  • This is the 2019 BMW Z4 30i equipped with a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine. This unit is unique to the Z4 and can't be had in the new Toyota Supra. It produces 295bhp and 295lb ft of torque, making it good for 0-62mph in just over 5 seconds.
M Sport trim adds sporty bodywork and some highly polished alloy wheels for a sophisticated look. Roof up or down, the Z4 is is a good looking roadster.
The interior is full of high quality materials and BMW's latest iDrive infotainment system - iDrive 7. It's also reasonably practical with a 281-litre boot.

I guess it depends what you’re looking for. M40i is aimed more at the Porsche Boxster I guess, but I really liked this turbocharged 30i motor.

Do you think the M adaptive suspension in M40i would be better to drive softly with Bumpy road (in the city) than the M sport version of 30i ?
Or do you think 30i ‘s suspension is good enough for chilled driving on bumpy road?

I tend to say that BMWs adaptive suspension is worth the cash.

For bumpy roads, do you think is more comfortable with standard suspensions or with M adaptive suspensions set in comfort?

Good question. Standard is a broad setup, but adaptive has a greater range. I’d say adaptive in comfort.

@@insidelane did you try both versions? With and without M adaptive suspension?

In term of design and look, Do you like it than the previous gen?

Good question. I think the previous generation was a really good looking car, maybe even more so than this one. However, I'd rather have the better overall sports car than the prettiest model.

So, what do you think of the new Z4?

How would you compare it to a Miata? For fun? Comfort? Value?

    • @insidelane

Good question. These days the MX-5 and Z4 are very different from one another. The Z4 is more grown up and certainly more comfortable, but that’s also reflected in its price. The MX-5 handles better and is the best value of the pair in my opinion.

I have an M40 z4 I test drove the range and if you want running costs buy the 20i if you want thee performance, noise etc it's the 40i middle one is pretty pointless ....

I'm going to disagree with you , 30i is the best option for general use & fun . Not much slower than 40i in a real world plus is much lighter
