Ah man, thank you! What a blast from the past video! I gotta say, the 8880 car @ 6:41 deserved like 7 stars to me way back then (or bricks, Lol). For its day it was such a big advance compared to its predecessors (like 8865 @ 3:15) with its all wheel drive, four wheel steering, cool tires, a sweet smooth shifting transmission and very decent body lines back then ... *and used just regular brick pieces to create those body lines. I literally wore out that car’s pieces playing with it so much by rebuilding and modifying it too many times to count. 👍‼️
Loved the video. Brought back memories. Always wanted the one at 6:41 as a kid, but got to make up for it with 19:36 Still have 7:31, and 7:55. Its feels so weird how early on these sets looked so simple, and then got into so much more detail in the 2000's. One thing i loved being a Lego Club member is seeing all the cool things people can make outside of the normal sets, and preview the upcoming sets I would never get as a kid. Haven't gotten into the Technic for the newer ones, but some of the Creator sets make up for it. Reminds me of the Model Team series.
Very nice walk down memory lane here. My 1st set was 8044 in 1989 and I just just finished building the Bugatti 42083 yesterday. One of my childhood faves was the Tow Truck 8462. I played with that thing so much the pump failed. Wasn't until 15 years later that I was able to replace that pump thru Brick Link and get it running again. It's fully assembled again running routes with my son and daughter who now have picked up the passion for Legos just like Dad.
WoW, cool! Welcome back form you "Dark Ages". Nice you rediscovered Lego and thanks for sharing your childhood memories. Always nice to read :-). Same for me here with my two boys from 7 and 5 who also have dad's passion for Lego Bricks
Awesome video. You did a great job. I am 49 years old, and love messing with technic legos. I like to build things. Thank you for your time well spent.
So many fond memories (8080 and 5540). I used technics to create transforming toys when I was 10, some are considered illegal method today: hinge structures from sandwiching parts on each end of a 1x3 plate to use it as a hinge with 180 degree swing. For the hinge by connecting holed pieces with 1x2 click-in pins, I used to chew them a bit flat to create more friction so it stays at its place after flipping open. Most of the transforming ones are small. It brings the creativity out of a child.
It's not that great. I do have it, it's not bad and fun to play, but the only really special thing is that it's remote controlled. The 1990s flagship sets had much more interesting techniques, and certainly way more challenging to build. Although that latter part is also due to the oversimplified instructions that became common.
Wow, amazing to see all these pictures/boxes back, especially the ones from the eighties. I must have spent hours gazing at them in toystores and folders, cause it feels like I played with all of them hahaha, although I owned maybe 10 or so in total. Special memories to the '86 snow set. Owned them all (I now realize, thank you mom and dad!), and must have build them a thousand times. Thanks for the video!

In technic too. The golden age was the 90s. Though in technic the very early 2000s is still good. Just sad how Lego technic these days is more just a dozend sets, 2-3 of which are big sets, that are just big for big's sake and just sit there as expensive sets for years.... Sets are still good, dont get me wrong. Just... theres cery little focus. Technic these days feels more like an afterthought then one of the major centers of Lego.
Thank you for creating this historical overview. I collect old Technics and study how they worked. Your coolness ratings favor larger builds and ignore smaller sets that may introductions to unique parts like the speed computer that is to say sets with over 300 parts are more likely to get 3 bricks and sets with over 400 parts are more likely to get 4 bricks and so on....not that I disagree...most of my Technic sets are the larger ones with clutche/transmission, pneumatic switches, and motorized optons.(42095)...however, I specialized in collecting unique Lego parts...like optical fibers, robotics, trains, dacta....so Technic sets are only a subset of my interest.... I am still skeptical about how successful the bluetooth tech sets will be.....

Those pneumatic kits were the bomb. I have 5 of them.
No the Land Rover is very sick it has a lego engine
Jorn. And???
The claw rig has a engine too
Lego Techic has evolved so much that is no way just for the age group 9-16. It is more like 8-80.
Let's play with Legos your entire life ;-P
I had that Dune Buggy (8845/8841), the tow truck (8846) and that Universal set (8090/8040)
I had the dune buggy too. Great set!
