- The Z NISMO brings extra performance from Nissan for 2024. On the outside you will see better aero, RAYS forged wheels and big brake package. On the inside there are Recaros, 12.3in digital gauge cluster and 9in infotainment screen. Under the hood is a 3.0L twin-turbo V6 that is mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission. Is the 2024 Nissan Z NISMO a BETTER sports car than a BMW M2?

The back of that car is so reminiscent of the 90s Nissan 300zx. Looks great.
For you youngsters we used to see Z cars all over the place in the 70's. I haven't seen one on the highway in years. They were a bargain priced sports car back then. Much nicer car now but not such a bargain. You've been busy Joe.

At that price i would rather have a slightly used m2 competition

I like the looks of the Z and it has potential…..but I can’t think of a world in which I would take it over a M2
i'll take the Z over the M2 bc it's way more reliable. imo the Z competes more w/the Mustang not M2

I just bought one today, has 12 miles on it so far the drive home from the dealer was awesome.

That was the speculated name for so long because of the fact that it was coming stock with 400hp. Even though us still just Z regardless. It’s not necessarily wrong if people still say 400z

Starting MSRP of a Nissan GTR in 2007 was 69k..........yeah. This car is not worth 70k. Buy a Supra, an Audi RS3, M2 over this thing.
It's not 2007 anymore. That was 17 years ago. Everything is more expensive
The Supra 3.0 costs just as much as does the M2... what's the point? There's no savings getting any of them so might as well buy what you like.
US$69,000 in 2007 is US$106,000 in 2024 after adjusting for inflation. It's why some of the criticism on price are out of touch with economic realities.

Great review Joe and Lori. I think this car Is worth every penny considering the engineering that when into it that you don't know about until you push it on the track or twisty back road. It is amazing. A fun factor 10 all the way. It's also gorgeous by the way.

I’d definitely go with the Nismo Z over the BMW.
Hopefully Nissan will put a manual transmission in the this like Toyota did with the Supra.
I still haven't seen a new Z in person. I see a GR86 or Supra practically every day.

Those automatic ZF transmission are shifting pretty darn quick, getting almost close to a dual clutch transmission but probably more reliable.
This could also compare really to the new GR Supra 3.0, also with a ZF transmission but 8 speed. A bit down on HP but not on torque. The Supra is even quicker then both Z's.
I would go with the Supra, but the Z would be close second. Love the Z look !

I’m saving up for “something” for around 2026. I’ve always liked a Nismo Z and this new one could take my money.
Great car i had a 1972 240Z . And I loved it, it handle pretty well. Except the ass end was light. But i enjoyed it, I'd take the Z over the beamer. It has some of the 72 Z lines.

The base model is more than enough for me. I don't see me paying extra money for some red details and badges.
The Nismo is more than red details and badges. You get the suspension, drivetrain, aero, and LSD which you don't get on the base.

How I wish they did!
Love this car so much. From the styling, to the engine sound and the way it puts its power down. This car feels like a mini GTR which is super cool. But the price tag of this thing for what you get is so unappealing. Its unfortunate that all these new interesting sports cars are priced so far to their limits that they start to become unappealing to actually purchase one.

@@RaitisRides Factoring in inflation, the price for it doesn’t bother me and that’s after narrowing down my choices to the Z Nismo, 45th anniversary Supra which is marked up to $85K in the DMV area, and an M2. I actually got mine used with 117 miles on it. Before taxes/fees mine was $64960 and $68,994.90 OTD.

I have this car and I love it!! So fun to drive!
When you actually drive it you realise how good it is. Some people will never understand this. It's the way the car drives and feels. This car will be a monster on track. Some people forget that the legendary gtr is a nissan. And this z is both timeless and futuristic. That was their goal here. And complaining how outdated some things are doesn't make any sense

The price is outrageous but I like this version better than previous Z Nismos. I also think it was designed to be a low volume seller, and the standard Z would grab higher volume sales. Anyways, I'm off my soapbox. Love the car, great review!
Hey Joe, I have been looking for a review from you of the BMW M3 or M4 base with the manual. Every single one I see on your channel is a Comp with the auto. I’m thinking about buying one instead of the new mustang but a manual is a must. If you could do a review of a M3/4 with the manual would be great. I trust you judgement

I bought the g87 for a summer saturday driver and i love every minute Im driving it. I bought it because not only will it be a special car being last all gas M car, but its also probably the last manual M. I wouldnt buy any of these cars if they arent manual.
3700lbs! I remember when the R35 GT-R came out in 2007 it was around 3700 and was considered super heavy.
To me its about the loyalty to the brand...I've owned a lot of Nissans. currently have a 2020 370z Nismo and a 2017 maxima SR love them both and the wife drives a Murano. I'm going Nismo when the manual comes out next year...

The vanilla Z should have that front fascia. Even without such a big splitter it would look so good. Plus a real shame about the transmission

Actually a really good review. I can agree with every one of the “zonks” I really like the car. Maybe one day. And if it does. Hopefully the “zonks” will be resolved.
One point I didn't hear was availability. My parking garage has 3 M2's in it daily and I see them alot in nice neighborhoods.
I've never ever once seen ANY Z on the road here, let alone NISMO. Saying 66k is pointless, they'll all be 80-90k IF you can find one within 300mi.
So sad to see the manuals disappearing. Is the 9 speed a torque converter automatic, or a DCT? Maybe Flomaster will design an aftermarket exhaust system for the NISMO?

2024 Nissan 400Z NISMO 3.0L Twin-Turbocharged V6 9-Speed ZF Automatic RWD Coupe!
I'd wait 5-7 years for these to be on the used market before picking one up. They aren't worth 60k. 30k sure. Also the M2 comes with a manual where as this doesn't. Which doesn't make sense since the Nismo 350z and Nismo 370z V1 were both ONLY offered in a manual transmission.
I checking pricing on some vehicles today with the wife. And the pricing for all vehicles are outrageous. And not obtainable. For more than 90% of people. Many can’t afford to pay 1,500 car payment.
Joe, I think I would go with the Nissan Z Nismo.
When I worked at nissan a mechanic there told me these are pieces of junk. Not sure what he meant but he said it lol

I purchased a Nismo z, same spec as the one in this video. In saying that the M2 is another $30,000 AUD here in Australia. If they were the same price, I'd order the M2 Hands down just for the S58
Did you check out the new Supra because I think they have the S58? I think the Z looks 1000 times better but Supra goes slightly better and has a manual
How's the ride? Is it very stiff / uncomfortable? I went for a test drive but couldn't decide on its usability day to day.
@thefury4424 Supra has a B58...but hundreds of pounds less in weight. Both beat the Z when a competent driver is behind the wheel.

Disappointed in no manual option, but the performance and handling almost makes up for it. I think for me the nismo edges out the BMW, especially from a total cost of ownership perspective. Thanks again Joe and Lori

They totally reinvented the Nissan Z
M2 is disturbingly heavy and looks a little funky, but I'm still going with that option. Kinda disappointed with the new Z after all the hype.
why it doesn't has MT tran?
M2 more reliable, magnetic ride, leather interior, power seats, upgraded tech (although the giant display is ugly), but it kills the Nismo!
