I like the colors of your jelly roll!
Great idea - I can use the towels that are a bit ragged on the edges but still have life in them. I anticipate that when the bath mats get ratty I can then cut them up as garage rags. THREE LIVES out of the same towels!
Loved the way you connected! Makes it so easy
Love this idea!
Much easier to wash these bath mats than the one ones that have rubber underneath!
What a great idea! Also, I might add, you have finally (with your clear & precise explanation & video demonstration), allowed me to understand how to join binding ends & how to miter corners! I can't thank you enough; you are an amazing teacher! 😊
Fantastic tip! I can actually do this!!!!!!
Thanks so much for this amazing clip and all those handy tips !! These would definitely be much easier and quicker to dry.
This would be a great project to get used to doing binding on quilts. No pressure if you mess up, just a bath mat.
Brilliant!! Thank-you!❤
Great ideas like making binding😊
Would be a great baby gift to add with when making a baby quilt. ❤
Good tutorial as always Sis,especially the finshed binding💙
I’ve been sewing for 4 years now and this is the BEST binding tutorial I’ve come across!!!! Thank you!!
Wow, thank you!❤️
So simple 😳 what a hit!!!!!
Thanks Di😘🤩🥳🎊🎉♥️
I do similar mats… for a dog mat. A dog mat is placed in the kitchen where I choose the dog will lay. This keeps her from under my feet. My usual towels are recycled old towels. And, my binding is usually an online fabric purchase that was a fabric content mistake, like poly or poly/cotton.
Ohhh I love this!
You dry off with a towel a couple of times and then it becomes the floor towel.
Adding a binding would help personalize them so each person would have their own, or just add a pop of color to your decor.
I love the idea of making towels as bath mats and just hang to dry. I hate keeping mats on the floor and everyone steps on them and they get super dirty and trap so much dirt. I def need to try this. Great for using those left over jelly roll scraps.
I can't wait for you to try them out.❤️
I want to thank you for a different video you did where you talked about quilting with polyester thread. I purchased some and the 90/14 size needles you recommended and that combo is a winner. I've never had a smooth glide during quilting like this. Thank you very much!
That is so awesome Ann💜
I love your binding technique.! I have struggled with binding for years. I still seem to twist it a lot, lol but this is definitely my go to technique! Thanks
A good way to practice binding on something that is not precious
Makes for great practice for sure✅
Smart Mom Tip!!! ❤🎉❤ Tracy, you are a life saver. I am over the moon with that binding tip. 🎶💐💖
Right?! ❤️
To make it a pretty bathmat do a quilt as you go to one side of towel as well as binding
Great idea❣️
I thought maybe that's what she was going to do with it. A friend of mine did one similar to that technique.
I first learned that binding technique from Fons & Porter many years ago. It’s been my go-to method ever since.
Clever!!
My grandmother use to make bathmats out of towels and curtains if you had a window in the bathroom.
the reason the 1/4 inch worked for you is bc you are using 1/2 inch SA. If you use 1/4 you leave 1/8 inch. I love doing that hack. I learned it from a library book years ago in Florida. I forget the name of the book but it was something like "the mat of quilting" or "Quilting math made easy" along those lines
Thank you for the awesome tip✅
Can’t wait to try it
Great idea! Why haven't I ever thought about managing the bulk on mitered corners? Now I know! Thanks!
great idea
I've thought about using towels for bathmats because everything I buy just doesn't seem very efficient - like dry right or just a pain to wash and dry in the machines. Thank you for showing that just using strips to bind this way we are reminded that they are for the floor
I'm just learning how to sew and quilt. This is a great idea. Also you explain and show what to do. I'm a visual learner and it helps a lot. Thank you for your Chanel and help. Keep bringing your knowledge to us all. Your wonderful. You make it seem so simple. God Bless you. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉😊😊😊😊😊😊
Tracey.....I am a newbie to quilting and struggle with corners and joining. I will be doing both your way from now on. You make it look so easy. Thanks for what you do for all of us.
Awesome...you will have no problem with this technique❤️
Even though I knew what you were going to say, I still hung on to every word and photographed so closely too.
What a brilliant little teaching video for anyone new to binding techniques.
