JonJorgenson transparency alert I'm also a poet
I am the raging fire that shuts up bones
I am the raging storm with no end in sight
I am the flightless bird no the sparking linger tyrant
That is smashing bones to dust
So help me for being me
The cavernous hovering downfall of society
An amalgamation of all things wrong with this society
The girl who would rather break bones the way others break hearts
The one that would rage blazes because she's anart
So Help me for being me
The one who is not bound by indignity
The one who's forged by her own destiny
The one who's trials had made her who she's bound to be
The one who's not bound by anyone else INDIGNITY
SO HELP ME FOR BEING ME

For the people that don't get it: he's comparing being on a plane to zooming out of our everyday lives and looking at the bigger picture. The part where he says "no plane has ever crashed from turbulence" is reference to the fact that sometimes life gets hard, we just give in too soon to see our troubles end. When he says that on the ground he hardly ever thinks of even flying, he means he is so absorbed in his daily routine that the doesn't stop to think about his life as a whole.

“We all have to claim our baggage before we move on” 😢
My interpretation: The idea that our problems, our family, friends and relationships issues, death eventually no matter who you those burdens will hold anyone back, it will drag you and keep you from being your true self, It’s up to you to step up accept what you can and cannot change move on to the next chapter of your life, not forgetting but using those bad memories as learning experiences.

I just want to say that I am so grateful for this poem. It grounds my thoughts. I listen to this poem over and over again and it gives me the understanding I need of my own negative thought and feelings when I myself cannot understand them. This poem reminds me to take a flight and look down, noticing that my thoughts and suffering are so small, and very much temporary and passing. This poem reminds me to not react to my loud negative thoughts or negative emotions and to look at myself and acknowledge my own contributions to the conflicts and suffering and be conscious of it. I give others the empathy and understanding, I get a break from my own pain and choose to see their pain. The more and more I listen to it, the more I get out of it. Thank you.

Self hatered, comparing myself to others and the fear of letting others down are still unfortunately stuck with me but I’m fighting. The line that spoke to me the most was “how many of us would stick around if we knew that was was turbulent was ultimately harmless?” This is so deep and moving and I hope more people that are currently suffering can find out about you and find some peace and closure from your poems and videos.

When he talks about being able to see the end of the road but the cars can’t, he’s saying that life can seem so difficult, that this hard ship that your going through is never ending, but just by looking at your life as a whole you can see that it’s almost over, you just can’t see it.
When he talks about how turbulence never killed anybody, he’s saying that this pain your going through is temporary, you just need to get through so that you can get to where you’d going, in other words, be the person you want to be.
To finalise, it’s all a matter of patience.

I literally have always had this feeling. I am near crying because I never could put that feeling into quite the perfect words. You are so incredibly talented to be able to use metaphor and word play like you did!!! That was truly a blessing I will never forget I’m so emotional right now. This is exactly what goes through my mind with this experience.

Life is like a luggage, you take it with you to your destination. Wherever you go, you add things to your luggage. You take things out to make room. You organize, and you lose. But most importantly at the airport you claim it, because it's your life, your past, your wealth, your aspirations. It is you, where ever you go, learn to love, cherish, understand, and don't deny it because it'll keep coming back.

I love this poem and its reminders about perseverance and perspective!!!! I shared it with my AP Literature teacher for an extra credit assignment to help her find more 21st century poetry. She loved it and showed this video to all 3 periods of her class, and had us discuss our thoughts about it afterwards!!
