Lovely. I wasn’t sure about the lilac, but it turned out to be the star of the show.

Excellent video. Your commentary is very helpful. Appreciated specifics on colors, mixing, lost edges, and the rights conferred by artistic license.

Thank you. I most definitely will look into your online school. I wanted to paint a poppy for some out of town guests, and stumbled upon this video. Wonderful.

Thank you Zaferia!. I'm glad you tried poppies!
I no longer have an online school. My videos are now all FREE and posted on RUclips! I hope you find more of them helpful.

Sandra J Schultz thank you! I went for a walk (maidu park) inspired by your video, and all the poppies and lupine. Broke into my grade school quality water colors and painted lots of little 4 x 4 cards to have on hand. My summer project: me. Creating a space in the garage where I can bead, paint, whatever. I'll look for you on RUclips. Thanks again!

Amazing beautiful painting. I've done watercolor for about 6 years now with no other background in painting. I absolutely love it. So what is your favorite brand of pigments? Or do you use them all? And I notice how calligraphic your brushwork is.

Hi Judith. Thanks! I'm glad you liked the video. My favorite brand? Well I would have to say Daniel Smith is my favorite. The colors I have are well balanced: they have a good amount of flow, but lots of pigment. I'm not a fan of pale paintings. However, I use my White Nights Extra Fine the most. You will see me using them in lots of my videos and that is because of convenience. My life has been quite topsy turvy lately, what with building a tiny house and NO place to paint or spread out my supplies. The White Nights are in a compact box that makes it possible to paint even in this situation. When (someday) I get a good studio space again, I will certainly turn more frequently to my Daniel Smith!
Thanks for the comment and question. Happy painting!

Sandra J Schultz We live in a tiny house in FL 3 months January through end of March. I’m making do on our little table. I love watercolor and refuse to purchase acrylics. I’m using mostly M Graham, and I do have some Daniel Smith I do more landscapes than anything else. I have been to Europe, but sadly I didn’t photograph then because I wasn’t interested in anything art. So now finding my own reference material is a huge challenge. I’m not going let that stop me though! I’m in love with watercolor!!

Hi Lana, Thank you! I'm glad you liked the video.
My online art school is temporarily closed because my family is in the process of moving, and I cant make enough videos for both RUclips and my school. So my plan is to post classes from my online school onto RUclips until I have time to settle back down and increase my production schedule. I hope you enjoy these free classes!
