- The ALL NEW Z is here and Nissan is bringing huge changes.to their iconic sports car. On the outside you will see the overall design did not deviate much for the Z Proto. There is full LED lighting, 19in Rays Forged wheels, kick up rear spoiler and performance exhaust. On the inside you will be greeted to leather/suede, 9in infotainment system, 12.3in digital gauge cluster, and triple pod auxiliary gauges. Under the hood is a 3.0L V6 that is pumping out 400HP & is mated to a 6-speed manual or new 9-speed automatic transmission. Is the ALL NEW 2023 Nissan Z a BETTER sports car than the Toyota Supra?

That's EXACTLY what I've been thinking. I can't decide if I like the rear end or side profile more. Probably the rear end, it just looks so good. Reminds me of a retro futuristic car. Kind of like the rear end of that car from the cyberpunk ads almost. Looks fantastic.

I honestly think Nissan did a perfect job because it shows how much time and thought they put into the design and the fact that they took the people's wishes and concerns into accounts so they could give us a beautiful car.
All of the details really add up to the big picture.

Nissan killed it with their design. I absolutely love the back end of this thing. Those tail lights are a perfect throwback to the Z32 years. Reminds me of playing Gran Turismo 3 on the playstation 2 haha!

Seeing a few of the Supra’s out on the streets and they are growing on me but this Z is an absolute home run for Nissan. Love how they understood the Z heritage and brought back so many looks from the Z’s past. Beautiful car and I think this design will end up timeless amd really appreciated for a long time.

@@GoBrand0n not sure if you remember. back in 03 Infiniti was at the brink of extinction, and then the G35 came out. Everything turned around for Nissan/infiniti then. I’m sure they can do it again, because of cars like the Z you see here. This is definitely going to be a hot seller for them.

I honestly didn't think that the aftermarket couldn't possibly improve on the Hellcat-powered Dodges,but by the gods,they did it. Someone actually installed the legendary 2JZ engine into the current generation Supra.
This is truly the Golden Age of Tuning.

With the direction the automotive industry is heading, this car is bound to be a future classic. The no frills back to basics design is a breath of fresh air and will definitely age very well.
Its an outdated z with some bland restomod body kit that dealers will probably mark up beyond price point. Garbage Nissan should be ashamed.

Agree, after 1973 ( I owned & modified my '73 building out and dropping in a 280 block 20 some yrs ago, lol) Z's were just awful looking. So glad Nissan resurrected the original style as close as possible with state of the art upgrades. As a Corvette owner, I may just take a serious look into this.

Fuck no. The Supra is way sexier and will still probably be faster. Plus, it’s super easy to make more power for not a lot of money in the mk5.

Nissan v6 is fairly good. Then Scotty would say turbos ruin the reliability. Good thing this doesn't have cvt, something Nissan should either get rid off or actually improve upon. It's ruining their brand.

I wouldn’t, I had a q50 red sport and it sucked! Too much turbo leg and handling was terrible. This is on a same exact Platform! Go with Bmw engine with Supra, it’s way better!!

@@OhgodImtoosexy You DO realize that the VR30DETT had quite a lot of reliability issues at the beginning right? The GR Supra has been faultless ever since it came out and people have been abusing their cars too.
You needed to compare the B58 to the VR38 to prove your point and all you use is just hyperbole. You don't know if the Z is lighter, the VR engine is nowhere near as advanced as the B58, and it sure as hell is not more reliable.
The only point that makes sense is the fact that it's a stick.
The GR Supra will objectively wipe the floor with this thing and I love that this thing exists because it pushes Toyota to do better.
I love the blue, seems like it would change color in different lighting. Also like the silver strip along the roofline, it's a touch of class. This car should be a big seller for Nissan.

I mean I love the 300zx z32, have owned a few myself. This car nailed it for sure. Nissan is back! This Blue on Blue spec really reminds me of my TH1 Blue Z32, with a blue interior.
I also love how they didnt call it the "400z" that really would've ruined things imo.

