I got the same for 140 at Walmart
Ok, cool, I can do that 😅🤝
Single gal here. Thank you so much for this video. I just bought this unit for an upstairs bedroom. I was looking for what tools I need as well.
Thank you so much!!! I’m a gal all by myself and this helped so much I would’ve totally missed a bunch of crucial steps without the video
Picked up two of these recently as the main unit went out. Had to do a lot of secondary sealing as we have metal window surfaces. Stuffing thin slices of foam under the louver ruffles as there is a considerable gap for bugs to enter (you can see the light coming in the gap in the video). The foam will push the ruffles up to the top of the channel and mostly seal the bottom. The spots where the louvers get fed into the unit body should also be taped or stuffed with foam for additional sealing.
Additionally, use the foil tape and more foam to stuff in various areas like the small side corners that meet the upper window retainer. Seal the small hole at the front (foil tape) and more foil tape along the top as there are quite a few small entry points. All in all a good unit so far. Thanks for the video!
I have the same air conditioner. I took it out because the air filter didn't want to go back in easily most times. Comes out perfectly but getting it back in was a pain. Okay I just reinstalled that AC after examining how the air filter goes back in. There are upper and lower tracks for the air filter. Problem solved...LOL Just have to use both hands to slightly bend it into the tracks and it goes it just fine.. BTW that is a GREAT AC and blows nice cold air. Thank you for posting this video. I was about to buy a new one.
I just bought this same one used and I'm lost on where the filter even is I think mine is missing . Any tips
@@Kottyn513it’s in the side
We just purchased the same one earlier today, and we needed a little help from a friend ❤ thank you 😊
Thank you so much for this video!! As a single mom this was so helpful! I even got my boy to help some! Thank you!
Thank you very much. Watching you made it much simpler than reading the instructions.
Great to hear! Happy to help!
just bought one like this, my window wasn’t like your window and was a little more difficult to secure , still got it on you helped a ton !
Haha I feel so thankful you showed up how to put the arms on 😭😊
Thank you! Just installed. Our AC went out and won't get serviced for another day so this was the best and simplest option.
Nice work, Matt. I cant live without an AC. 👍
That's a cute air conditioner you got there
Great Vid. also love the way you dropped the loaded screen. Cheers from Southern New Jersey.
thank you so much! You just help me install the same air conditioner I was looking on RUclips because I didn't know what all of these parts were but I got it in now. Thank you very much
Thank you very much!!!
I was eyeing this AC at Walmart but was questioning the installation, because I have Vinyl Windows.
Now, I'm off to Walmart!!! 👍
Did you screw into the vinyl window frame?
@@rampage_45 Are you supposed to screw into the vinyl frame?
@@sallyire1 Not sure. Need the answer myself.
@@rampage_45 Thanks. I have brand new vinyl windows at my cottage and don't want to damage them. Hopefully someone will respond.
@@sallyire1 Best of luck. I'll be patiently waiting for advice too.
Just installed my first AC with this! TYSM ❤
Wow this is on POINT. THANK YOU
Thank you for this video because the inside for this unit aren’t helpful and it saved us from a hot mess trying to fit those shades in and an even hotter argument between me and the hubby! Nothing like getting home from vacation at 1:00 am and waking up at 6:00 to no ac and a heat warning on your anniversary to set tempers off!
It really helped. I just got the exact Ac today. Thank you and God bless you
tysm my mom woulednt help me cause she was mad and me this helped alot
Thank you for posting! I already take out and clean the filter, but can you make a video showing how to take the unit apart and clean the inside? Water and dirt can collect in the bottom towards the back of the unit that is exposed outside. I have a very similar air conditioner, it's a Midea 5000 model number MAW05M1WBL.
I just bought one yesterday and didn’t install the sides correct. Thanks to your video it’s right now. Mine also does not drain??
Thank you! Definitely so much easier than figuring it out with the instructions
Thank you so much!!!!!! From Rhode Island ❤
Thank you!!! You saved my bacon today!!!
Great video!
Thank you for this video. I was able to install it myself with your help!
Thanks for the help. Midea was kind enough to give me 3 screws and not 4 lol. It still worked out though.
Outstanding post. You've got skills! I appreciate the post.
Well....of course you make it look easy! It did look pretty easy. It's a nice little compact size, perfect for a bedroom.
Nice back up to the central system if it should go out, pretty good price. Being in Florida, the last thing you want during our hot humid summers, is for the AC to go out. I was surprised there's no bracket attached to the house to hold it up. I would want it secured a bit more, make it more difficult for anyone to get in. Also, more insulation over the side panels couldn't hurt.
Thanks, The video was very informative and helpful 👍🏻
Question yall were does the water drain come out from 😅just noticed water getting full in there turned it off
Thanks for the video it was very easy for me to put mines together step by step great video !❤
Mines is not leaking
Mines isn’t leaking so what can I do?
I have the same a/c. Thank you. This was pretty easy. I think even I can do this.
I always cut dowels/broom sticks to length to fit between top of bottom sash and window frame.
