@@steveparker9361 they’re not discontinued, so will no doubt be in stock again. I believe Westcliff works are planning on bulk buying, so they can offer them with the chassis
That was the plan, but unfortunately my work life is so busy this week that I didn’t have time, I’ll be doing a follow up video with the locos running soon
I think I'd use the sharp end of a cocktail stick for more uniform paint dots on your lining. Also I've watched nearly all your videos, and seeing that black paint go on is no less terrifying now than it was the first time I saw you do it, can't argue with the results though.
Lovely job on this! You absolutely captured midlander's colors very well here! I saw one of the prototypes of this model my friend TomTeeLegend had back in March at a train show we do together. While I love classic midlander, I honestly kinda want to model fatlander more. I've been binging your videos recently and I've had such the urge to model the TR that I bought the fourdees Edward Thomas kit last week lol.
* These are AMAZING! Been binging the entire Nant Gwernol series and this needs more attention, the love and care you put into this is unmatched * However I do unfortunately need to give this a 0/10 for no reference to Rusty when adding the black wash lol
This is pretty cool. Being from America this is definitely a different thing. This is like my 04 shunter I have with a guy stuck on the side. I have to work my mind to think about how large this would be in real life. Thanks for sharing!
Your clips are always a highlight of any day George. That lining ..... Wow!! When I saw Midlander for the first time (over 50 years ago ..... God, I'm old!!) It looked so much smaller than I expected and your model catches the titchiness very well. Very impressive lining technique there. Cant wait to see this little beauty with plates affixed. Any plans for Alf? If so, any for spare set of frames -dumped- carefully stored in lineside undergrowth?
Thankyou so much, yes it’s a tiny loco, infact this morning I saw a photo of it up against one of the Baguleys, and its roof is only at bonnet height! But yes, Alfs on the way
Great job, this looks fantastic!! Modern day Midlander makes me so confused to look at, as I am a fan of the Railway Series and TTTE so I am used to looking at Midlander as built, rather than as preserved thanks to Rusty 😂
@@GWilliamsonModels that’s true! I’m always going to be biased to the old shape, I don’t dislike the new one, it’s just not what I think of when I think Midlander because in rebuilt form it looks like a completely different locomotive.
An absolutely beautiful model there! I've been eyeing up this model for a while now, just questioning my skill. Where did you get the chassis from? I had a, albeit breif, look and couldn't find anywhere with them in stock
God your tutorial videos are so good! Quick question, when you’re painting figures, what do you use to handle them? Is it a straw or simple stick with some blu tack?
Lovely job. I do wonder if you should do the glazing after the black wash though as the black paint residue on the windows isn’t the best, I noticed that on the carrs particularly. But it’s a minor thing. And was all the faff with the airbrush worth it to spray the buffer beams red? I’d have brushed them. Lining is proper gorge. ❤
Yes Tbf I agree with the glazing, though after the videos I do go back and wash them, but I’ll try and do it post wash next time. But regarding the buffer beams, I didn’t use the airbrush for them, both primer and Humbrol 220 are in rattle cans

always (NOT almost! auto type :0 ) look forward to the content, i may yet give up on N gauge and re start in 009 :), did you order the bogie direct from Japan? looking at plaza for powered bogies is bewildering! happy to order from plaza (have done so in the past) trying to scratch build n gauge steam trams.. after all how hard can it be to build a box :)
@@GWilliamsonModels thanks George Plaza have a few good looking brass kits they do recommend a bogie (out of stock) but dont give dimensions! i was thinking a ground down Kato might work!!
It depends on what type of paint is used, you need something that the transfers will key on to. And they’ll always need a varnish to seal them in after. So as I use acrylics, the transfers don’t stick brilliantly, so it would help to give it a clear coat first, but then a second after to seal it all in.
What a lovely little loco. Even though I’ll always prefer his original condition, I can’t deny that you’ve made Midlander look so good. Are you gonna model the rest of the Talyllyn fleet?
@@GWilliamsonModels Awesome. I expect Talyllyn and Edward Thomas will be next, since Bachmann Skarloey is close enough to the real loco and Bachmann Peter Sam has the Fourdees body shells. Sir Haydn will have to wait until Bachmann Sir Handel comes out
I just wish west cliff answered his emails as I have a body i brought from that last year from Statfold however when I got home it was servilely warped looking like it had a rear end crash, we emailed and agreed that I'd wait until the new 3rd version of the loco to be made and he will send me that one as a replacement. Quite a few months pass I thought I'd email to see how his doing and any luck and no reply, then I emailed about a month ago again but nothing. Such a shame cus is a talented guy. wish it could be resolved sooner than later tho
0:23 . Fat lander . Sorry but why 😂😂😂 I saw the guy at awdery extravaganza dressed as rusty in black and a face on the front expecting him to be huge . But the guy was acctually rarther small . I mean the first narrow gauge railway I have ever been to in my life and corris 10 or sirhandel was off down the line so I couldn’t set and in the cab or nothin . So I just went ahead and chilled with rusty . And I am a 5,2 foot tall person and couldn’t fit in the minuscule cab of him . I now wanna make a lil model of him . Maybe using this and just shove some wagon wheels into it and maybe dress him up like the event did . Maybe I could
It’s a very small engine compared to most, but I think fatlander refers to its modifications since the original shape..it’s affectionate either way ;) Good to hear you got to go there, the event looked so fun
Very happy to have made a small contribution to this one by being the one who imported the initial batch of ARU A4015s for westcliff :)
