My DYM60HD is every bit the guitar that is advertised and more. With most things in life that I've gotten excited over, the reality of having that thing rarely exceeds the excitement of getting it. This guitar has lived up to that type for me.
I just bought a YB70 and a DY1SB today. They’ll be delivered next week. I’ve been dreaming about these guitars for years! I’m so happy I’m in a position to have them!
My Yairi DYM60HDE is my favorite acoustic of the past 61 years. 1.75 inch nut, great balanced volume, wide performance timbre, seemingly infinite volume dynamics, visually beautiful in every aspect, superb tone. It is my #1 by far. After selling around 50+ acoustic guitars (my personal collection) in the the past 15 years I am loving: #1, Yairi DYM60HDE; #2 Martin 2018 D-18; #3 Yairi DYM75 (1.75" nut): #4 Gibson 2000 Advanced Jumbo (Adirondack top). I think my DYM60HDE might be a one-of-a-kind. It is superb. I am so lucky I found it.
I’m a Singer-songwriter/independent recording artist, and a total acoustic guitar geek! You have my very favorite content on RUclips (or anywhere else for that matter!). Listening with headphones again and while they all sound great, that GYM60HD in the A-Bs is for me THE standout! It’s my next dream guitar (or one of the Yairi OM, 66 or 60 HD). 12:27 comparisons wow!!!
From what I understand, for the most part the fst6 bracing is similar to the fst2 just lighter. My question is, when the Yairi lutheriers were hand carving the the fst2 bracing. Why didn't they carve the bracing so it would be lighter in the first place. I thought they were using their experience to get the best sound out of the top anyway.
Mine is the all mahogany set all the way to the right at the beginning, the FYM66HD. One of the finest instruments I've ever played let alone ever owned. I aspire to do it justice!
Heheh sometimes I watch these just to listen to awesome tunes you guys play! Bravo. Incredible guitars. My DYM70 is stunning but I might trade it toward one of these.
I get super excited every time I see one of your new videos show up in my feed!! I’ll tell you, I’ve been thinking about the Yairi OMs but I am definitely a grand auditorium lover and have four of them (one is a baritone) from three different companies. I was really thinking I wanted to get a Yairi FYM, at some point, and it is still definitely on the table! I have a Furch Yellow Master’s Choice Gc-CR Cedar-Rosewood w/ Cutaway. However that Yairi Addie-Honduran GYM has really peaked my interest and falls sonically into my sweet spot! I’ve listened to some on the Alvarez compare and it sounds incredible! That may be the perfect complement to my Cedar- Rosewood guitar!
I just bought my first Alvarez, an FYM66HD and it is a stunning instrument! Is this Honduran mahogany stained or did it get this color from sitting in that parking lot for half a century?
stunning sounds! So, fellas, how 'bout your team compiles a BUNCH of your playing examples from these videos and release those videos on your channel? I could listen to your playing all day! 🥰
The Honduran series have been out about five years now. Why is this the first mention that it's not really Adirondack. I get that some consider red spruce the same regardless of where it comes from. But why wasn't this mentioned in any of the previous videos? I for one thought my original Fym60hd had Adirondack spruce from the Adirondack region. Nothing was suggested otherwise.
Nobody uses Adirondack Red Spruce because that stuff basically doesn't exist in quantity anymore. They would need to plant Red Spruce trees in the Adirondacks and then wait hundreds or thousands of years for the forest to fill out and get the same type of wood that once grew there. (And yes thousands of years because it would take multiple generations of long lived trees which is important for how the trees are able to grow in their environment and does effect the wood) The Adirondack Mountains are part of the Appalachian Mountain Range which runs from the southeast US through the northeast US and into Canada. Pretty much any time you see "Adirondack Spruce" or Red Spruce on a guitar it came from the Red Spruce trees that grew throughout the range, but did not come from the Adirondack region specifically. It MIGHT be possible to get actual Adirondack Red Spruce from a small boutique builder who builds a couple of dozen guitars a year, but there's not a way to source it for anyone building at scale like Alvarez, Eastman, Gibson, Martin, Taylor, etc. This isn't Alvarez being misleading thing, it's just that the term Adirondack Spruce originally referred to Adirondack Red Spruce but over time has come to mean Red Spruce (which is the same species of wood, but lost the geographical meaning as that is no longer possible).
Thanks for taking the time for your explanation. I lived in the Adirondack mountains, going between Plattsburgh, NY and Saranac Lake for 4 1/2 years. At the time I wasn't interested in guitars. That time period was some of the best years of my life. Anyway, a few years ago I got interested in guitars. I came across an article on the Honduran series with Adirondack. Thought I would buy one as a reminder of the good years I had there. Sort of a letdown when I found out the wood has no connection to the area. But it's the best guitar I have ever owned and I'll keep it for life.
@@musicianmadness6964 I actually ordered one back in March and received shipment in early June. I'd be curious to get your thoughts on the redwood/rosewood combination? (If yours is anything like mine -- it's the best new guitar I've seen/played.)
I like you guys i really do, but i find some videos are a bit 'samey samey'. I dunno like they just need something a bit more to engage with viewers rather than just talking/playing. Sorry just an observation.
These guitars sound so crystal clear. They are so articulate.

I have the GYM-70CESHB, FYM-70, and FYM-60HD.
I love them all. I'm on the fence about getting the DYM-60HD or the GYM-60HD?
Congratulations! Look and sound great
Yeah!!! A true accoustic guitar...meaning no onboard electronics
Holy shit, guys. What beautiful sound!

The FYM is to my ear the best of the bunch and it's a perfect size. BUT not available in the UK. Why is that?
hi! nice guitar for playing lovers.
Real shame you can't get these guitars in the UK. I can't understand why.
7:12 Looks like the new DYM74?
I have a DYM74 in my shop if you'd like some videos or pictures of it?

Too bad these Yairi are not available in Europe!

You go to the trouble to make a video and you don't even play all of the guitars in the line. What about the 12-fret????
Rosewood, chief. This was about the Hogs.
