    Today we helped a Boston couple cool off their home gym with the Installation of a Brand New 2024 12,000 BTU Midea U-Shaped Inverter, Split Window, Air Conditioner. This one is special as it has M-Shield which is Midea's new built in Ionizer Technology. There is no central HVAC system in this old house, so a window unit is their only option.
    See why Midea has quickly become the number 1 selling brand in the USA. By separating the condenser coil, compressor and fan motors from the interior evaporator coil and fan motor, Midea has created a quiet and efficient window A/C.

    Easily the most helpful video and explanation without all of the corny commentary and nonsense I’ve seen in other videos. Straightforward, calm and just plain helpful. Thank you. You saved my life. Also, millennial here- didn’t have a level to use on a refinishing project I was doing and ‘eyeballed’ it. Hats off to boomers that are tech savvy and showed me there’s an app for that 😂 thanks again! Cheers

    Just ordered one of these tonight for the upstairs large bedroom in a house built in 1926. Old wooden single pane with storm windows. Hoping the install isn't prohibitive like other old window AC's in the past. This one looks pretty well designed.

    works great. BUT,
    if you ledge sits too far out plus is deeper than the drop of the pair of outside braces, then maybe reconsider purchase,
    OR plan a way to have the outside to sit on such a big ledge, MAYBE bricks, or something, BUT you must make sure that you set that up so your outside of Medea inclines the recommended.
    READ the manual. Great cooling power. Decent features.
    Home Depot app or Manufacturer has the installation instructions,
    READ BEFORE YOU BUY.
    Definitely cools nicely. Definitely quiet compared to most others because the heavy duty motor is outside.

    Do I have to take off drain plug after installation to drain water, you didn’t say in your video, if I don’t take it off, will it be there any problem?

    • @elitehandyman911
      @elitehandyman911  2 дня назад

      Leave it in. The only time to drain is if you’re prepping for winter storage.

  • @pmaint1
    @pmaint1 12 дней назад +1

    Just installed one of these yesterday so far so food. Blows super cold air. But for the life of me can't find the drain hole.

    • @elitehandyman911
      @elitehandyman911  12 дней назад +1

      No drain hole for now.
      The condensation flows from inside to outside via gravity, then once outside, sits in the pan and gets splashed up onto the condenser coil. That's by design. This makes it more efficient than other window A/C units. There is a rubber plug on the bottom of the pan of some models, but only use this to empty the pan before storing for the winter then put it back in.

    • @pmaint1
      @pmaint1 12 дней назад

      So there has to be a drain hole somewhere or it would overflow.

    Would this fit in a window smaller than 22"? My biggest window is about 19.75" wide and see the actual unit is about 19". Possible to set this up in that size window if we make our own shelf/mounting hardware to support the unit?

    • @elitehandyman911
      @elitehandyman911  28 дней назад

      For width you could definitely make it work. Even the bracket could be easily modified.
      You would have to remove the insulation brackets and do some custom insulation work.
      The height requirement is a hard 13 inches though to be able to get through the window.
      Please let us know if you go for it. And if you're in the Boston area we're able to help with the installation.

    • @elitehandyman911
      @elitehandyman911  16 дней назад +1

      @@elitehandyman911 Thank you for responding! unfortunately, there is nothing under the mount arms as it is hanging from my window. Will update you on the install, but if the screws are not in place per the manual, do you think that this would still hold the A/C correctly?

    Just purchased one started install but it looks strange to me from the outside as far as how the unit fits in the bracket ( it does not come to the end. In other words the bracket extends about 6” beyond the actual unit. Neither the manual
    Nor any install video I’ve watched thus far shows an image from the outside. I’d like to know what the installed unit is supposed to
    Look like from the outside.

    • @elitehandyman911
      @elitehandyman911  24 дня назад +1

      Yes, That is normal.
      The bracket arms extend farther than the A/C to allow for the legs to adjust for different wall thicknesses.

      Meaning the electronic control has detected the unit is reading one of the temperatures incorrectly. EC 07 error message is not considered a user repairable error. The good news is that most units can tolerate an EC 07 error and still continue to cool.

    I just got one of these, but foolishly realized that since I have a double window, I have no way of screwing the bracket to both sides of the window frame. I am hoping there is a way to solve this problem.

    • @elitehandyman911
      @elitehandyman911  18 дней назад +2

      You can offset the bracket and a/c to one side securing as normal. For the other side use the longest leg and screw it vertically into the sill. This is why there are holes in the bottom of the legs too. You will be missing the internal window lock bar, but the screws will keep it safe. For the insulation you can get hard insulation at any home store or get midea replacement here * - amzn.to/4bBkZ40 and glue two together together. We use just a few dabs of super glue.
      If you're in Greater Boston let us know and we'll be happy to help.
