The definition of rock and roll is April wine. This is what it's all about these guys were just jamming out and having lots of fun doing it and they were so goddamn good.
Blasted this in my 72 Duster that was just big enough for my surfboard to fit passenger dash to drivers side rear with my girl sitting in the passenger side back seat. She accommodated my board... good girl.
For those who grew in the 70's like me near Woodstock New Brunswick Canada, these are the guys who played most every High School Prom that had a live band. I miss those days when there was a sense of normality on this planet.
The people that are the age now, that we were then, live in the world's normal. Our parents didn't feel like the world was normal in the 70's and 80's. Food for thought...
@@KittyGrizGriz hopefully enough of us will rise to right that particular boat. I definitely hear you. My parents lived through the great depression, WWII, and everything that came after. My grandparents, two world wars, the Spanish influenza... etc. My main point is that any era in our history has been fraught with major obstacles. Crazy is in full view as a result of technology. It was always there. Watershed after watershed down through the ages. I remember when Zeplin and Osborn were thought to be the great downfall of our society. Before that it was Elvis. Mankind has always believed its generation the finest. They were never right. Rose colored glasses... If people read about what these kids on bandstand went through, the way they were treated at school etc., they'd zip it
Yeah, Ricky made a mistake with the April Wine, “I Like To Rock””, but he made up for it by asking Alex to play that “Diane Sawyer” song. That must be off their “Motion Pictures” album. (purposeful mistake) Alex Lifeson is a great sport. All the guys in Rush have a great sense of humor (RIP Professor). Alex did play a little bit of that “Diane Sawyer” song of their’s though. That was nice of Ricky to give Alex a buck thirty six for cab fare, even if Lifeson had to pick it up off the ground. He did call Alex a drunk male prostitute, but Alex called him a kidnapper, so that’s only fair. There is a big difference between borrowing someone and kidnapping them. I’m not sure what it is, but Ricky told me there was. It isn’t Ricky’s fault that Alex is one of those big rockstar, living in his little dreamworld, playing his big fucking guitar. He should be used to this stuff, he is in a rock band you know? Just like Ricky pointed out before flipping Alex the finger, “he started it!”. Alex did start it all when he said, “I’m not a ticket agency!.” What kind of answer is that? Ricky even gave him the option of doing it the easy way or the hard way. It’s not Ricky’s fault that Alex chose the hard way. Ricky was ready with the duct tape though, because Ricky had heard that Lifeson was one of those rock stars that aren’t very approachable. I love Rush. They not only make some of the best music ever, but they all were down to earth people, with no big egos. That’s why they were able to stay together for so many decades as friends, not just band mates. How many rock groups can say that? Lifeson really helped make this skit funny and played some of that “Diane Sawyer” song. I really like that song. I’ve seen them play that in concerts many times, but I have never actually seen Diane Sawyer at any of the concerts?
I honestly had to come find the song because of Ricky saying that. This episode is maybe one of the funniest of all the seasons. Buying weed from the cops, hitting the column while backing out, giving a shit about the damage to his car missing a door ☠️☠️☠️

Was just thinking about that same thing again. Was listening to the Damn Yankees and thought what a cool collaboration it would be with Boston and them if that makes any sense?

Me and my buddy did the same thing. We called it "camping out " but it was an excuse so we could smoke and sneak around the neighborhood. Except, we built our fort out of bedsheets. There wasn't much snow in Houston, Texas, haha.
Saw these guys open for Styx at the Philly Spectrum in 1979. What an in credible performance. That was the first time I'd ever seen three guys step up and play lead guitars. (Hadn't seen Skynyrd or Molly Hatchet yet). Great show all the way around.
Saw AC/DC right after Bon Scott died around I think 79 or something...his replacement "Brian" cool voice too but nothing like Bon....anyway they came back with Back in Black a solid album .... The definition of rock and roll is April wine. This is what it's all about these guys were just jamming out and having lots of fun doing it and they were so goddamn good.
I can't remember ever seeing a band with 4 guitar players....
@@scottpowell4342 Find The Outlaws, then play Green Grass and High Tides Forever, or There Goes Another Love Song.
RIP Myles...such a great rock and roll songwriter! This record's a killer!!!
I absolutely love these guys are was honored to have worked with them.
The best of the best no doubt.
RIP. Myles & never forgotten!!!
My girl, my Duster, meeting friends at the video arcade, going to the drive-in, and April Wine is the start of an awesome Friday night in '81.
Wow - You had same life as me....lol
and for years prior and afterward.
Yes Sir.. Rock On.
Blasted this in my 72 Duster that was just big enough for my surfboard to fit passenger dash to drivers side rear with my girl sitting in the passenger side back seat. She accommodated my board... good girl.
Take me back please..2020 is awful.
For those who grew in the 70's like me near Woodstock New Brunswick Canada, these are the guys who played most every High School Prom that had a live band. I miss those days when there was a sense of normality on this planet.
Amen to that yes me to, they rocked
You mean like Vietnam, and Richards Nixons war on drugs etc.lol.
The people that are the age now, that we were then, live in the world's normal. Our parents didn't feel like the world was normal in the 70's and 80's. Food for thought...
@@SherSpirit 👍. I definitely don’t feel like the USA is normal now; slipping into Fascism~one GQP state at a time.
If people read about what these kids on bandstand went through, the way they were treated at school etc., they'd zip it
Just between you and me, This Band Made Great Music ❤️
She's a high roller, kiks it, Gypsy queen album kiks also, got that 1!
I won't tell anyone, promise
one of the most underrated bands of all time. they are amazing.
I couldn’t stop listening to this when I was a young kid, and now I am addicted listening to it again.
Ditto!!
Not a bad thing.
Saw these guys twice. They were so legit and fantastic live. Impressive band on any scale.
saw them twice also, April 9 & August 9 in the Soo