@@papa_pt As of today mate their has been no official price release listing for the new Z car. And if the manual gearbox is anything like what was in the old 370Z, nothing to write home about, or special.
@@Mexxx65 no. Because of #1 Manual option, #2 2-seater, #3. Chassis development, #4. Price, #5 It’s not pretending to be anything. No fake vents anywhere, and #6. It’s made almost entirely by Nissan unlike the Supra being 95% made by BMW.

Na. Buying new is fine if you don’t finance and money is not an object. New car is going to depreciate fast. Wait a year or two to see the reliability and buy a discount low mileage one.

I love a manual on a classic lightweight sports car where the transmission more than makes up for less horsepower....but with 400hp? And a dual clutch 9speed tranny? i am happy to let tech do my shifting....But if this car really weighs 3500llbs? You can keep it with whatever transmission
Now we just need to have Mitsubishi come back out with the 3000GT VR4 and Mazda to release a RX and all the boys will be back.

It would be a miracle if Mitsubishi survives. Mitsubishi cars introduced for the last ten years are already outdated looking by the time they first come out.
Nobody at the Mitsubishi display at the LA auto shows ever since they got rid of the Lancer Evo.
Much more hope for Mazda. The car they're planning to replace the Mazda 6 with looks fantastic.
As he mentioned the Supra is actually a BMW being made in the same factory in Austria. This is a Z and will probably sell much better if you have a choice between the two.

Joe, you do such a great job explaining the cars. I started watching the Nissan Z intro and it just didn’t give the information fast enough. They had a ton of fluff. I switched to your channel and got all of the information I needed. Nissan should just post your videos for their launch.
The live debut was so flat and uneventful, I'd rather see a track day debut than a showroom floor fluff session. This car is dope, definitely considering it next year.
The side shape looks like the old 240z - that´s awesome. And 400hp with a nice V6 biturbo sounds also great. And of course a 6-speed manual available! NICE !

It helps when they had the infiniti line to pull the drive train. Toyota didn't have a preformance motor in production to pull from. Would have been a 100k+ car if they R&D'd the vehicle.

I'm really digging the Z. Nissan really nailed the design. I would take it over a Supra.
@hon solo I never said anything bad about th Supra, nor am I knocking it in any way. I think the Z offers more of what people want in terms of the whole package especially since you can get it with a manual.

Love the styling cues that pay tribute to the early Z's. Beautiful car.
I don't think people realize just how hard it is to talk for so long without the use of cue cards or a teleprompter, and without being repetitive or pausing with uh's and um's.

This is absolutely perfect execution. I really wanted a Supra. Don’t get me wrong, the Supra has a great design, but the heart of it is not there. The Z stayed true to its roots and that twin turbo reminds of the 300ZX. LOVE IT!
Drive both, drive a Q60 or wait until the Z comes out and test drive that. Try and ride in a lightly modded and tuned Supra and then make your mind up. A lot of my friends have jumped from the Q60 to the Supra because the VR30 TT is a very unreliable engine and doesn’t take power mods well.
The B58 is a better engine all day everyday.
Nissan is the Dodge of Japan.
@@nickchaconas At last a true car enthusiast in the know!!!! yes big question marks over the use of this quite old Nissan/Renault designed Turbo V6 being currently used in the Infiniti Q60. And using the existing 370Z floor plan, can't see it being ground braking in the handling department. The Toyota GR Supra, was a totally new fresh design for Toyota/BMW, and most importantly it delivered the goods!

There will be a boatload of used Toyota Supra's available next spring when this Z goes on sale. The clean body lines and raw performance from the twin-turbo engine mated to the 6-spd manual transmission makes this car much more desirable. Thank you Team Raiti for the much better in-depth reveal.

The best Z model was from 1990 to 1996. It was a timeless beauty, I think if they were to bring it back people may actually think it's a really brand new design. Those T-tops were awesome as well.
T-Tops were super cool but they were a flawed design. Almost all of them started to leak at some point. Try finding a 300zx that won't leak through a car wash lol. I wouldn't mind a targa top on this car though.

