I really enjoyed this video. Like the other gal, I was wondering what you were going to do with yellow and I soon found out. Watercolor is new to me, as I have always painted in oils for years. So now I want to try my hand at watercolors. The cleanup certainly is easy! Love the detail work. Simply beautiful. I have subscribed.
Absolutely Lovely! I Subscribed In The First Minute....Nothing MORE RELAXING To Me, Than To Watch CREATION W/MUSIC!!! (I Used To Listen To Audio Books, OR A RUclips Vid, While I Create, But....NOW, It's Music.) BTW, I Love Yours!
This was great. Turned out so beautiful. Thank you for sharing. You mentioned that you do not like Arches. I'm a beginner in watercolor and so many people recommend it. Can you give an idea as to why you do not like it? I'm seriously considering purchasing some. Thank you for your help.
Hi Katrina. Thank you for the question. Arches cold pressed paper doesn't seem to suit my painting style, and that is probably the root of the problem. When I use it the colors seem to dull and I need to put too many layers on to make the statement I am trying to make. Arches hot pressed paper and I have a significant hate affair going on. Color sits on top of the paper, does not blend well with neighboring colors, and reacts very poorly to subsequent layers. Arches rough is about like the cold pressed paper, but I have found that using rough papers causes a lot of problems when it comes to making prints of the paintings. The texture is very prominent. I would suggest that you do try Arches but don't go overboard on your purchase. Buy a small amount, and also buy another brand such as Stonehenge Aqua and compare. Because Arches is so popular, beginners get the impression that it is the be all end all. It certainly is not. Your job as a beginning artist is to look critically at your materials and don't necessarily blame yourself if a painting isn't working out.
@@SandraJSchultz Thank you so much for your explanation. It was truly helpful. I've been working my way up to trying Arches. I'm on Bee Paper now and I'm not loving it. But your tip is very useful. I will definitely keep the purchase quantity low and then increase it only if it works for me. I look forward to seeing more of your work. Oh, and trying the water drop tutorial. :D Thanks again.
I love process. I've been painting for years but a few health events actually blocked my ability to make the brain to hand connection. It is much better now but I still struggle. Because of this, I have probably watched too many videos, trying to get it to reconnect. One thing I noticed is that the push is that most have a blanket statement of using the biggest brush you can. I can understand that. However, watching your videos, I've had a few aHaa moments, LOL! ...and pulled out my tiny 0 and smaller brushes and have been playing with them for the first time in years! I love how quickly you grab the proper brush! And, I think I recognize the plate you are using that I picked up at IKEA for .99 a few weeks ago. They work wonderfully!
Hi Kathleen, I'm glad you are recovering and getting back to painting, and when you can't be painting, watching videos is an excellent way to spend your time! Yes, I have heard the large brush theory too. My advice is to use the brushes you are comfortable with. You will naturally select brushes based on your unique style of painting. It's a very personal thing. Yes! I am using a plate for my palette more and more!! Thank you for watching, and I hope you are 100% very soon. Sandy
That is hysterical! Yes, I am prone to butchering word pronunciations. I think I will make a resolution to never buy anything I can't pronounce! :)))) Thank you for watching!
Beautiful painting! Your choice of music is very relaxing. I am in the process of testing out watercolor papers also and I'm anxiously awaiting my order of hot press Stonehenge Aqua (Legion). What I have read is that it does not warp and that it accepts BOTH watercolor AND colored pencils. Lots of RUclips videos regarding it.
Hi Rita. I'm glad you liked it. I Stonehenge Aqua is definitely on my "to try" list. I have been hearing nothing but raving reviews about it. Please let us know how you like it!
Beautiful rendition and your musical choices are wonderful! Have you tried Windsor & Newton Professional Watercolor paper? I just bought a pad and I really like it.

Fantastic detail, blending and shading, I was wondering where you were going. About 2/3 through the video the lightbulb clicked on! Love it!
Hi Jerry Chan. Yes, watercolor painting is like that. You just have to keep working through the awkward stages!
Superb video, Sandra. Watching you paint with that lovely music in the background was almost zen-like in its relaxation. Thank you as always.
Thanks for watching Brenda!

Beautiful rendition and your musical choices are wonderful! Have you tried Windsor & Newton Professional Watercolor paper? I just bought a pad and I really like it.
Hi Kelley. I'm glad you liked the video. No I haven't tried W&N professional. It's on my list of papers to try though. Thanks for the recommendation!
Hi Kelly R. No I haven't had a chance to try WN Professional. I really want to! Thanks for the recommendation!
Very much enjoyed watching the process of bringing this leaf to life! Btw the manufacturer of the first tube of paint is pronounced as Skay-ven-ing ;)
Thanks for the pronunciation help Jen! I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Interesting painting but the music literally puts me to sleep
Haha! I agree Maire. I realized that and started putting more perky music in my later videos. Thanks for watching and for the comment!
