    My cat made a mess outside his litter box and I was wondering if any of my robots were capable of cleaning the very edge of my oval cat litter box. The results were....surprising.
    Robots tested: Ecovacs T8 AIVI, Roborock S6 MAXV, Neabot NoMo, iRobot Roomba i7, 360 S5, Tesvor S6 and Neato D3 (sort of).

    Kinda shocked how expensive these things are. And none of them really did a superb job.

      This is one specific circumstance. They are not the best at getting close to things. But they are actually quite inexpensive for what they do. Think of them as an appliance, not a gadget. What they do overall is quite remarkable.

    I bought my robot vacuum for almost exactly this purpose, to pick up stray litter and cat food scattered by my two cats. 🐈‍⬛🐈 I got the Roborock E4 and have found it works well for me. I also tried a Tesvor M1 with more suction and good price, but it didn’t work well in my small cluttered house; kept getting hung up on small things and faulting out. (The Roborock never gets hung up; I can start it and forget it.) The Tesvor M1 works great in my parents’ house which is larger and more open, and in fact I’d bought it for them.
    I’ve found that in a situation like what you show, with any robot vacuum, Spot Cleaning works best, where it goes back over the same area several times. I’ll usually do a Spot Cleaning in a heavily affected area, followed by a full cleaning cycle.
    I’m limited in how often I can run it, because my senior cat is scared off by it. 🐈‍⬛ He hates vacuums in general, not just robots. I usually wait until he’s downstairs to use the litter box, so I can run it on the main floor without disturbing him too much. My other cat doesn’t care for it either but she 🐈 just stares at it from a distance. So I can’t run it every day as I’d hoped, but at least once or twice a week.

      Unfortunately not all robot vacs have a spot mode.

    • @peacefrog0521

      @@MrRoombato For as much as those cost they ought to. Might be that it’s a feature buried a few menu levels deep in the app. The Tesvor was like that; not shown on the main page, nor on the remote. The Roborock was also like that, where it was in the app’s “Remote Control”. But on that you can activate it by pressing and holding the Home button on the unit itself.
      Just looked up the 360 S5. No Spot Cleaning function. 😕

    How do you like the 360 s5? I noticed its only $199 at amazon right now.

    • @MrRoombato
      @MrRoombato  3 года назад +3

      It’s great. Very basic (no mopping, no fancy sensors) but very reliable and has a fantastic app. For 199 it’s an insane deal. It’s one of the few robots on the market that can save and name multiple custom clean zones.

    Do you have a recommendation on a budget friendly robot? I don't care if it can't go that close, I just want one to clean up after the cats near their litter box.

    Hey @Mr. Roombato... odd but I have a cat that has asthma that is exacerbated by my Roomba 675 pushing dust up into the air. Of all the robot vacuums that you've reviewed, which one(s) would you say push the least amount of dust into the air and/or make the least amount of noise?

    • @MrRoombato
      @MrRoombato  3 года назад +1

      That is, unfortunately, a question I can't answer. Dust filtration efficiency is something that you have to test with the right equipment. Vacuum Wars has the equipment, but I don't know if he's done any such tests with robot vacs. As for noise, most of the lidar robots with hybrid brushes are pretty quiet, and they all have quiet modes that are really quiet at the expense of suction power.
      The iLife A10 has a very interesting filter design that uses a cyclonic dust bin that keeps most dust out of the filter, but unless they've fixed its navigation algorithm it's not a very good cleaner, it makes turns that are way too wide.
      The Narwal T10 also has a similar design design, but it has no main brush in vacuum mode.
      I'm sorry I couldn't help more.

    Just curious, why did you say that the 360 s5 was one of your favorite robots?... I ordered the 360 s5. It should be here sometime today. But I might be returning it because the Tesvor s6+ is the same price right now...Great video btw!

    • @MrRoombato
      @MrRoombato  3 года назад +3

      No no no! Do not get the Tesvor!! Their robots are very good, but their app is hot garbage. No room select! You can only control it with keep out zones and lines. It looks like someone started to code it and then gave up after it kinda sorta started working.
      I love the 360 S5 because it's extremely affordable, yet, aside from mopping, as all of the functionality of the best robots on the market, except for AI/object detection. It even has a side mounted time of flight sensor for hugging walls, like the Neabot. But most importantly, it's app is fantastic, one of the best in the industry. It's not completely bug free (none of them are), but it's fairly close, and it has saveable clean zones (so you can define, name and save multiple custom zones, like front door mat, base of kitchen counters, etc.).

    • @MrRoombato
      @MrRoombato  3 года назад

      @@MorbidReigns That’s odd. Mine doesn’t do that. I recommended one to two friends and neither does it. Something has to be making that sound, something you can find and remove. If not, maybe get it replaced. It shouldn’t do that.
