  • This is how to split half double crochet. Insert the hook between the legs of the stitch instead of going through the stitch itself. Half double crochet as normal. #crochet #learntocrochet #crochettutorial .

    Hi Mickey,
While I was watching this you mentioning splitting it made me think of how in the early pioneer days the farmers or cattle men had to have split rail fences so this stitch could be called the 'Split rail post' stitch 🎉 Beauty Eh! 🇨🇦

Amazing what names can remind us of. :) I was thinking splitting logs myself. We weren't far off from each other.

I love this stitch! I have spent the last week trying to decide what stitch to use on my chunky wool for a throw rug. I think I'll try this tonight. 😊

This is really neat. I am just a simple crocheter meaning I have never done any fancy stitches. Mostly just single or double. Plus I haven't crochet for a long time but have wanted to get back to it. Thanks for the demo.

This is really neat! I like the way the stitches are more vertically aligned, as opposed to the regular hdc. Would you recommend using a larger hook than the yarn suggests?

So if I’m understanding this correctly, is this not just a hdc waistcoat stitch? It’s seems to be the same as a sc worked into the posts/split of the Sc from the previous row, no?

Do you start with a Half Double Crochet foundation row, then start the Split Double Crochet?

@@TheCrochetCrowd Thanks for your help. I was looking at the following pattern that called for split front post double crochet. Sorry, I meant split fpdc and not split dc. The pattern gave instructions for it but I wasn't sure I could follow it without a video. Here is the link to the pattern: www.mooglyblog.com/final-frost-beanie/
