Well deserved honor. Chris is a stellar guy. And this design is phenomenal. You introduced me to Alvarez Yairi (and many others) and I’m all the better for it with my ‘89 DY-90. Always great to see good things bestowed on good people.
Superb guitar. The authority of the treble notes is striking, the magnificent sustain is very impressive and so on. Even simple C and G chords seem to say "This is what we should sound like"...
That Bruce Cockburn song at the end 20:36, played just like that is amazing ! True talent right there. This signature model is well deserved, congratulations JP !
Great sounding instrument and could potentially be the thing I’m looking for.Well done getting the JPC off the ground. Do you have a spec sheet nut width & radius? My current Yamaha DS4 has about a 43mm nut (about 1 + 22/32”). I think it’s really about how you feel these things. I tried a freind’s Yairi which felt perfect (D?70 or some such number). Anyway it felt like an old friend straight off. And oh did it sing. Being technical engineer type I got the DC bridge thing immediately. The action was good, projection and sustain. Nicely understated too but so well put together.
If anybody deserves to have a guitar built representing perfection in playing and performing it’s you JP! All of the companies that have built one with your name on it know this for a fact! Congratulations!
Very nice JP, this has to be one of the most unique and original guitars I've seen in a while, don't think I've seen a 12 fret slope shoulder dreadnought before, also with the slotted headstock and cutaway. I hope your enjoying it :)
Its interesting the different ways a lifetime of dedication and commitment and skill (and a little luck) can unfold. Congrats JP and thanks for sharing some of your world with the rest of us!!
Congratulations! Outstanding guitar. Just having an Alveraz Yairi with your name on it is a great honor. Chris said on a video recently that Yairi will run out of the 50 year old mahogany sometime this year. So if anyone is interested get one soon!
This is such an awesome guitar and such an honor I got choked up just watching your face and listening to you play it too! Looking at that beauty I'd have to say that the break angle on those strings with that bridge setup is supplying maximum down pressure on the soundboard...I would think that this has to be one of the main reasons for the awesome clarity of this instrument🙂
Greetings JP. Beautiful guitar. Quality all the way. I like looking at you when you first start to play...you don't hide your heartfelt honesty and admiration. You show that integrity and feel you have, with the expression of...oh my, can you hear this! I'm not so young, but a newbie in the acoustic guitar parlance. You know gratitude and the feeling of warmth and kindness. This video has that in spades. Also a bit "glassy eyed". Congratulations on this honor.
Lovely instrument!!! I have a new WYM1HD (cedar top, 50yo mahogany back and sides - magic gentle wonder) and an old yairi 12 string that I bought in 1982 which still sounds and plays like a dream. Such a great guitar maker - and congratulations on your amazing signature model!
Super congrats John. You deserve your own model my guitar brother. I'm way down here in Austin Tx. and I love your channel a lot. You are the best guy a person could know. I just messaged legendary Austin guitarist Monte Montgomery about this awesome video. Check him out because he's been playing the same Alvarez guitar for at least 30 years. He named his guitar "Excalibur ". Love you brother and thanks for your fun guitar channel.
This reminds me of the dymr70sb just with a mild cut away. I love it. I have the dyer 70sb and wished your model had been available when I got mine. This is definitely on my list for the next guitar I get!
Awesome song at the end dude. We really need to be able to purchase all your music in tab form. There is so much music that you play that I want to learn. I love everything you play pretty much.
Looks like a fantastic beauty. I managed to get a 000 Merle Haggard. #14 or 122 made. Slotted headstock. It is such a fantastic instrument. Tell Chris I would order one. Rob
Man, JP, I am so happy for you! You are an inspiration to me as a guitar player and this Yairi guitar is pure brilliance and perfection. It just sounds so amazing. I am blown away!
very cool!! I wish all my Martins had slotted head stocks! I also like the downward pressure it looks like it has at the bridge and saddle! I always say it makes better tone and volume and it looks and sounds like this guitar has plenty! thanks for sharing this bro!
Wow, that "Foxglove" performance brought a tear to my eye. Your love and enthusiasm for these guitars is an inspiration. Makes me want to drop whatever I am doing and go practice! Thank you and well deserved! Yairi guitars are truly remarkable.