Low key the funniest moment from Trailer Park Boys - when Ricky tells the guy from Rush he loves their song I Like to Rock
Ya.. funny shit
" play that diane Sawyer song"
Lerxst is the man!
Yeah, Ricky made a mistake with the April Wine, “I Like To Rock””, but he made up for it by asking Alex to play that “Diane Sawyer” song. That must be off their “Motion Pictures” album. (purposeful mistake)
Alex Lifeson is a great sport.
“That’s April wine” :)
I honestly had to come find the song because of Ricky saying that. This episode is maybe one of the funniest of all the seasons. Buying weed from the cops, hitting the column while backing out, giving a shit about the damage to his car missing a door ☠️☠️☠️
Im not giving anyone an "R"
This was THE STUFF! These guys ROCKED! Real rock and roll by REAL musicians!
Safe Journey to the Stars Myles, Thanks for the Music brother!
Got into April wine at 17. In 2017. I'm 23 now ..I still love these guys. I love old school music and walking into an old record shop , I discovered these guys .
What a kickass generation you guys had ! I missed out !
Good Call Dude! Try Spotify or others and listen to the recommended 'genre' songs..It'll lead you in the same direction!, Don't miss out on 70's Blues Rock either...Foghat/Savoy Brown,Aerosmith,Clapton,Mountain, Glad to have you aboard the OG Rock train !!

17 year old April Wine enjoyer here who likes to rock. Can't be arsed with the new wave of music, all sounds the same and isn't original. I sure missed out being able to live in the '70's & '80s, so jealous of you all!

Love April Wine! Love the Tribute to the Beatles with the Day Tripper riffs with the Rolling Stones Satisfaction Riffs! Wish April Wine got More Fame. They are EPIC!
I really liked that riff, too. Is that something all bands did back then or just April Wine, if you know.
@@Scoutfbk if any band did you'd be hard-pressed to find one
Was just thinking about that same thing again. Was listening to the Damn Yankees and thought what a cool collaboration it would be with Boston and them if that makes any sense?
Truly Epic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So clearly I should have read the comments before I made mine... Thanks for clearing that up and letting me know I'm not crazy...
Has stood the test of time and still sounds fresh in 2018...Absolutely Stellar!
Canada's Rock Anthem !!!
I saw them in 2017.Still sound like this!
Got that right. Triumph as well
Ricky prefers Helix.
Absolutely.
2021 and still can't get enough of this masterpiece!
No doubt ! This song was where it was at !
The tribute they make to the Beatles and Stones at the end of this song is classic.
That's why I remember this song!
The way they work together, and with this song!
This is real rock music kids!
R.I.P. Myles. Very underrated singer, songwriter, and front man. So glad I got to see them live. They were VERY impressive as a live band.

RIP Myles, thanks for all the great tunes.
Me and my buddy Ernie used to build snow forts in his back yard. Bring in an extension cord, a portable LP player and sit in the fort smoking his parents cigarettes and listening to Harder Faster. I was 10, now 54... absolutely love April Wine....always will. Canada Proud. The Great White North.

I also saw that tour, long beach sports arena
Styx shoulda been opening for AW...
Saw AC/DC right after Bon Scott died around I think 79 or something...his replacement "Brian" cool voice too but nothing like Bon....anyway they came back with Back in Black a solid album .... Front role center Detroit Cobo Hall 40,000 Watts of power smoked the greatest weed that night.....and one of the greatest performances that I had the pleasure of witnessing, I will never forget!!!! I wouldn't go that far. I saw them in their days when they opened for Elton John. They were good live, but not hardly the best ever.

Tim Rubin Halcomb Do people really rate bands?
Seen them in concert with Molly Hatchet and Ted Nugent in 1980 in Dallas. April Wine stole the show, they were awesome
1979 what a great disco song 4 sure
I love how this song showcases them as a band that can do it all in just 1 song. This song is a masterpiece IMO.
2 different rhythm sections on it I love it.
Trust me. you haven't lived until you've heard them live in concert. One of the best shows I have ever seen.
Seen them in Rockford , Il in the early 80's. Absolutely brought the house down!
Ican't even start to imagine...hair stands on end thinking about it
Guitar 'solos lick ass and they always have a big drum solo also

Amen to that! I'm not ready to stop rocking out and I don't mean in a rocking chair. My long hair is long gone by choice. I got tired of all the care it needed. Got my comb stuck in a tangle one morning and that was the last straw. I had it all cut off the next weekend. Now I just shave it. So much easier. Besides Rob Halford shaves his head so I can still bang my head. Now I don't get hair in my mouth!
