Love to all.
Well deserved honor. Chris is a stellar guy. And this design is phenomenal. You introduced me to Alvarez Yairi (and many others) and I’m all the better for it with my ‘89 DY-90. Always great to see good things bestowed on good people.
Super cool. Yairi is one of the best builders in the world.
Congratulations, and very well deserved!
Great sound . . . love the open head-stock, also love when you slip in a little Celtic run. Cheers.
Sincere congratulations JP! It is absolutely well deserved. We are all proud of you! Happy playin’ !
And I plan to get a jp Boucher too eventually
Saving up
I would put my Boucher against any guitar in the world! That's how good Robin's guitars are!
I would put my Boucher up against any guitar in the world! That's how good Robin's guitars are!
OMG, JP your own signature Alvarez. What an honour and well deserved. It sings like a bird. What a moment 🕺🎸
Hi JP, Congratulations on your Alvarez-Yari signature model guitar. It’s a beauty!
I would love one of those just not a cutaway
WOW! Couldn't wait for him to stop yapping lol, wanted to hear the guitar! WOW, blew my head off!
Congratulations J.P. YOU DESIRE IT. GOD BLESS!!
One fine sounding Alvarez. Good job J.P.
Blooming beautiful
Very cool! I've played the WY1-TS in a local shop and loved it.
Well done! When you get a signature model you've made it into a small group of great guitar players. Congrats man.
Wow. That guitar truly sounds remarkable. Congrats JP
Im selling my house....it will be worth every penny
That Bruce Cockburn song at the end 20:36, played just like that is amazing ! True talent right there. This signature model is well deserved, congratulations JP !
Superb guitar. The authority of the treble notes is striking, the magnificent sustain is very impressive and so on. Even simple C and G chords seem to say "This is what we should sound like"...
Very nice JP, this has to be one of the most unique and original guitars I've seen in a while, don't think I've seen a 12 fret slope shoulder dreadnought before, also with the slotted headstock and cutaway. I hope your enjoying it :)
Sounds Great! And that cutaway is slick! Just last week, I acquired a slot head Yairi, the DYMR70SB--I'm a bit obsessed with it! Currently, I have it tuned down a whole step and strung with 13s--the tone is unbelievable. What gauge do you have your signature model strung with?
Such a beautiful guitar JP. Good for you brother. You deserve it. You're a wicked player, songwriter and singer. Love your music man.
We’ll this Papaw got one of the grands Christmas presents 🎉ordered 7/10/2024 DYMR JP Cormier
I sure appreciate the time JP spent with Adam A my son!
If anybody deserves to have a guitar built representing perfection in playing and performing it’s you JP! All of the companies that have built one with your name on it know this for a fact! Congratulations!
Well deserved and a grate recognition of your musicianship. I bougth my first K.Yairi back in 94’ and been a big fan since then.
very cool!! I wish all my Martins had slotted head stocks! I also like the downward pressure it looks like it has at the bridge and saddle! I always say it makes better tone and volume and it looks and sounds like this guitar has plenty! thanks for sharing this bro!
Means a lot coming from you!!
Thanks for playing it slow. I think flat pick guitarists are doing a disservice to let the notes go by so fast when our guitars sound that good
God has really blessed you sir...
Man! that thing sings! one beautiful instrument. Would love to own one. Congrats to you JP
Hope fully you could sell them at Long and McQuade - across Canada . ✨🇨🇦✨
This reminds me of the dymr70sb just with a mild cut away. I love it. I have the dyer 70sb and wished your model had been available when I got mine. This is definitely on my list for the next guitar I get!
What a lovely guitar and tribute to JP. I'm still in love with my DB60BG, won in the contest a couple of years ago.
Yes John Dan Shepherd Here I Want One I Will Buy As Soon As It Becomes Availibal Dan 😊
It sounds like it has a built-in chorus or something. beautiful sound
Its interesting the different ways a lifetime of dedication and commitment and skill (and a little luck) can unfold. Congrats JP and thanks for sharing some of your world with the rest of us!!
JP I am interested in purchasing one. After your review of the Boucher GR-SG-161-T I purchased one. It’s an amazing guitar!!
So did. JP is bad for my pocket book but great for my soul
Every single guitar you promote is the best guitar you ever play.
Not every guitar! Usually that status is reserved for the bouchers, A couple other builders and top of the line handmade Yamaha guitars
When you play as well as he does, you tend to make every guitar sound like the best guitar you've ever played.