3:10 my childhood technic set, must also build it a thousand times !
That is grandpa of Lego tecnic fire plane
Do you reckon some of these sets could come back. Nowadays it's modern boredom some of them
Some sets are, but most new bigger sets are great in my opinion but i also like classic sets
with those air powered stuff and those hand powered air pumps someone could make a new type of engine where the hand pump is the cam shaft area and the piston gets powered by the camshaft where a knob hit it
I've 8280! I am 30 but found it in my grandmothers attic. Even managed to build the who set! I've last built it at least 23 years ago
Cool. Bring back the childhood memories. Have a lot of building fun :-)
영상 잘봤습니다. 아이디어랑 크리에이터 제품들도 진화 보고 싶습니다 ! 구독하고 갑니다 ㅎ
8868 I absolutely loved that thing when I was a kid. 8872 too lol.
You left out some models, like the 42084 Hook Loader.
cool video
I still have set 853, needs a few bits to make it complete again.
You can find missing bricks at bricklink.com
@@StartBricking Cool, cheers :)
I love lego technic. That's most important thing of my life!
Are you going for the Liebherr this year?
@@StartBricking not cheap but YES. I have White Mercedes that was my first bigger lego technic. I have excavator I think from 2016. Build it for 14 hours. I have Blue truck from 2017.
And many next smaller sets like blue crane, forest machine, blue dragster, and many other small. But I'm only 12. Everyone say me: LEGOMASTER.
@@adik4208 Impressive collection you have for a twelve year old. I have the Unimog, the crawler, white Merc truck, the orange Porsche and the Claas Tractor. It's so cool to build with Technic. Next step is to create a MOC.Best regards from the Netherlands
@@StartBricking I'm not PS4 CHILD. Parents don't want to buy I don't want to get. So I have lego. PS: What is the regards from netherlands? Some set from lego Minecraft?
@@adik4208 Regards from the Netherlands means Greetings from the Netherlands. This is a country in Europe. Were are you from? Great parents do you have. My children are also Lego Boys and not PS4 boys :-P
Woah! I have the 2018 fire rescue
25:58 this is my lego technic
Cool set!
42099 was my favorite
Awesome! Getting the 2019 Car Transporter for Christmas! ($180 USD)
Awesome gift for Christmas!
Got 8860 sitting in my loft....im off to dig it out!
Cool!
Wasn’t the slyzers, robo-riders, and the bionicle sets from 2001-2003 a part of technic?
I have 0.29 Bulldozer and have just recently remade it for my kids. Its got to be worth more than a 3! Good times.
First gets easier to build than gets a little harder and more time to build and wayy hard and hours or days to build
Who has also recogniced, that the prices of the people stays at the same level but there are less people
Time machine Thx I started building mid 80's.
Nice video
Thanks!!!!!!
Hai. Which model did u sell?
Thanks for your reaction. Cool that you collect special Lego parts! I'm also skeptical about the bluetooth.... Best regards from The Netherlands
6:56 It's my first LEGO Technic
Wow, always nice to see your first isn't it? Do you have a big collection now?
@@StartBricking I collected a few more after that product, but now it's my nephew's
@@yexyex1250 You have a very Lucky nephew ;-P
anyone else sit here for half an hour saying "got it, got it, got it, got it, want it, got it, got it, got it, got it, want it, got it, got it, got it, got it, want it, want it, got it, got it, got it, got it, want it, want it, got it, got it, got it, got it, want it, want it, got it, got it, got it, got it..."?
Thanks
You're welcome!
I had the 1994 helicopter, the 1995 circuit shock racer and the 1997 blast-off dragster. sadly I lost a lop of pieces
They should bring back the Technics Guys. I remember having the Dune Buggy and a few other earlier sets.
Totally agree!
1998 just wasn't the year for Start BRICKing
LoL
Wow the new sets are amazing
Mihai Ungureanu yes they do💪
U put the front end loader twice model 8439 is the same as 8459 it was a re-release the perfect lego technic front end loader
13:26 did they really cost 170 dollar for the silver champion? that's a lot in 2000
that's nearly 300 dollars in 2024
I wish technic would do more tracked, vehicles
You could really get technical with suspension
