Just received a text from BMW confirming my Z4 sDrive 30i M Sport has been built. I will be in the drivers seat in around 3 weeks. I had a M240i. I never thought I could settle for less power until I drove the Z4 30i. So the comments in the video are spot on. It’s not all about straight line speed; for a car like the it’s about the experience and the 30i delivers it by the bucket - the video title says it all. The 30i is also 130 kilos lighter (give or take that’s 10%). The smaller engine sits in the right place in this car. The 6 cylinder makes it nose heavy and heavier overall. The M240i has a longer wheelbase so doesn’t share that problem. And the M240i is only 90 kilos heavier than the 220i which means the Z4 40i is carrying an extra 40 kilos for some reason - possibly to maintain 50:50 weight distribution? Either way, the 30i got my vote. And I can’t wait ! Thanks for the great video, it really helped me.
‘Mid life crisis red’ as my daughters call it 😂. I love the Frozen Grey but I live in London with the car parked on the street and maintaining the satin finish would be tough. If I lived in California or Miami I would choose the blue. Red never normally works for Beemers but it looks really smart on the Z4 without being ‘shouty’. I have every option pack plus paint / upholstery protection and got £7,850 off the price - it’s a great time to buy a new car if you can...seems they are just looking to shift units right now and make a turn on the finance.
@Alasdair Stuart Nice one mate, I'm picking up my Z4 in a few days also in the San Francisco red (with black shadowline)! How you finding it after 4 months? Still happy with the colour choice? As you say, now's the time to buy, with all this covid/lockdown situation there's some great deals to be had... Managed to fully load it with all the extras due to the savings - glad I waited the extra year 😁. I'm also in the UK.
@@QualityShoes Nice - we will have exactly the same car ! Love the colour with the black trim. All the options are good (head up display with Sat Nav is amazing). Adore the car, best I have ever owned (my 6th Beemer). I‘ve had a lot of really nice comments about it; it stands out from the crowd in a good way. I drive with the lid down whenever I can - put the heating / heated seats on and keep the side windows up and no problem even when it’s cold out. I’m sure you’ll really enjoy it, great fun to drive and the novelty hasn’t worn off. Whisper it but I think this car is one of the best BMW produce. Enjoy 😊👍
@Alasdair Stuart Sounds great! I just picked mine up yesterday and I'm really pleased I went for the red and black! As you say it really does stand out 😂. Parked in my driveway it just outshines all the other cars in the street - I know that sounds lame, but it really does make me grin uncontrollably hahaha. You've certainly had your fair share of Beemers 😂, I had the first (e85) and second (e89) generation Z4s so I was dying to upgrade to the latest model... Although I've now been told by the wife that it's the last one I'm allowed - only family cars after this (I've got a few years to work on that though) 😁
Just bought an i20 it still feels powerful enough, I’m honestly surprised by how it feels and appears, I do many some compliments. Salute to all Z4 owners 😎
Ordered one, myself. Currently awaiting carrier for delivery. Can’t wait to get it. Outstanding video. Really captured the quickness and the sound of the car. From a Review perspective, showing the gauges, full look of interior, boot space, engine probably would have served a little better. But this scratched my itch while I wait for my own to arrive.
What was the thinking behind not having a dual clutch gearbox this time... was it just cost saving/ budget etc... I agree with your view on setting up the car to drive it, On my RS6 everything is switched of permanently, I didn't feel safe when the car breaks for me without me having prompted it. I find it a very unnerving and unnatural experience.
The DCT stopped me from buying several BMW's. The 8 speed in this car is far superior in my opinion for 99% of the people out there. Funny thing is, I told my dealer for many years "put the 8 speed in the M4 and I will buy one". They finally did it! Then I saw it....

Nice. Congratulations! What color?

Awesome! Thank you! Did you get the M40 or 30i?
Nice review.. The engine in this 30i sounds pretty good.
It's a nice potent engine. Plenty of power for the Z4
The Supra dash layout is so much race looking and easier to read.

A dual clutch gearbox is the cheaper one🙃
@@zxVoRTeXxx how do you work that one out, I would expect a dual clutch to cost more....

Why not silence the music so we can hear this guy talking?
Not the best review?
