I’m just excited for Affliction. Even if my DPS isn’t on top anymore, it’s so much more enjoyable to play. And we’re 100% putting a Warlock PvP team together to dot the shit out of everyone.
I think the way of Lake of Fire SHOULD work would be it goes UP TO 30 seconds at full duration. So maybe for a quick cas mt like people have been doing it leaves a 5 second duration that gives additional time up to 30 seconds (or something) if channeled for full duration. I think this would be a good way to “thread the needle” for the rune. Also making it clear of how it is supposed to work. On the tool tip, it says it only affects you and your minion, but as far as we could tell, the debuff has been affecting all incoming fire damage and reads that way on the mobs standing in it. Also, they REALLY need to do something about areas like Ratchet and SM. This stupid ability of the Horde to sit at the FPs and just camp/kill any alliance for honor as soon as you land in there is ridiculous. Either make those type of areas fully contested so alliance can fight back or put in more guards around the FPs and areas so there are consequences for them doing it. This is getting old really quick of having them be able to do this with absolutely no repercussions available for alliance to fight back.
i think the damage is low on the immolate aura because the lock tanks are going to have a blast with MASSIVE aoe aggro cause its increased in meta form!
More annoying for some people than anything else, especially on moving bosses like menagerie. Just something to monitor and some people don't like that.
I would love to see them change it where the duration of Lake of Fire is based on how long you channel it. That would be a great way for them to do it and give a happy medium for it. Maybe it only lasts 5 seconds if you do what we have been, but if you hold it for the full 8 seconds it goes up to 30-45 seconds. It is still effectively nerfed, but at the start of the pull, it would actually be more effective, because you could pre drop it (so long as the tank knows to keep them standing in it. Also maybe make it so that you can “add to the time of it if you drop a new Rain of Fire where the old one is, so that you could refresh it. It would them reward players for keeping it up bf punish those that let it fall off.
Not surprised we are getting the nerf bat finally. We got through phase 2 at the top of the DPS charts and it was inevitable we were next. Just glad we can hopefully move onto affliction builds instead of the Destro from phase 1 and 2.
Well with the addition to fel guard, you could start running grimoire of synergy for the 25% damage buff to both pet and caster. It’s quite strong when it procs, and since fel guard is melee AND he has a short CD cast on cleave it could be that much more viable.
No1 enjoyed lake of fire gameplay man :P glad its out! What we need is Casting Pushback protection like Druids get from Eclipse. Or just make Unsatble affliction instant

On second thought, lake of fire should’ve worked similarly to master channeler for drain life but as an aoe effect, while removing the % dmg modifier entirely. An instant cast aoe ability that you set and forget would’ve been nice for tanks & pvp situations.
I didn't like LoF, but I didn't want to see a rune get crushed either. I really hope at some point we see runes reworked. LoF could have easily been a reworked into an aoe dot like a mage's Flamestrike, then drop the damage by whatever % to "balance" it. Unless Backdraft can save it LoF is just going to go the way of Shadowflame.
Wait! I just realized, Lake of fire might not be completely dead. I think the new meta will be using your lake of fire right after conflag, using that backdraft proc. (Unless I misunderstand how this works), this would bring the channel time down to about 5 seconds, which trades 2 incinerate casts for 50% bonus fire damage for 15 seconds. Just need to really make sure you dont cancel early or get hit by any boss mechanic
10% reduced spell damage and free AOE damage sounds pretty good, and we know that the damage will (probably) scale with levels like everything else. I think this will be a great rune for AOE pulls for tanks to just give that little bit of extra help with holding threat. The other question would be, is the tool tip we are seeing showing what the damage would be if we got it at level 1 or level 50? If that damage doubled by level 40 it would be the equivalent of getting an incinerate off pre pull I would think for a HF AOE.
Using DT instead of LoF is about 110 dps loss. Conflag every 10 sec is about 65 dps loss and the 30% haste is about 90 dps increase so a total of 30 dps increase. Overall its about 85/10% dps loss.
ouch, those immolation aura numbers are way too low. Looking at wowhead's talent calculator, Shadowflame hits for 103 initial damage where immolation aura is 32dmg per tick... And it ticks every 2 sec... So it would take ~6sec of immolation aura to = 1 frontal cone Shadowflame (and this isn't including the dot). Feels bad.
I keep getting mixed reviews on whether or not to use immolate in place of unstable affliction. Only 1 can be active from a single warlock at a time. Been hearing UA does not scale properly. What is the verdict? @Crix
things looking great for warlock pvp tho, SL with now added corruption, improved drain life, pandemic and unstable affliction/felguard will be crazy to play against :D

Would lead to more interesting rotations, but also more strategy with your mana conservation since you'd be casting it more frequently (I'd probably use it right before each chaos bolt, and each conflag next phase if that were the case)
For affliction with pandemic rune do you think it would be better going demonic tactics on chest instead of master channeler for more crit? Then invocation + everlasting affliction runes so whenever you refresh corruption for free it also does extra damage + saves you mana and a GCD. Or does master channeler + grimoire of synergy + demonic pact just straight up outway that combo in terms of dps
If you just consume the immolate at the end of its duration its nbd. Only initially recasting so you would incin into chaos bolt maybe and then immo into conflag then immo again then incin till chaos bolt after chaos bolt conflag then immolate and repeat. After you chaos bolt immolate should have about 2 to 3 seconds left unless spell haste shortens the debuff or reduces the cd on chaos bolt like attack speed does with melee cd abilites. Destro will also be a fine pvp spec.
imo Immolation Aura should have been like Master Channeler but for the Hellfire spell. More mana, reduced personal damage, cooldown. Something like that, Maybe reduced damage too since it's just an aoe threat ability
I wonder if the rune will also work with demonic sacrifice so you have all the dmg increase and hp/mana reg. Then something like 5/21/15 sounds pretty viable to me. With Pandamic and a sac felguard

I've been saying from the start "as a warlock I belong in the middle of the pack". It feels weird being at the top of the meter, hopefully this puts us at 4th or 5th so I can feel like a true warlock again.
I was hoping for new runes that make destro viable in PvP (like shadowfury or an anti-pushback). And not the Meta spam searing pain destro, the real one.
Because they were literally top parsing class almost bar none. We kinda needed the nerf, lake of fires damage % was way too high to begin with lol. Critting for 5x your health pool seems excessive to me haha
I wish Lake of Fire worked like Demon Hunter’s Sigil of Flame. After a delay, let it apply a Fire DoT or keep a smaller increase in Fire damage, but if it worked off a delay like sigils it would be a fun gameplay change.

Fel guard was back in days so good spell Fel guard could tank and dps same pet.. It dosent matter so much that warlocks spells sucks , becase fel guard did all job.. Affliction getting some love is nice to see. Its will be good in pve and especially pvp.

Shadow Cleave would actually be a fantastic thing for us, if they removed it from the GCD.

There’s no guarantee this is the final version we’ll see when phase 3 goes live. Lots of the phase 2 datamines were off on the numbers
