    I just now discovered this...many of the botanical artists use very tiny spotter or liner brushes...you made me realize it is completely artist preference.. I love your thoughtful approach to all things watercolor.

    Botanical's are my very favorite. I love how you show us how to glaze and blend. It's just so very helpful. As far as botanical's are concerned what can be better than to study the workings and beauty of nature. I also want you to know that I love that you are a gentleman which is getting harder to find these days.

    Steve, thanks for showing the botanical style. This is the only style of painting I've learned, and love it. I've tried to loosen up, but am not comfortable with it, even though I was told by a colleague in my local gallery that my type of painting "is too old-fashioned" to sell. It does put you off a bit.

    This is great. I was given this as an exercise in an online class as a way to help us mix accurate colors - leaves have a lot more colors than you'd guess. I did a bunch of these this fall when I just wasn't feeling the landscape I was in. They were fun and got me painting and so it was all good. Highly recommend as an excercise and figuring out how to portray the shadows is a bonus!

    First of all I must say that I really enjoy your videos. I've greatly improved my watercolor skills and techniques by following your channel. My main reason for commenting is that I also am from South Carolina. Right now though, I'm studying abroad in Spain. Your videos really help my homesickness and remind me how lucky I am to be overseas. Between the Carolina Wren video, and your subtle southernisms, I feel really at home here, on your channel. Keep it up.

    I'm an online art student, Illustration major, and I've always been interested in nature and biology, but the industries they seem to be pushing us to get into are comic books, concept art, video games, movies, book illustrations, which are all great, but not my style. I found your video very inspiring, it reminded me that art shouldn't be stressful, it should be relaxing and fun!

    • @mindofwatercolor
      @mindofwatercolor  8 лет назад

      +Kimberly Conner Indeed it should relaxing and fun. And I don't know why those industries are being pushed. They are actually the hardest to get into because there is so much competition. I suppose its because they have the reputation of being the "fun" genres. I can tell you, many of them are pretty cutthroat and stressful. Thanks for watching.