Sounds Great! And that cutaway is slick! Just last week, I acquired a slot head Yairi, the DYMR70SB--I'm a bit obsessed with it! Currently, I have it tuned down a whole step and strung with 13s--the tone is unbelievable. What gauge do you have your signature model strung with?
Not surprising that Chris and his team did this. Your feature in Nashville with him was amazing and you could see how impressed he was with your performance. Just bought my 4th Alvarez and being a lefty my choices are limited but I am so pleased with the tone and quality of these guitars. I know they will never make these high-end beauties in left hand but that's ok, I am hooked for life on Alvarez. Congratulations JP, hope to hear you play this classic beauty in Halifax this summer. Cheers brother.
Congratulations, JP! Your new signature model from Alvarez-Yairi has all the features I would want in a guitar. I have actually been been considering an Alvarez-Yairi with the Honduran mahogany, and then your video appeared! I regularly view both your channel as well as Alvarez TV. You are very deserving of this honor. I would like to order one. Thank you!
I have the DYMR70 which is similar, but no cutaway. It’s the best sounding guitar I ever owned. The cutaway version addresses the upper register access. You’ve got a masterpiece.
Congratulations Chris I too love Alvarez Yairi since 1986 when I bought a DY 75 with the regular saddle. I love that tone n volume it like a D28 . Then ion 2003 I bought a Dym 95 aura I found that model is really rare with a Fishman . I would love that 12 fret JP Yairi 🎸🎸🎸❤️
I am super happy for you JP! The guitar sounds great and you were killing it with that last tune. It totally showed the dynamic range of the guitar - strong lows and crisp/clean highs. ...As a huge fan of the A & K. Yairi guitars, and since I have quite a few already, the next one I want to get is a full custom built to my specs. Some day I'll get to doing that...but might buy something close if I run into it between now and then...because GAS, you know...
A plays great as a brand new guitar. I hope you bring it back on the show in two or three years and show us how it's opened up! 😎 What's the price for one?
Im new to guitars amd I had never head of Yairi until you mentioned them. Now I'm really interested in trying one (especially this one bc it sounds sooo good)
You said in another vid you played all over the world for 39 years. I was wondering what problems different humidity /climates caused and what would be a good guitar to bring on a sailing yacht on the ocean? Salty air plus corrosion sort of the worst possible environment for an acoustic? Thanks 🙏
and... You deserve such a guitar John... Undoubtedly... one of the best guitars I have heard... anywhere... and you have played many of the best over the years... Very interesting ??? Headstock, Cut-away and "Joined at the 12th"... Congratulations !
Sincere congratulations JP! It is absolutely well deserved. We are all proud of you! Happy playin’ !
And I plan to get a jp Boucher too eventually
Saving up
I would put my Boucher against any guitar in the world! That's how good Robin's guitars are!
I would put my Boucher up against any guitar in the world! That's how good Robin's guitars are!
Super cool. Yairi is one of the best builders in the world.
OMG, JP your own signature Alvarez. What an honour and well deserved. It sings like a bird. What a moment 🕺🎸
Well deserved honor. Chris is a stellar guy. And this design is phenomenal. You introduced me to Alvarez Yairi (and many others) and I’m all the better for it with my ‘89 DY-90. Always great to see good things bestowed on good people.
Congratulations, and very well deserved!
Superb guitar. The authority of the treble notes is striking, the magnificent sustain is very impressive and so on. Even simple C and G chords seem to say "This is what we should sound like"...
Great sound . . . love the open head-stock, also love when you slip in a little Celtic run. Cheers.
Hi JP, Congratulations on your Alvarez-Yari signature model guitar. It’s a beauty!
I would love one of those just not a cutaway
The bottom end on it speaks with real clarity and assured strength; congrats J.P.
Cheers, Ross
That Bruce Cockburn song at the end 20:36, played just like that is amazing ! True talent right there. This signature model is well deserved, congratulations JP !
Such a beautiful guitar JP. Good for you brother. You deserve it. You're a wicked player, songwriter and singer. Love your music man.
Well done! When you get a signature model you've made it into a small group of great guitar players. Congrats man.
Love it when acoustics project your voice as soon as you pick 'em up. 🎙
One fine sounding Alvarez. Good job J.P.
Wow. That guitar truly sounds remarkable. Congrats JP

