Great stuff! Glen is now in Orchestra (Former Members of ELO and ELO PTII), he took Kelly Groucutt's place, after he passed away in 2009. Glen was asked because he was good friends with Kelly when he was alive, and used to stand in for him when he was sick.
Styx didn't get rid of DeYoung. Shaw left from creative differences and the band later split. They got back together with Burtnik to replace Shaw. Eventually Shaw comes back when DeYoung isn't around. Later DeYoung finally comes back but couldn't tour because of his eyes. The band went on without him using Gowan and DeYoung sued them for using the Styx name. Later DeYoung's name was removed from the official Styx website. It was all about Shaw and DeYoung not getting along.
I saw the orchestra when they were ELO PART TWO around 1991 when there first album was released. They were touring with Kansas what a treat that was to see them also. My first ELO concert was the1981 TIME tour that was by far the best concert ever in my life. I just wish that Jeff would reconsider doing a few venues (his voice still sounds fantastic), with Richard T Bev B and Mik K.... here's hoping for a miracle in 2013...
During that time, Styx reunited (this time with Tommy) to re-record "Lady" and went on tour. By 1999, they were touring and recording Brave New World when Dennis announced that he suffered from light sensitivity (this is why you see Dennis wearing dark lensed glasses in interviews). By that time, the other band members wanted to tour and decided to go on without DeYoung (not to mention Tommy and JY's growing tensions to DDY through the years).
oh hell ya, first comment wow, he has an even BETTER voice over now?? :O sad face at 3:15, i wanted Dennis to do it, even if he cant hit that note anymore! >D
@Cr0ssb0w18 It looks (and sounds) like he might have been having a hard time hearing himself making it even harder to hit the high notes correctly. His voice is still incredibly good. Dennis has held up well over the years. Its good to see Glen back! Keep rocking guys!
Yeah, you notice that he keeps reaching up and adjusting his in ear monitors. Those things can really screw you up if they don't work properly.. Dennis still has an awesome voice. He just turned 70 this year and is still going strong.
and went on without him and Gowan joined.. Dennis played one last show at a Telethon with the guys just because he promised he would... and now 13 years later they are kicking butt without him and he's doing his thing...
The beef between Styx and Dennis DeYoung goes back to 1980 when the band fired DeYoung due to his creative directions. However, they couldn't find a replacement and hired DeYoung back. After making Paradise Theatre and Kilroy, there were tensions between Tommy and Dennis that lead to their hiatus in 1984. By 1990, Styx reunited with Glen replacing Tommy, but tensions grew between Dennis and JY through the '90's. JY claims that Dennis would only stay with Styx if they followed his direction.
Tommy left in 1984... Then they got back together with Glen in the late 89.. Then A&M wanted to repackage their greatest hits but wanted to get the rights to do Lady so they all got together Tommy, JY, Dennis and Chuck to rerecord the song in 1995 with Todd ghost drumming at the time then they took it on the road.. Then in 1999 during the recording of The Brave New World the crap hit the fan again and Dennis fell ill and the guys gave him sometime but couldnt wait no longer.
They are Oakleys. Not sure if they still make them. They were made for the Australian track and field team, I believe for the 2000(or 2002) Olympics. That's me in the video.
This is about as close to a Styx reunion you will get with Dennis and Glenn. They are my two favorite Styx members.
He is thanking ahead of us because he knows we will have to in the future. That's just how it is.
Fantastic, Dennis looks great. This sounds awesome. KEEP ON ROKKIN DENNIS, YOU FRIGGIN RULE
One of the best songs of the 80 's . Fantastic 👌👌👌😍

Just as I thought, De Young could not hit the high pitch scream!
Chuck and Jeffster made this reunion possible :) They made this song popular again

The best Denisse Deyoung
where do you get shades like those? i want them...any ideas?
They are Oakleys. Not sure if they still make them. They were made for the Australian track and field team, I believe for the 2000(or 2002) Olympics. That's me in the video.
After seeing this keybordist play I would question his fate with my band dude looks hella bored.
turn up the volume
That is John Blasucci on keyboard.
who is at the keyboards?
The guy on the keyboard seems SO bored, like he doesn't even want to b there.
That's still Deyoungs keyboard player. He isn't bored he just has a calm style sorta like John Deacon had in queen
Would be better if the instruments were louder.
Whoever watched Arrested Development must laugh right now so hard.
@Laila9990 exactly!
....did not expect that at 03:16, not from the bald guy anyway!
Way
somehow these parts 3:38 - 3:55 remind me of Mario Galaxy
looks like good ol' Dennis is still rocking just like he knows to
@t22films i cant im not an artist hey how about u make one for me
i want that mask so badly
Kilroy was here
tiene la voz muy parecida a fredie mercury
thumps up for kilroy
This is better in the studio
I am the modern man
the guy at the keyboards is cute
If his hair was dark, I would think he was Dorian Gray....and as I recall, he references Mr Gray in one of his songs...hmmmm...
2:23
guy playing keyboard does not look impressed
Styx now days sounds a lot better live then he does solo...
That was kinda bad.
Music is subjective
@@James-ko3gw Love the song, just didn't like the mix and performance.
Thanks Dennis for ruining Styx with this song and your other stuff from Kilroy was Here.
chas webb
paradise theatre i enjoyed
cornerstones. was ballads
boat on the river. babe etc
Styx is actually playing the song that broke them up. Roboto. Hypocrisy at it's best!
Awful song
