When working with resin prints, you are much better off using a razor saw to separate pieces than clippers or a knife. Either of the latter will cause the resin to flex as you cut into it, causing breakages as you found with the roof.
Looks excellent. A little thought for the cab interior. If it's going to take several coays to cover, would it be worth making the first coat a more opaque white perhaps to hide the blue? Then the cream might need fewer coats.
Extraordinary quality build as always, I just received one of those Percys for the chassis in the post a few days ago, they have no business being as good as they are!
A lovely looking model, Resin and 3D printing really do seem to be revolutionising the model world. I don't model in 009 but your channel is a great watch and is making it difficult for me not to have a dabble.
This is WAY too underrated! This is amazing I’m just about finished watching it so know I will watch the Edward-Thomas video! This is amazing also I love the part where you say you hate the cream interior painting 😂
Thankyou, it’s all down to westcliff works..work 😅 it’s easy to paint up a model if it’s a quality product, I really enjoyed this, and it’s a great runner so will be put to good use when the layouts ready
The real Skarloey Coach, Open No.8, was actually painted using the left over blue paint from No.6's repaint in 2018! So using the same colour on the models is spot on haha
Absolutely love how this one came out - I am impressed by how well the mechanism hides on this thing, and I wish I had your painting skills :)) Westcliffe really did an amazing job, and so did you, so I am incredibly excited for more Tallylyn locos . For couplings, my personal vote would be the same ones as the Corris layout, partially for consistency and partially so you have the option of running stock from one on the other for interest if that's ever something you want to - but this layout is a different location and era so go with whatever works :))
Yeah I think painting it black makes a big difference, as it’s hiding the shiny brass bits on the chassis. I would love to use the chains like the Corris stock, and it’s a good point, but because the layout needs to be operational I’ll need proper couplings on this one. That doesn’t mean that the Corris stock can’t be run on the layout..
A great job on a lovely loco. I'd suggest you tone down the bright finish on the coupling and connecting rods. In the past I've dry brushed flat black, although your method of washing black off would probably work well.
Brilliant job! Your models are seriously inspiring me to make my own TR OO9 fleet. Also i believe the knob thing on the back of Douglas is for a little beeper thing for driver and guard to communicate with?
Thankyou, and I’m thrilled to hear that I’m inspiring you, best of luck with your modelling! Thanks, yes I thought as much, just couldn’t think of it as I made the flippin video 😅
Nice job, one day I hope 3D printing will improve further and be able to avoid those diagonal printing lines (you can see them on the cab). But the details on the print are super. I also wonder how long before multi colour 3D printing??
been doing some railway modelling lately but have mostly been using spray cans and brush painting. really impressed with the results from airbrushes but dont know what to go for,, they are quite expensive so want to make sure i get something good. do you have any tips or recomendations. and douglas looks lovely.
Spray cans can work well, I used them for a couple of years when I started modelling, but the paint is too thick for models really. I never use expensive airbrush, something like this - eBay item number 203842242789 I think an airbrush is a really valuable tool to have, so try and upgrade to one when you can
You say the paint is similar to number 8 but only recently found out that the blue paint is from number 6. Also the “weird circle thing” is the TCS cable
@@GWilliamsonModels nah yellow is better in my opinion. I mean the talylln railway’s engines aren’t all the same colour so why should the skr engines? no offence to the thin clergyman of course.
So actually on the real coach 8 they used RAF blue as they had it and wouldn't have to buy new paint so this makes it more accurate to the real loco and coach in a way! Also we're did you get those transfers I could use some.
@@sliverjack0283 they were a seller of personalised decals on eBay who I sent the artwork to. Unfortunately I’ve tried to get in contact for other jobs and haven’t heard back, so assume they no longer provide the service

great thanks for that! I’ll have to give that a go next time
The model came out brilliant! My heart just about stopped when the roof broke.
It’s a reality of resin and 3D prints, nothing against westcliff works atall, and luckily its super easy to put back together 😅
Super satisfying.
Felt like that Toy Story 2 scene of the oldman fixing Woody!
With the Walchaerts Valve Gear it would be Perfect.
I’d love to fit walchaerts to it, hopefully one day!
Perfect Loco there👍 I believe the Skarloey coach was painted in Douglas’ left over blue. Great watch as always
Looks excellent.

Oh well that makes sense then, and means my model is that little bit more prototypical!
Possibly, I wonder if it’s worth painting the interior before the blue, then masking it off for the main colours
Looks amazing! Douglas has so much character and stands out so much on the Talyllyn. Just the same with Alf
I agree, I love how it stands out in the woodland area
Extraordinary quality build as always, I just received one of those Percys for the chassis in the post a few days ago, they have no business being as good as they are!
Thankyou my friend. Yes it really is, 009 and n gauge chassis have come a long way in the past few years

I really appreciate that, thankyou. But yes, I loathe cream interiors 😅
Heres a tip. When it comes to brushed detail , like that cab cream especially, use enamel paints. One coat coverage means half the buggering about
Yes that makes sense, I’ll do that next time!
“The smokebok dart”

I really meant it

The RAF blue just can't be beat.
Absolutely not, I really feel like it’s the best livery 6 has been in
This is great, having seen the real loco this year, you have done a great representation. Also the weathering is a nice touch. Regards James
Thanks James, it’s a big compliment if you approve after seeing the real deal!
Very cool, and will look amazing with a crew.

@@GWilliamsonModels I just think I will do just that. The real challenge is can I make it "dead rail"??

Water slide decals really need to go over a gloss varnish, it improves adhesion, then use satin as you do normally.
