Restore Me was fine but Defy Me was a bit of a mess, I kind of wish she'd left it at the original trilogy. There's a lot of retconning and "no this is how it was all along!" which just doesn't really make sense. I'll be interested to hear your thoughts on it! I want to continue the Stormlight Archives, I've read The Way of Kings but need to continue on with Words of Radiance. Oooh Descender! I've only read the first one, need to continue it! I really want to start The Expanse series as well.

When it come to catching up I don't have that many. I need to catch up on the Shadowhunters books (I know it's not just one series but since they are all related I count them as one), need to read the second book on the Truly Devious trilogy before the 3rd one comes out, I guess I need to read Crooked Kingdom to catch up? Since there is going to be a 3rd book. The Wayward Children series too (only read the 1st one yet), the Servamp manga and the ACOTAR series too since, I guess, the new trilogy counts in the same series and I've only read the 1st book.
I would really like to finish the original Mistborn trilogy this year. I’ve only read The Final Empire and barely started The Well of Ascension 😬 I would also like to finish the Falling Kingdoms series this year!

Ok, I had to smile at The Name of the Wind part very broadly. I started reading it about a year ago and realized very quickly that there was about a 0% chance it would NOT end up on my favorite-of-all-time list of books/series....so I stopped reading it because he has not finished the third book and hasn't given any real clue as to it's release.

I agree you def need to reread Shatter Me series for Restore Me, tbh I did it last year and then I was really regretting I didnt reread Restore me for Defy Me cuz there is a huge info dumb and bit difficult to process sometimes
This reminded me that I still haven't read Nevernight, and I've had that book a while. I've only got Sebastien de Castell's Spellslinger series to catch up on, but those books come out that quickly I feel I'm always chasing my tail. I just read A Closed and Common Orbit by Becky Chambers and I'm craving more of her writing but I also don't want to have no more stories to read from her. I'm in that awkward state on dying to read more from her but not wanting to finish the series.

I just learned that Christopher Moore has some ideas for future stories for Pocket the Fool in King Lear's Court. So I REALLY want to go back to Fool & Serpent of Venice. I eventually need to finish the foundation series. Before that Skydance Media adaptation for AppleTV+ drops. Just reading the 1st book ignited a few ideas about how we can algorithmically see our Ragnarok, but also how planning to mitigate the fallout can be the hardest battle.
I really need to read The Republic of Thieves as well! But another series that I want to catch up on is the Wayward Children series.. just recently listened to the audiobook for Down Among the Sticks and Bones.
I totally need to catch up on Nevernight and The Expanse as well! I've found so many new intriguing series though so the struggle to choose between catching up and starting new series is so real....
godsgrave is SO GOOD i liked it much more than nevernight!! i feel like you see mia working her ass off for some shit and it pays off big time, both in a narrative and a personal enjoyment way
Part of me hopes you read it because I’m so here for a gripe video, but everything after the original shatter me trilogy is pretty trash. Restore Me had some solid moments, but it loses any momentum it had in Defy Me. Defy Me is like a 300 page book and I had to take a break and read something else to get the bad taste out of my mouth. Obviously I don’t read the Shatter Me books critically, I’m just in it for a fun, easy read but it was just so glaringly bad. That said, maybe you’ll disagree 🤷🏻♀️

Oh gosh, the Gentleman Bastards series is gonna be 7 books (just checked on GoodReads). Now I'm doubting if I wanna go on, I DNF'ed the first book two or three times before finishing it and then gave it a relatively low 3-star rating. Just thought it wasn't that good. I keep seeing The Wicked and the Divine EVERYWHERE. I never really got into the GN scene, but I've peeked into the first book in this series and it was gorgeous. Finished Kingsbane last night and I definitely had to refer back to Furyborn a few times to better understand some character progressions in the second book...But I also have the memory capacity of a goldfish. So that's neither here nor there. I loved the last half of the book, and despite everything I'm still kinda team Corien. Also, the amount of time I spend thinking about The Wicked King is now boarding an actual problem, and I need Queen of Nothing in my life ASAP. I think you're gonna dig it.
It may have been set as a trilogy but in my opinion, the first two Shatter Me books suck and three(Ignite Me) through Restore Me and Defy Me are amazing! Can't wait to see your opinions about the sequels.

I just checked out the 6th book in the Keeper of the Lost Cities series (Nightfall) from the library earlier this week. I plan on powering my way through that this weekend and hopefully being able to finish by next week so that I can check the 7th book out (which will catch me up until the 8th comes out in the fall). I just started reading this series in late March (PeruseProject raves about it and I wanted to check it out since I enjoy middle grade fantasy). I absolutely love these books and even though they are quite thick and chunky, they are extremely fast reads. Once I am caught up on this series, I would like to continue reading The Great Library series by Rachel Caine (I read the first three books, but need to read the 4th book, and I believe the 5th book releases this year).
I’m waiting for Storm of Locusts from the Libby app. The first book (Trail of Lightning) really surprised me but I almost DNF’d it during the first chapter because the violence was a bit much for me. I’m glad I didn’t because the world and the characters are so interesting and unlike anything I’ve ever read.

I would recommend waiting on the Wicked King. The book is so good and ending was such a cliffhanger! the third book The Queen of Nothing is out in November. I literally yelled at the ending of the Wicked King. I was so upset! Lol.
I need to finish the wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan , I got to book 13 and got burned out after a year of reading lol! I have the series on my Kindle so I'll probably start that in the next week or so.

At this point I'm just disappointed in Patrick Rothfuss. I used to recommend his books and I don't anymore. Once he started joking about the 10th anniversary edition of the first book in his series I was out. He actually used to say all 3 books were already written and the publisher didn't let him release them....and now he's said it's not even finished. I just cannot deal with someone who lies blatantly like that. Also once upon a time there was actually a book 3 date but that's years past now.
uh... nope. lol but it is an expansive space opera with different politics going on on various planets and a looming alien threat so it does have some similarities. but a lot of narratives are set up in a similar way.

At this point I'm just disappointed in Patrick Rothfuss. I used to recommend his books and I don't anymore. Once he started joking about the 10th anniversary edition of the first book in his series I was out. He actually used to say all 3 books were already written and the publisher didn't let him release them....and now he's said it's not even finished. I just cannot deal with someone who lies blatantly like that. Also once upon a time there was actually a book 3 date but that's years past now.

uh... nope. lol but it is an expansive space opera with different politics going on on various planets and a looming alien threat so it does have some similarities. but a lot of narratives are set up in a similar way.

@@BooksRebound I've only just finsihed reading 3 a few weeks ago. I've kind of slept on the series for the last year. I'm glad to know book 4 is better then what I've allready read because evrey book has just gotten better for me. Page turners for sure
