I only listen to this once every few years on purpose.

This song has always moved me in a way no other song ever has. That feeling you get with one or two songs in a lifetime. Tommy Shaw vocals are mesmerizing. Together with harmonizing of Dennis, it is one beautiful song!
Cindy. I agree. This song, and others, have a lilting etherealness that somehow seems to give meaning to a sliver of of time in our lives that only music with special lyrics can do. I also find that Damn Yankees 'Silence is Broken" somehow grabs me. The instrumentation, lyrics, and vocals just make it special.

Can you believe, a 43-year-old song! Amazing... I remember this song, used to listen while driving my grand cherokee 5.9 .. 2002.... I loved this song, i'll always love...
This song just flows. It's always been one of my personal favorites. The song doesn't look extremely difficult to play, but yet it's just magical. The mandolin solo was incredible and just a single kick drum for the song is all there was, as well as the upright bass, which I didn't even realize until I pulled up the video. The acoustic guitar and accordion fit perfectly in the song too. A song can be simple, but a lot of times, less is more, such as in this case. No screaming guitar solos, and the bass was as about as simple as it gets, which in this case was incredible. John Panozzo was the perfect bass player for their songs. Cornerstone was one of my favorite albums in my youth. Thanks for posting.

I totally agree. When that song came out, I was in high school and didn't appreciate its beauty. Now, it's one of my favorite Styx songs. Such a haunting melody.
And that's too bad. I have always been a fan of Styx. But I only heard this song a few years ago.I don't even know what album this is from. I have "The Grand Iluusion." The thing is, think it could have been a hit back then.
Only classic Styx could have a worldwide hit song with an accordion and mandolin in it.
People will one day seek out this kind of music again. Nothing today compares with this fine example of musical craftsmanship.

Styx is one of my favorite band,, tommy shaw,, and dennis deyoung best singer
Talent on another level.. even to this very day this bands extreme talent is on a whole nother level and undeniable.. Thank You STYX for so much amazing music for all these years!!
Listened to it at the age of 14 ,now I'm mid 40s and it's just like yesterday ❤️
Dennis and Tommy smiling at each other breaks my damn heart
So sad
@Mem, what happened?
@@lindahandley5267 they were Bros but at the 80s the group started to get broken and those two had at it. They still don't talk and deyoung is out of his own band
@filthy, that's a shame. I just watched an old documentary on Journey. These bands are like family, so it's sad when they break up. Thanks!
very much so...such as life in all partnerships
Such a great blend of so many sounds.
Such a great song, brings back memories.
This song has always nearly brought me to tears and I have no idea why. The feeling is like I have lived many lives in the past and am experiencing all the pain, suffering, joy, and love of all who have lived before. It has nothing to do at all with they lyrics. I only listen to this once every few years on purpose.
Thank you! Young are not alone... I too, get emotional, /w tears! Brilliant video, band, harmonizing, unique & awe- intriguing choice of musical instruments, which gives off a different aura, feeling, takes you off to a different place and time... a good place and time. Brilliant lyrics, Tommy!

When music was real and good.
Dürüst olmak gerekirse müzikte melodide bizden iyiler.80 li yıllardan beri bu(türünde)geçilemez şarkıyı biliyorum. Her dinlediğimde şarkıyla bütünleşirim;ilk günkü gibi,bıkmam usanmam.Teşhir yok kadın bedeni sergilenmiyor.Temiz tertemiz şarkı.
This is the first song that made me develop interest in foreign music (in English language).
feels nostalgic! Dennis DeYoung on accordion melts my heart !!
I love to hear this song today... thank god, that great music has no expiration date!!! ❤

John is not the bass player. Chuck Panozzo is. And I hear a TUBA in the music too.
@@cosmosbeing2103 you're correct about Chuck.
One of the purest song and the deepest that I've ever heard in my life.
So beautiful , wonderful and defintely flawless one !!

Very very good. I'm 58 and the very first hearing this on 11.11.23. This should be played on the radio but we'll never see it happen.
😄I'm 71 and first hearing this thru a cover group FRANZ Rhythm 12-??-23...😍🥰
Arguably one of the best Styx songs nobody ever heard of, because it was too alternative for mainstream rockers in the 70's and 80's
It was a big hit in Europe. Not so much in the USA, strangely.
Pure perfection!!!! 2022 still awesome!!!