I don;t think 'promote' is quite the word here; it's not a paid-promotion thing or a sales thing. It's more of a "here's a nice rig that I wouldn't mind owning, or using in my road show"
My favorite brand is first act… man those sound good
That's because he only plays killer guitars!
Spartan is not neccesarily a negative.
As a matter of fact i dont like bling at all.
I traded loads of abalone and shell of different types in exchange for various woods.
I tend to go for more basic visuals.
for sure, for sure
bravo JP!. I found a second hand FYM70 at a steal a few years ago, and now i will only by Yairi alvarez guitars.....maybe i need a JP Cormier Alvarez
Incredible guitar for an incredible artist and human being!! Congratulations!!
Nice I much prefer this to the YAMAHA G9. Sounds fantastic I want one. And I'm so happy for you. Nobody has offered me a Mitch Malloy model since Peavey in 1992 before they knew how to build a guitar so I said no. Then Ed came to them and taught them how to make a guitar. Anyway.. Congratulations sir. I love that guitar. :>)
and... You deserve such a guitar John... Undoubtedly... one of the best guitars I have heard... anywhere... and you have played many of the best over the years... Very interesting ??? Headstock, Cut-away and "Joined at the 12th"... Congratulations !
??? Sub CAD$3500 for a Signature Yairi with LR Baggs HiFi? I've just been quoted CAD$4200 for a "standard" DYM70HD (?)
Like they say "it rings like a bell"!...
Looks like a fantastic beauty.
I managed to get a 000 Merle Haggard. #14 or 122 made. Slotted headstock. It is such a fantastic instrument.
Tell Chris I would order one.
Rob
I have the DYMR70 which is similar, but no cutaway. It’s the best sounding guitar I ever owned. The cutaway version addresses the upper register access. You’ve got a masterpiece.
Awesome. Just left Kani and was pursuing a new redwood/rosewood DYM 74. But now I am torn asunder by your signature version. I love it and want one.
I have been eyeing Dym74 also I want to hear it
Jp will they come with a Cedar top?? option.. Cedar seems to be rare now days .Both my Yairi and Cordoba had Cedar and are great sounding. Also Have you tried the New ToneBar yet .? I bought one and put it into the DY61 Yairi.. I am so impressed with the sound.. for 10 bucks its a amazing upgrade. Congrats on your Yairi . Im trying to find a dealer in Oregon..
ARE YOU KIDDING!?!?!?? YES!!! Yes please, want one- my hand needs a more plain-jane neck profile though; any way they would flatten the V for me? But please quote me a price!
12-fret dreads are my favorites - completely different sound than the most commonly seen 14 fret instruments. Looks and sounds great - many congrats!
Congrats JP! This sounds awesome, but for my taste, nothing you have posted compares to the Yamaha FGX5. That guitar for me, blows everything you have tested out of the water.
Super congrats John. You deserve your own model my guitar brother. I'm way down here in Austin Tx. and I love your channel a lot. You are the best guy a person could know. I just messaged legendary Austin guitarist Monte Montgomery about this awesome video. Check him out because he's been playing the same Alvarez guitar for at least 30 years. He named his guitar "Excalibur ". Love you brother and thanks for your fun guitar channel.
You said in another vid you played all over the world for 39 years. I was wondering what problems different humidity /climates caused and what would be a good guitar to bring on a sailing yacht on the ocean? Salty air plus corrosion sort of the worst possible environment for an acoustic? Thanks 🙏
John, I have enjoyed many of your videos. I have been looking for a 12 fret guitar. I bought the Yairi FYM66HD after watching your video. I would be interested in buying a JP Cormier 12 fret. As per your request please let Alverez know you have brought a great guitar oout again.
Congratulations! I would be interested in purchasing one👍
Awesome guitar JP! You deserve to have the best! The Yairi symbol appears to have two Y's and two A's to my eye anyway...just sayin'!
This is such an awesome guitar and such an honor I got choked up just watching your face and listening to you play it too! Looking at that beauty I'd have to say that the break angle on those strings with that bridge setup is supplying maximum down pressure on the soundboard...I would think that this has to be one of the main reasons for the awesome clarity of this instrument🙂
Wow! Beautiful J.P. Love the uniqueness and I am sure the Hifi will kill live. Bring her to Nashville! (Have you named this one yet?) I need to quit watching your content, my kids inheritance is going to shit, but they will own some bad ass guitars!
I woul be interested in buying this signature model. Have been interested in a mahogany backed 12 fret slothead dread! Hope I can afford it!
I want one. That’s the sound I’ve been wanting.🤠🎶❤️
Would love to have one of your signature A/Yari models. Let me know who to contact.
