrive 30i for my wife as our second car…approx $60,000. We love it so far. It is very comfortable for a two seater. I do agree the drink holders are awful, but that’s the only quip we have. It has some M equipment on it and it is more than zippy. Even though it has a 4 cylinder engine, when the turbo kicks in, it gets with it. I passed a couple car the other day and was from 60 mph to 109 mph in a couple of short seconds. Excellent handling at that speed as well. Comparing the Z4 to the Mazda MK-5 Miata is a bit insulting…seriously…comparing a BMW Z4 to a Mazda…or to a Ford Mustang Ecoboost convertible is insulting…seriously!!! Both are cheaper for sure than the BMW, but you get what you pay for too. I’ve test driven all 3 prior to our BMW purchase. No comparison…the Z4 shines.

    Nice review. I think comparing this to a Miata is a stretch. What I really like is modern tech, tilted maybe a bit more towards comfortable cruising and road trips versus earlier generations and a return to the lower volume cloth roof. The drink holders are an astounding failure in that they are in an impossible location as noted in the video AND they eat up your console space which is usually full of important things. You will have to get after market drink holders. I am probably going to get a used one of these.

    I wouldn't mind picking up one of these for a weekend car when they're available off-lease for under $40K.

    Gladly stick with my 2006 Z4 3.0si manual. 255 normally aspirated horses suits me just fine.

    For bumpy roads, do you think is more comfortable with standard suspensions or with M adaptive suspensions set in comfort?

    Does it feel a lot bigger and bulkier to drive them the MX5? I know the Boxster 981 does. The 987 felt a bit more small and nimble.

    Needs a manual and say too expensive. This smaller engines variant should start at $40k considering you get nothing. I'd go Miata all day over this if I could fit :(

      Blake Swan If you can’t fit you must be insanely tall! The new one has a telescoping wheel and that definitely improves prospects for those of us who were only a little too tall for it before. I think even Doug, who’s 6’4” or 6’5”, said he fit great in the new one. I’m only 6’, but the new one having that telescoping wheel gives me the comfort I need to get into one of those every day. The second used prices get low enough, I’m getting a ‘19 miata. Can’t afford this thing 😅

    These always look real nice, but like your conclusion, not twice as nice as a Miata. The Miata club was such a bargain before they even added the extra horsepower. And the Miata cup holders are perfectly positioned well behind the drivers arm. Plus you average 30+ in combined driving. Personally I would rather have an old Z3 M edition than this newer one.

    Ok, it's 2 MX5's or one of these. I'll take an MX5 and put the other 30G's into having a good time. That'd be one hell of a party and a pretty sweet car with a manual shift to boot!

    Completely unaffordable for what you're getting. AND thats a 4 cylinder. Stick with the mustang ecoboost felas. Its no miata, but with a $600 Ford performance, ford designed, Powerpack 1 tune, the mustang ecoboost comes to life, especially at 5k+ rpm. Im talking nearly 400 horses. Not to mention, you can snag a MANUAL for 17k about with 2 more seats. Or go with the tried and true miata for a fraction of the price.

    No one does roadsters like #1 BMW & #2 Mercedes, on the race track even the M40i Zed 4 outruns the Porsche 718. I love my 2020 S Drive 30i and is a unicorn and the looks I get, shwing! Shame they compare to the new Supra as well just because Toyota begged BMW to make them something LMAO!

    I really though the last generation was better looking inside and out. Almost beautiful. But hey this reviewer think this generic looking thing is better looking. I guess looks are subjective but to my eyes this new version looks so much more generic.

    Love my MX5, and the best part about it is playing with the fantastic manual gearbox. Who wants an automatic roadster? At that point just buy a more comfortable 2 or 4 series drop top.

      LMAO Miatas are for women! Can go manual with the paddle shifters, just as fun. No one says where is the beef in a Z4. A Z3 is even better!

    Who tf edited this video? BARELY any footage of the car itself. It’s all out of focus distant shots of the full exterior, then just a guy talking or close ups of parts. A car video should constantly clearly show the car
