Don't really care about social media but i love quality pictures. My OnePlus 7 has been a real bitch. The bugs on this phone is just insane. I'm tempted to get rid of it after just 3 months. It's prolly the worse phone I've used in 3 years now.
yeah the only issue with that is Gcam is only going to use a maximum of 12MP of that camera. Its ported from the pixel remember, i have a 48 mp camera and i use gcam, so cant go above 12. selfies are also capped at 8 MP max. The photos will be infinitely better, but 108 MP will be useless

i installed gcam on my 2 xiaomi note phones and it did make a lot of difference couldnt say about this one though since most of the reviews put this one on par with gnote 10+ especially the night shot..
According DxOmark, this $500 phone's camera beat every single flagship available right now... (sans Mate 30 Pro which get same score) CC9Pro, and MiMix Alpha also use this same sensor.. S11's camera will be a beast. They'll fix that focusing and low-light problem, maybe they'll add 8k recording (If the next Snapdragon support it), and even better slow-motion

You got blury edges because the ground you picture it is near and Xiaomi as a larger sensor have diferent focal length... Try make a portrait with the 108mp and see how nice and natural bokeh effect 4. The latest update give 0 lag for 108mp photos Just brought this phone and first impressions are very good. You could mention that the 50x from the 5x optical lens coul be easily accived by 108mp sensor by just dropping and digital zoom, looks even better as detail because more light... The 5mp 5x is in fact 8mp with 3.7x, so 108/4=27mp crop as 2x, further 27/4=7mp as 4x so about the same... Also let's go back in time and see if you said that Nokia 808 or 1020 is no compare to iPhone, as iPhone than only foul its customers with oversaturate filter photos...

Well, July 2020. I'm using the Mi 10 Pro with Gcam. it is basically the same camera and it is amazing. So much detail to work with ! Wide angle is really good, main is awesome, and the two telephoto lens are very useful. the 50mm one is really good too. Only downside is that the huge main camera struggles with short distance objects like taking photo of food . Other than that, probably the best camera on the market right now.
Exactly my thoughts! I have been using redmi note 7 with gcam as my main photo app and I am super satisfied. Can't imagine the incredible images this thing can put out with gcam
Would be good if one day we have more reviewers of phone cameras that are actual photographers and know for example how a traditional SLR and DSLR work, refraction, know about lens build and quality etc, instead of saying - and I'm paraphrasing - "that the picture doesn't have so much detail towards the edges as it does in the center."

Only a complete idiot would ever like a curved screen. It looks amazing while the phone is off, but turn on the screen and it looks like distorted shit. Also its terrible to hold it without getting in the way of the image, easier to brake and also accidental touches.

With the level of processing available now, I can't see how monolithic sensors are still standard. Take a quad 12MP sensor array and gather detail from multiple exposures off each sensor (so at least 12 pictures in total) and you might actually get the kind of jump in both low light and general image quality that Smartphone manufacturers keep saying is going to attract professional photographers. Not to mention the implications for gathering really good HDR in a single exposure.

Not really, it doesn't have a high end processor nore the pixel neural core, so the processing power connected to that photo sensor will always be the bottleneck
It is actually. More MP allows more light to get into the camera to allow for better shots and no loss quality zoom It just needs the right implementation to truly take advantage of it
@Lockonese it can mean better light exposure because usually the camera sensors tend to be bigger... That's one of the ways how they are able to get better sharpness.
@@eventusvantos2770 sorry but you can actually get the opposite, the amount of light that get to the sensor is physically limited to it's size, but 108Mp sensor doesn't get more larger than the 12mp. So you end up with the same size sensor, but smaller phototransistors, wich can't capture the same amount of light

With the level of processing available now, I can't see how monolithic sensors are still standard.
Take a quad 12MP sensor array and gather detail from multiple exposures off each sensor (so at least 12 pictures in total) and you might actually get the kind of jump in both low light and general image quality that Smartphone manufacturers keep saying is going to attract professional photographers. Not to mention the implications for gathering really good HDR in a single exposure.

Not really, it doesn't have a high end processor nore the pixel neural core, so the processing power connected to that photo sensor will always be the bottleneck
@@mnjcosby has a good enough snapdragon DSP which is where the GCam actually does the processing.
@@mnjcosby an inferior processor just means it'll have a slower processing time, not necessarily an inferior quality photo post-processing in any way

It is actually. More MP allows more light to get into the camera to allow for better shots and no loss quality zoom
It just needs the right implementation to truly take advantage of it
@Lockonese it can mean better light exposure because usually the camera sensors tend to be bigger... That's one of the ways how they are able to get better sharpness.

@@eventusvantos2770 sorry but you can actually get the opposite, the amount of light that get to the sensor is physically limited to it's size, but 108Mp sensor doesn't get more larger than the 12mp. So you end up with the same size sensor, but smaller phototransistors, wich can't capture the same amount of light

My RN5 came with MIUI 9 out of the box, then updated to MIUI 10 and now MIUI 11. A lot of new features with the updates and the performance/battery is still the same, even after using it daily for more than a year.
I am still getting updates for my Galaxy A5 which came out in January 2017 lol
Though I'm not a Xiaomi user, we should give credit to it for lowering the price of phones.