Same here, beats putting holes in your sash
Do you know the temperature that this blows out? I have a brand new Midea that blows out about 60 degrees that is similar but with digital controls and it’s decent but my other GE ac unit blows 10 degrees colder but it is 6000 btu. I’m debating returning my current Midea or if this is how all 5000 btu models are?
Thank you ! I just installed it. Works great !!
I know this is simple but thank you . Got one that’s 6,000 250ft for 299$
Maybe I should have watched this video before I dropped the ac unit 3 stories because i thought i could install it alone
Yikes!!
What do u do on the outside to keep rain etc coming in and sitting on the inside of your window on either side of the sill
I just found out about this channel. And I'm going to subscribe to it - right now.
Love it! 😁 thank you!
How is it after a month?
I didn't received brackets, weather strips any other suggestions? Thanks
Thank you from California
I need 2 of these! One bedroom window goes up n down. The other slides left n right. How can i get a window unit for the slider?
I have one to it works amazing
Does this have a drainage hole??? Im been strugging looking for info on it and nothing is popping up and it keeps leaking inside the house even when we have it tilted it jist keeps pour water inside and it messed up the wall 😭
HI, since there are no numbers to set your desired temperature does the ac have a sensor that cut it on and off when it reaches a certain temperature like how does that work? I don't want to purchase an AC the runs constantly/nostop im more of a 75-78 guy
Hey! It does have a thermostat and an adjustment knob for it.
@@thefixerhomerepair2 thanks but where is it located
I'm still struggling with placement in my window. Large gaps at bottom of AC & window sill. I rent & it's aluminum & plastic window casing, so not going to drill holes to secure. Plus,I can't find the drain hole. Got a lot of rain last night & it was still pretty full of water tonight & not draining anywhere? Poorest directions in a manual ever. So, I'm still not sure if it's in my window correctly. I used masking tape around the accordian doors so bugs won't get in.
Just bought this AC and its not cooling enough, any suggestions?
Thanks
Thank you for this video.
The instructions state to tilt it back, but it seems like you were saying to tilt it forward. I might've misunderstood you. Please clarify.
Yes you need to tilt it back towards the outside…
Thank you!!
I know these are inexpensive and they work well, but I wish the saddle a/c style would take over and come down to the same price point as the box units.
along as there is refrigerant in the compressor no need to let it sit upright for two hours.
I am just recommending what the company recommends. You can do what you want at your own risk. 👍
Wouldnt the water start coming out of the front onto your floor? Its atleast doing that for me.
Thank you!
Doesnt foam go at the top in-between the window and the unit
Yikes hope I’m okay without the foam, I installed it all by myself but the manual didn’t say what to do with it lol
Nice work
Does the ac have to sit outside the window or am I aloud to plop it on something inside instead
Ot blows warm air out the back so that will defeat the purpose.
I put the brackets on myself. I was so proud of myself. 😅
I just bought one of these for my Sons room , as I have one and works great . But there looks like there is styrofoam inside of it , keeping it from working properly . I’m a widow and didn’t notice this styrofoam inside until I could see it’s not as cool as it should be . I looked inside and saw this styrofoam’s inside ?? Help !
Did u get the styrofoam out? I’m having the same problem but don’t know if it’s supposed to stay in or if I should take it out
@@saraabu-rubieh3111 Is yours cooling ? Because mine is not cooling .
I used gorrilla tape instead of the screws, I rent, I want my security back! Lol
I’m supposed to leave the foam inside aren’t I
This work good?
So far so good! 👍 cools off about 250 sq ft pretty quick. It is in the basement, maybe that helps. 🤷♂️. I’m happy with it though, especially for the price!
@thefixerhomerepair2 since there are no numbers to set your desired temperature does the ac has a sensor that cut it on and off when it reaches a certain temperature like how does that work? I don't want to purchase an AC the runs constantly/nostop
I have a norpole 5000 btu

Midea is working hard by paying left and right for RUclips "reviews" lol
Guess I forgot to mention "not sponsored"... Been getting real hot here, went to walmart for diapers and came home with this as well. 😂
@@thefixerhomerepair2 10+ same "review" videos comes up in search for same Midea 5k BTU model for last month. I guess it's just a coincidence . Yeah right.
@@raulrse That's kinda how RUclips works. It recommends videos based on your habits on the platform. I guess stop searching for and watching them and they will stop coming up. 🤷🏻♂😂 Now that you interacted with this video you will probably see even more. Sorry.
Bad tutorial my ac fell down and broke because he didn’t explain well
😢
All bs is never as easy as they say
This was so frustrating to watch. I don’t understand why people won’t read the instructions. I just can’t with this…
Then why didn’t you just… read the instructions? 🤔
@@thefixerhomerepair2 LOL. I will when I pick it up tomorrow. I was hoping your video would give me a good preview, but we just work very differently.
@@riggs20 why would you come on a video that says how to install expecting a review? You do work very differently cause you can't comprehend or read.
@@kingkonvikzion11 LOL! I didn’t expect a review. I typed “preview.” Which of us can’t read again Einstein? 😂
I went to Walmart and got me a 6000 BTU Madea I put mine in my bathroom window because it is higher how can I find me one of those slot machine I want one who I need to talk to I am a retired truck driver I live here in Mobile Alabama
