This is such a great song, and the perfect opening to what is a great album, the very first concept album Styx ever recorded. This band was truly amazing back then. One of the greatest Rock bands in history.
You damn Brits with all the great rock and roll are getting something good back at times from across the pond. Signing off, an Irish/English/German blooded person. I was eight years old when I bought this album after "Too Much Time On My Hands" was on the radio... Yet the whole LP in addition to that 45 was the way to go! Rock ON, Mother England! (As evil as they are as the USA is in terms of being globalists... They cannot take away our souls!!(
@@jeacaklotom The Hall of fame, is a joke. Foreigner, Styx, Reo Speedwagon, Blue Oyster Cult, Scorpions, Thin Lizzy, Judas Priest, Grand Funk Railroad, Boston, Iron Maiden and lots more great Rock bands are not inducted. It,s a shame. So, i don,t take the Hall of Fame serious.
My sohpomore year of highschool we performed this for highschool marching band thank you our director Mr Chris evetts you always be musical inspiration to me and all the other band wildcats
I used to fool people on trips to Germany by having The Best of Times followed by Rocking the Paradise on a tape (audio and video), and some would think at the start of Paradise that it's the same song over again-- until I'd prove them wrong when the beat completely changes.
Back when this came out I had vague conspiracy theories about Styx being a tool of the government, used to convince us to conform. They rocked but they usually had responsible themes. Listen to this.....you could apply this message to our society today. I guess I was only slightly crazy :)
Quote opposite, I'd say.... listen to Cold War, Heavy Metal Poisoning, Miss America, Blue Collar Man, etc... they are ot at least WERE very anti-government
What's up with Styx, always trying to be theatrical? The only songs I like from them are "Lady," "Come Sail Away," and "Mr. Roboto." The rest of their music is garbage.
The songs you just said are there more theatrical pieces. It was more is dennis' bit. Tommys songs were more of the rock genre. Me robots is one of the most theatric songs they have as it came off the concept album Kilroy was here which was a story about a totalitarian future where rock n roll was banned. So you're complaining about the theatrical songs and saying you like their more theatre style work.
The year is 2024 & STYX is still rocking 🤘
man, Dennis deyoung's vocal prowess is criminally underrated...
this was played the first hour MTV was on the air in August of 1981-- pretty Cool
It was the tenth song on MTV
What a cool way to introduce MTV to the world

when you love Styx so much you name your entire online personality after them
And they're not in the R n R Hall of Fame. What a joke.
This is the song that inspired me to pursue my musical career! Tommy Shaw is the coolest!
One of the first music videos to be played on MTV!
#10
Great memories of seeing Styx at Wembley Arena in '81, great show.

Grew up with these great songs, had this album with 2 holograms on the back of the record. Very cool with a ton of great songs Snowblind, etc.
Styx was America's answer to Queen
Or at least Dennis DeYoung was channeling Freddie Mercury.
J.Y. tried to be likeTed Nugent and Tommy thought he was Peter Frampton
Then America loses.
The it was an epic fail. No comparison..... at all.
I remember this song when I was little it would come on the radio me and my mom would be playing a game
Styx's last good album
explain to me how Styx isn't in the hall of fame? that's not just the Chicagoan in me talking.
Dave Marsh.
And they still aren't

@@ssRocker-nn3tp Completely agree
@ssRocker-nn3tp : Judas Priest is in, the others should be in. It's a shame they're not. They only care about DEI and being woke.
Saw this in June of 1981.
My first concert was REO Speedwagon/Styx in 2000. I was born in 1984.
This is the song that made me want to play guitar when I was 14!
Ah, but did you!? lol. Damn... your comment is nine years old now... GEE, I miss getting more replies from people!
@@joshgellis3292 beats me. But hey, this is a pretty dam good song though.
God these guys are great
"Paradise Theater" (1981) was the best selling album by Styx via UMG.
Styx
"A.D. 1928/Rockin' The Paradise"
Paradise Theater
A&M Records, 1981
This album was my 10th birthday gift.
I never knew this was one of the earliest videos on MTV?
neither did I
#10 in the first hour of MTV.
Styx strode the narrow world like a Colossus!
Big Styx fan from way back but never saw this video till just now (1/6/23). Tommy looks like a kid.
Saw them in concert in Germany! There were Germans, French & American & had a blast!
This is like one of those old VHS "how to be a rock star" instructional tapes you find at the flea market or thrift store
I can't believe there is only 35,549 views in 2017?
2020
この映像はリアルにみていた。一番格好いい!今の技術でイコライジングしてマスターにしてるけどすごくリアル。イントロからの演出が大好き!素晴らしいバンド!

First time I listened to this and I thought it was Queen
it´s a jewel. thanks!!!!
Just amazing!😊
and being born in Chicago, how is Chicago not in there as well?
Never get into a fight with Dennis DeYoung or Mick Jagger.
By the way they really play their own instruments in this video
Dennis - a musical prodigy and by far the most talented member of Styx. Who nonetheless led Styx into an unpopular musical direction.
Alike styx I am a fan been since I was 12im now 49 still a fan today if you dont like styx keep your mouth shut
Grandes!!
Styx pomp rock melodic metal band!

I remember this , but I also remember the next tour..mr roboto, and man, the rubber suits just stopped STYX. I mean OVER didn't even describe it.
HISSSSSSS.... I thought you said this was good quality.
CHUCKS GABON SCORPION BASS THERE I WONDER IF HE STILL HAS THIS
Great video
what is dennis singing bout when he yells go sparky go
can anyone answer this :)
His pet name for Tommy?
I SEE
There is a wiki page about Sparky the dog. Just and I'm sure you'll find it.
It's like the engine that could, a medifor for positively. Dennis puts little trinkets in with the lyrics to motivate and inspire!
ONLY 6131 views???
The audio is the studio version not live audio.
3:35 hot potato!
Dennis DeYoung is Styx.
John Mark Saga brought me here 😂
whatever happened to all the good videos on VH1. Oh that's right they have useless crap on that channel now
what's the deal with the shoulderpads?
It was part of the 80s fashion.
@@RafaelSale For females. JY has self esteem issues.
Had a band called Eargazm from the Chicago area remained together, they would have been the next Styx/Journey. In fact, they were better.
Yup, One the guys in Eargasm was from Pekin.
I remember Eargasm..before that they were called Addison Grace. Personally, I like Addison Grace better
I have their only album in my vinyl collection. Cast My Fate To The Wind, is my favorite. Great footage on YT. Best from the Netherlands.