Congratulations J.P. YOU DESIRE IT. GOD BLESS!!

God has really blessed you sir...
Its interesting the different ways a lifetime of dedication and commitment and skill (and a little luck) can unfold. Congrats JP and thanks for sharing some of your world with the rest of us!!
Well deserved and a grate recognition of your musicianship. I bougth my first K.Yairi back in 94’ and been a big fan since then.
Congratulations! Outstanding guitar. Just having an Alveraz Yairi with your name on it is a great honor. Chris said on a video recently that Yairi will run out of the 50 year old mahogany sometime this year. So if anyone is interested get one soon!
And the next time you sign up for the unofficial Martin forum use this guitar for your forum logo. Lol!

What a lovely guitar and tribute to JP. I'm still in love with my DB60BG, won in the contest a couple of years ago.
Wonderful guitar J.P.. You indeed deserve it. I would like to get on the list to purchase one. Thanks!
Greetings JP.
Beautiful guitar.

Congratulations on this honor.
12-fret dreads are my favorites - completely different sound than the most commonly seen 14 fret instruments. Looks and sounds great - many congrats!
Congrats!!!
WOW! Couldn't wait for him to stop yapping lol, wanted to hear the guitar! WOW, blew my head off!
It's impossible not getting emotional when you receive this kind of gift, I know I would feel beyond honored
It sounds like it has a built-in chorus or something. beautiful sound
Congratulations, JP. Beautiful sound - it has a Yari sound, slightly delicate and sensitive. Blessings.
We’ll this Papaw got one of the grands Christmas presents 🎉ordered 7/10/2024 DYMR JP Cormier
I sure appreciate the time JP spent with Adam A my son!

Amazing and awesome! Congrats from the sunny South USA. Crisp, bright and clean with nice ring. Nice EQ balance. You have made it Bro!

Means a lot coming from you!!

Incredible guitar for an incredible artist and human being!! Congratulations!!

Wow is right 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽 Congrats on a Great guitar!
Awesome. Just left Kani and was pursuing a new redwood/rosewood DYM 74. But now I am torn asunder by your signature version. I love it and want one.
I have been eyeing Dym74 also I want to hear it
All I could say is “Wow “ love the design and of course the sound. Well done JP!

Perhaps one day!
Nice guitar, love that sunburst. Sounds awesome. I would be interested in one.

JP I am interested in purchasing one. After your review of the Boucher GR-SG-161-T I purchased one. It’s an amazing guitar!!
So did. JP is bad for my pocket book but great for my soul
I want one. That’s the sound I’ve been wanting.🤠🎶❤️
Congratulations JP, you really deserve it !
The sound is so rich.
Someone finally understood the assignment.
Nice guitar, J.P!
Happy new year, man.
Congrats Big Guy 🎉
Congratulations! I would be interested in purchasing one👍
Sounds amazing. It’s very similar to the FG9 however to my ear the FG is a little deeper and richer down low. Amazing job playing as always. Cheers!
Congrats JP! That’s a gorgeous instrument. Sounds unreal. Love it! …. Maybe one day I can get one, until then…. I will play my LL-16D.
I am super happy for you JP! The guitar sounds great and you were killing it with that last tune. A plays great as a brand new guitar. I hope you bring it back on the show in two or three years and show us how it's opened up! 😎
What's the price for one?
Beautiful instrument and sounds amazing
Im new to guitars amd I had never head of Yairi until you mentioned them. Now I'm really interested in trying one (especially this one bc it sounds sooo good)
I want one to go along with my 1985 Alvarez-Yairi DY-96!
I spoke to Alvarez and it looks like January ‘25. That is a beautiful guitar. The best tone.
Great guitar, great player, and a wonderful Bruce Cockburn tune/performance as the cherry on top.
Hope fully you could sell them at Long and McQuade - across Canada . ✨🇨🇦✨
It really sings. Wonderful sounding
Wonderful as always with JP. I reckon he'd make an old Eko sound fabulous but this guitar sounds exceptional.
Nice one! Been fun watching your ride. Much Love and Respect.
Congratulations JP.
You said in another vid you played all over the world for 39 years. I was wondering what problems different humidity /climates caused and what would be a good guitar to bring on a sailing yacht on the ocean? Salty air plus corrosion sort of the worst possible environment for an acoustic? Thanks 🙏
Already in the market for an mdr70. Probably not a Yairi buyer, but a Masterworks version would be ideal for me.
I keep coming back to listen to this guitar again
I can’t do dreads anymore, they are too big for me but I’d order one in a heart beat in OM or 000
Beautiful guitar and congrats!
Im choked up for you...its the sound ive been lookung for for 10 years❤
Watching you convinced me to buy an Alvarez Masterworks Parlor. Kudos.
Wow. Congratulations. Thank you for sharing. Anthony Ireland
Hello JP
Thanks to you I own a Yari FYM 66HD
Now I see your Yari model and I'm thinking a JP custom ,why not.
and... You deserve such a guitar John... Undoubtedly... one of the best guitars I have heard... anywhere... and you have played many of the best over the years... Very interesting ??? Headstock, Cut-away and "Joined at the 12th"... Congratulations !