Dear Joe and Lori, I've never smiled so much while watching an auto review! This is absolutely one of my favorite cars ever, got a bit of heart palpitations there when I saw this.
Like you said the overall design is great. The grill is so clean with the right amount of aggressiveness, I lovee that its just rectangles in a rectangle at both ends, doesn't have 20 zigzags going in all directions or some weird shape as a whole (Eg catfish). No unnecessary styling accents and body curves. Everything is just perfect! Love the katana element, the two tone colour scheme and this blue is so right but that yellow one was screaming my name too, wish you had shown us a closeup of that colour too (Did it have a yellow interior?). The twin turbo roar and all that storage!
This Z is somehow sexy, cute and a beast all at the same time. If I could afford a $40,000 daily ride, this would be it, in manual of course. RIP Supra!

P.S. I just watched Doug's Tesla Plaid video before this and have never seen Doug so excited over any car, and that was literally like me watching this Nissan Z review. I think we could all also feel how hyped Joe was here, more than he could express in this video hehe.

Yup, at the end of the day it’s a 2 seater, not designed for interior storage, one cupholder should be enough for the driver

The new transmissions are quicker than a Manuel but more expensive than a cheap manual... obviously they want to sell you a manual so they can rip you off more.
@@stevenbingham7874 a clutch is a lot cheaper to replace than a whole tranny, plus they can be upgraded easily. I don’t think it’s a rip off, manuals are 1000x more fun and engaging to drive. In my opinion, because they require your attention and make you put down the phone/drink/hamburger, they’re safer too.

That is an understatement.
The supra would have priced itself out of relevance if they had built it from the ground up. Toyota had been out of the preformance game far too long.

Nissans on the brink of death and still managing to make their own stuff even the GT86 is 50% subaru while the mx5 is 100% Mazda

400 hp sounds an absolute perfect amount!
Truly expected to be disappointed by a 300hp (non redsport VR30DDTT) output.. But hearing that 400 was a massive surprise.
Considering how that engine is in the Q60 Redsport I imagine this will be an absolute Blast given it’s lighter - and it was no slouch in the Redsport!
As an owner of an 18 Mustang GT I have to say Nissan really hit a home run with this new Z and if they can keep the price below the Supra's I'm sure I'll see a new Z at every stoplight!

I like how the car companies now bringing up their classic design again, like the new lambo countach and the Z.
Lambo Countach is a lame, overpriced Aventador with bodykit. For that price, one would expect a different, better, plusher interior.
Not really this looks closer to 350z than 300z besides the back lights.
Love the side profile, love the back, it all looks so retro, but man the front just seems lacking to me. anyone else feel like the front looks unfinished almost?

Looks bland. I don’t like it. The 370z looks sharper. The mk5 looks more modern than this.
I feel the same way, i think that the front end is the last thing to complete the car. Other than that the car is phenomenal. Also pretty sure there is will be a nice after market front bumper.
Great looking design. Looks like a home run to me. Let’s see how it performs and it needs a T Top option.
I currently own a '21 3.0 premium Supra and I think I'll trade my car for the new Z, mainly for the manual transmission but also the looks of the car. Good job Nissan.

If Nissan can keep their consistency up to its price range i'm pretty sure everyone will choose the Z over the Mk5 supra.
Not only that but it might even be a huge competitor to the GT86

@@Idk910 If the price he says, $38000, is correct then it would become an obvious alternative for some over the GT86's $30000 price tag. 8000 dollars isn't that much for twice the power and some would even save the money and hassle of getting a turbo installed.
@@DantesGrill Actually confirmed its 40k still a lot of money but not as much as the MK5 Supra which cost 50k and that 40k is before option even with highest trim the ST cost the same as that MK5 Supra and MK5 Supra doesn't have any option

Whoever was in charge of design needs a raise. While the front grille is still growing on me, I absolutely love that there are ZERO fake vents slapped all over this. Great job Nissan! Body lines are sleek and sexy, and the retro rear end is on point. I thought I might be past the sports car stage in my life, but damn, this is making it hard to resist!!
I'm Japanese and we take pride in all aspects of our culture.. Especially our vehicles!.. The Supra is a German BMW.. Not Japanese..
