I love that Christopher Ruocchio does summary videos for all his books...I think this is very important for series that aren't finished or for readers like you that spaces out series over other books!
Yeah I love his summary videos!
Yes! I've watched those multiple times!!! agreed
Glad you decided to keep going to robert jackson bennett, i knew this one would likely work much better than the other series.
Great review! Glad you liked it!!
Glad you enjoyed it. I 100% agree that it’s very Sandersonian (is that a word?). One of the few things I recommend people as a 1 to 1 “if you like Sanderson you will like this”.
Yeah and he really pulled it off well!
Agreed!! Such a pet peeve of mine when there is no summary!!!
Thanks Matt! This book sounds right up my alley.
Niceeeee I’m pumped to try this one too
As always love the video. Gotta tell you you r 1 of my favs that have inspired me to start my own channel. Keep the great work coming.

Nice! I would be interested in your thoughts on book 2 if you continue. I really liked book 1. Book 2 is a soft dnf at 50% but I want to continue. But I don’t. 😵💫
I remember thinking the first one was good. The second one is questionable. And the third one almost drove me insane. I look forward to your opinion.
Uh oh!
The second is heavier on the suspense and intrigue, with less action. But I like it better.
I'm almost finished this and at the start I did not like it. But as it ramped up, I started to really enjoy it.
Great review! I laughed out loud when you told the author don't try new stuff.
lol thank you!
Do you ever dnf a book that your patrons choose for you?
Nope! I always finish those.
Good 👍 video 🎥
Yayyy Key🎉
I loved this one and the second in the series. The third lost me, sadly.
I found the characters weaker than you did. Several of the side characters had similar voices as you said, but I found several characters doing things that felt out of character for them, and not in a way that made them feel complex, but rather just plot convenient. I also found the love/romance subplot to be extremely spontaneous, not in that it happened at all, but in the degree of emotions between two people who were otherwise quite standoffish. I could perhaps justify it for one of the characters for plot reasons, but I just can't for the other.
The romance was so incredibly forced
Is there romance?
Not in this one!
This was a dnf for me .. characters were very flat and i didn't care at all about them
4 out of 5!? And Hyperion got a 3?? Blasphemy.
What can I say? I have weird tastes!
