  • The ALL NEW Z is finally here and Nissan is bringing back the magic for 2023. The main competitor is the Toyota Supra but there are some others that may seem not the same. Cars like the Ford Mustang & Chevrolet Camaro. On the outside you will find the familiar shape of the Z car from the past. The performance spec has 19in wheels, red calipers, and full LED lighting. On the inside there is an all new infotainment system, 12.3in digital gauge cluster, and new seats. Powering the new Z is a 3.0L twin-turbo V6 that produces 400HP & is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox or 9-speed automatic transmission. Is the 2023 Nissan Z a BETTER performance car than a Chevy Camaro SS?

The new Z, Civic Si, Civic Type R, Acura Integra, BMW M240i (and maybe a new M2 for next year), Audi S3, and more. All these cool new cars arriving within several months of each other. As a former '78 28Z owner, I like what they did here. The overall shape is retro to the original while meeting modern interior room expectations (original Z was Miata sized) and crash safety standards. I admit to not liking the rectangular grille opening the first time I saw it, but its grown on me since. My favorite styling elements are the 90's twin turbo Z style tailights and the Katana blades along the roofline. I like it when Japanse makers arent afraid to embrace their Japanese-ness. Nobody wants a Japanese car trying to mimick American or European cars, and I think they did a great job staying true to the heritage.
Edit- I cant begin to tell you how refreshing it is to see a brand new low slung sports car (that isnt a supercar costing McMansion money) in a vast sea of crossovers and glorified electric golf carts. This is good for the true car guy soul.😎

I had a 350Z in silverstone with a burnt orange interior for several years. What an amazing car. Always got a lot of attention. Where I live people thought to was an exotic. Only issue, living in NY, was snow. With summer tires, I always had to be on top of the weather. Any snow at all would mean staying at home that day. Now I have a BMW M240i x-drive, so I can enjoy zipping around all those giant truck-like SUV's getting stuck in the snow without even thinking about it. I think the test spec is pretty close to what I would choose. Only things I don't 100 percent love on the new car are front grill (not bad but a little big for my taste, might look better in person) and the fact that you cant get a true DCT option. The available manual, I think, makes this much more attractive than the Supra. The styling is much more refined (IMO), and if you are looking at a Supra, you can get a new M240i which has similar underpinnings but is more practical and has AWD. Camaro SS is a great car too. I've rented them and the v8 is a lot of fun. It's just a little too big and hard to see out for my personal taste. I prefer a tighter, smaller sports car in general. This new Z would be on my short list in it's price range for sure. Only question would be whether to go up a bit and get a lower option Corvette, but then if I did that, I would then want to go all out and get a Z06! For the price and performance in this segment, I don't see anything touching it. Great review! Oh, and yes, also great camera work!

I'd pick this over my Camaro SS. Can't feel the road in my SS like I could in my 370.

@@itsathejoey the Nissan is definitely more agile in turns and more road feel. I love a good sounding V8 though and although the camaro feels heavier and it is I prefer it. I had a 350z for awhile never drove the 370 but sure it had some improvements for sure! 🙂

Great performance car for people under 6’ ft tall larger people really need to go for something a little larger. Great video, I was thinking the same about the possibility of a vent on the front of the business for brake venting.
Definitely marking my calendar for the May.. On Throttle!!!👍🏽

They need to offer an AWD version of this car. In stock form RWD is fine. However, once modified it is going to really need AWD to put the torque down.

Kudos to Nissan for bringing the Z back, with a stick
Try not to compare it to cars like the Camaro, which offers a 455 HP V8 for $35k (LT1)
This car should be smaller and lighter, so the performance won't suffer much

that engine bay looks like a nightmare to work on lol stoked for this car though. Its gonna come down to the new Type R or this for me. I really wanted the 4cyl Supra but extremely difficult to get it over here for some reason.

      Two different cars really
I own a 2021 FK8 and will be buying a Z if the price is around 45 to 50k with ADM included - they will be making way more of these than the Rs.
The R is a razor sharp scapel that loves grip driving.
The Z is more of a relaxed GT sports car - its fun but not as serious as the R
My Z will be more of a high speed street cruiser build - lowered, work 5 spoke Meister wheels and 305s if I can fit them lol. 600whp on pump ethanol goal
My R is a daily with lots of high speed runs/sweepers/hairpins daily - really pushed hard on a daily basis. Most folks dont have access to roads like I use daily.
The Z for me is more of a powerful cruiser - wont really be pushing it to 10/10ths on the street but will access that power it has.
So I would say if your only going to pick one - consider your driving habbits - if you like to push cars to the edge....youll LOVE the R
If your more relaxed and want effortless top end highway speed, smooth ride and like to cruise....Z
I need both lol Both so good at what they do

@@TheFK8Life I appreciate your opinion! I’m well aware of the difference in both vehicles🙂 your opinion on which one to buy for what may not be aligned with my objectives for either of them. But I like your approach to beating on one and cruising with the other. I’d probably just enjoy it stock and wait for parts to be developed. I really like the FK8, solid that you own one. Can’t wait for the new CTR to be unveiled 🤤🤤

Whoah! Careful on that Supra. Mixed parts between BMW and Toyota. Many complaints already about being extremely difficult to get correct parts let alone installing. Modifying has been and will continue to be a very expensive nightmare.