Congrats JP….How many “easy” payments for that model…lol
Hey, JP - I’m in. Let me know how to PM you with my specifics to buy one of these. Thanks!
I want one to go along with my 1985 Alvarez-Yairi DY-96!
The sound is so rich.
Wow...its brighter then the Yamaha, but both sustain amazingly and are very clear. That guitar is perfect. Love the design! That head stock and bridge are killer. I want one with a natural top!! This coming from a drummer!!😂
Awesome song at the end dude. We really need to be able to purchase all your music in tab form. There is so much music that you play that I want to learn. I love everything you play pretty much.
Congratulations again! You have earned the privilege. 🍻👍
I ordered one from The Acoustic Shoppe based on this video and their recommendation.
Ok J P. I want one. Couldn't figure out how to message you, so I just put it on here
Is it just me, or why is it that every time i watch your videos, i want to buy a guitar.
I wanted to get a boucher for my next guitar. But now you got me reconsidering this guitar instead
A plays great as a brand new guitar. I hope you bring it back on the show in two or three years and show us how it's opened up! 😎
What's the price for one?
Nice guitar, love that sunburst. Sounds awesome. I would be interested in one.
Beautiful instrument and sounds amazing
Very nice. Any chance this has a 1.75 nut? Thx...
You know..What is your favorite? Seems there are quite a few.
Well it's clearly Boucher, in the overall. But his overall vibe is that there are many high-quality choices out there, available and affordable, beyond the big three.
You da man🤙🏽 I got the FYM 66 HD from your review…. It is one of the very best Iʻve ever gotten.🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽
Well at this point in time….. I cannot buy your signature Alverez Yairi….. BUT … Iʻd sure want one in a few years if at all possible…. Love what you do….. love Chris M & Dee? Most assuredly Bouchere ❤️🤙🏽 I want that one too🎼🤙🏽 Mahalo,
Kekai Chock
Līhuʻe-Kauaʻi, HAWAIʻI
Congrats!!!
There is a tiny volute. Maybe it’s not intentional.
I can’t find it anywhere on their website???
Beautiful guitar and congrats!
How much more less in price? That is piece of art
JP, I would be interested in owning one of these.
Congratulations! Outstanding guitar. Just having an Alveraz Yairi with your name on it is a great honor. Chris said on a video recently that Yairi will run out of the 50 year old mahogany sometime this year. So if anyone is interested get one soon!
And the next time you sign up for the unofficial Martin forum use this guitar for your forum logo. Lol!
Thanks!
Congratulations JP.
You should do endorsements for local Kraft Beer Companies of the Maritimes!😀 Guitars and Beer go together !!
craft, with a "c"
Absolute Treasure!!
Im buying it
Congratulations Chris I too love Alvarez Yairi since 1986 when I bought a DY 75 with the regular saddle. I love that tone n volume it like a D28 . Then ion 2003 I bought a Dym 95 aura I found that model is really rare with a Fishman . I would love that 12 fret JP Yairi 🎸🎸🎸❤️
What a gorgeous & great sounding signature guitar! CONGRATS JP!!! Can anyone tell me what this guitar would cost in US dollars???
❤❤❤
You have a cool job😂
JP, you are truly spoiled!😁😁😁 Man, that sounds very nice through my Audio-Technica M50 headphones.
Sounds amazing. It’s very similar to the FG9 however to my ear the FG is a little deeper and richer down low. Amazing job playing as always. Cheers!
I wish I had the money to put toward one of these. I think m it’s the most versatile, capable of all of your sig models, disregarding the weird magic that comes from the Boucher (I don’t they belong in a fair comparison) The magic of the 1new -feet body but with the cutaway! And the slotted headstock! Should be a standard for all builders!
Sounds like birds flying out of that thing! Awesome guitar and player. Congrats JP.
Hello JP
Thanks to you I own a Yari FYM 66HD
Now I see your Yari model and I'm thinking a JP custom ,why not.
Watching you convinced me to buy an Alvarez Masterworks Parlor. Kudos.
That is so amazing! The sound is different from Boucher and Gallagher. That sounds like only a 50 year old Honduran Mahagony Yairi sounds. That is my favorite sound/tone. Wow! Wow!
I am super happy for you JP! The guitar sounds great and you were killing it with that last tune. It totally showed the dynamic range of the guitar - strong lows and crisp/clean highs. ...As a huge fan of the A & K. Yairi guitars, and since I have quite a few already, the next one I want to get is a full custom built to my specs. Some day I'll get to doing that...but might buy something close if I run into it between now and then...because GAS, you know...
