I love listening to video game soundtracks while reading, I ended up listening to the Dishonored soundtracks while reading Foundryside because I thought they both have the same mood ^_^
Random thought, but I kept thinking the magic system would be perfect for an adventure/RPG video game; having conversations with objects through dialogue trees or something similar. Definitely checking this out sometime

Sounds cool. How intense would you rate the scary/gore level on like a 1-10 scale? I’m a bit of a wimp hahaha
PumpkinMozie oh v low. Not scary at all. The scenes of gore we do get are a bit intense but I think there’s only 3? And you could skim read them quickly.

I read City of Stairs from the same author and gave it 3 stars. I wasn't interested in reading more of his books, however, this Foundryside sounds interesting. I might give it a try.

I thought this was soooo well done! The only thing I would say is that the nature of the magic system leaves the story vulnerable to an ending that is wrapped up a little too neatly. I hope he resists that urge in the coming books. Overall, though, I agree! *Chef's Kiss*

Am I the only one who thinks this magic system sounds awfully similar to the one in The Emperor's Soul by Brandon Sanderson?
It tickled at me too! I haven't read the emperor's soul yet, but I vividly flashed to parts of The Stormlight Archives where Shallan is coaxing a stick to become fire, and the stick stubbornly insists no, "I am a stick." LOL