And I love that your using some of your Mums fabric around your home. Its a clever gift idea that anyone can copy. Thanks for sharing. Now I'm off to catch up with the Argyle design quilt, tara xx
Oops, just realised that the pop up for the Argyle quilt is on another channel, sorry!
This is the binding technique that I have always used on my quilts, and it works perfectly everytime! Thanks for sharing…………..
Thank you for that new trick. I have not seen anyone use it before.
love the binding ending technique...the secret is the l/8" to l/4" shortage....makes the binding nice and tight
Best ever binding instructions. Never has been a favorite of
Mine. Made
My day. Thank you
Great idea to use a lint roller on the edges of a jelly roll before unrolling it. Can't tell you how annoying the lint from those pinked edges is otherwise.
I learned this several years ago & I normally go thru about 4-5 sheets on the roller when I do it!! Also do it around the edges of a charm pack or layer cake.
Tracy, I love this idea! Thank you for sharing! ❤😘
Very good idea. Looks great.
The binding part was fabulous, I've watched many different ways to make it work, but yours makes since to me and now it will be so much better. Thank you.
That’s a great idea Tracy especially since you can’t find bath mats anywhere.
I love that neutral floral print.
Thanks for sharing this fabulous way of sewing binding.
Loving that binding hack! Thank you!!
Why isn’t everyone showing this binding connection? It’s so much easier than any way I have seen! Thank you so much!
You're welcome Sherry❤️
This is such a great idea! Thanks for the tip about the mitered corners... I have been sewing for quite some time and have never heard anyone mention to have the miters going in the opposite directions to help with bulk. This tip is fabulous! Thanks for the extra tips and tricks. These will make great gifts, too. Take care and blessings to y'all.
Awesome binding tutorial Tracy! I love the towel idea too!❤
Thank yoy Thank you for this detailed "how to make binding" you have no idea how hard it has for me❤
Interesting way of binding and like the designer binding. I have been cutting worn terry dishtowels in half to make substantial dish rags. They fray at the cut edge, as do un-cut towels after awhile. Might try using binding for oh so cute dishrags.
Neat idea ❤
Great tip on joining the binding, I'm definitely going to try that. So far that has been a problem, so thank you🙂
Great idea for the lint brush.
Excellent idea! Thank you, and I'm only 58 seconds into the video😄
You have just one of the best tutorials I have seen !! Thank you so much ! I will be watching this one again when I am binding my next quilt
Love the idea of marking the cross at the joining point of the binding. Can't wait to try it!
love this ,
I curve my corners too!
I absolutely LOVE your idea. I am going to do this for sure!!!!!!! Thank you for this very practical idea and your very intricate instructions. Enough talking already let’s get to it 😂❣️
Thank you for the kind words Joann❤️ Now get to it LOL😂
Such a great idea! I think it would be fun to add the binding to towels for a college student or to just add a pop of color to your towels. ❤
Hi Tracy! What a brilliant idea!!! Thanks so much!!! Wish I would have had your binding tricks when I started quilting a gazillion years ago...before You Tube!!! Hugs from Canada.
You are so welcome! Now ya know for your next quilt❤️
I thought you were probably going to sew the strips all over the towel in sort of a pattern like a QAYG type quilt. Now that I've seen this - this is a good idea to do for the bath towels too - to pretty them up a bit. I've been cutting my binding 1/4" shorter when I connect for the past few quilts because I was always getting a little tuck when I finished sewing it down. Not sure I will go to all the trouble of this method but it's always good to try new things!
This would be great for a good towel that has reveled on the sides. I have one that I can do this on. Thanks for the tutorial. Great idea 💡 ❤
That is a great idea to cut up an unraveling old towel to give it new life💥
Love the way you did your binding. I will try it from now on.
That new way of joining binding is new to me also. Thank you.
To avoid the powdery residue on countertops and floors, after toweling off, powder in the shower ( tub if you don’t have a shower). Cleanup is a breeze.
Now...if only I could get my hubby to do that....LOL🤣
What a fantastic idea. I usually buy tubmats with my towels but noticed recently that it’s not a common item anymore. Alot easier to find a matching/coordinating towel instead. Thanks for the binding tutorial; especially joining the ends. That’s the part I have the most problem.
Sometimes people give me jelly rolls and fat quarter bundles as gifts and the colors are not my favorite but those quilts always turn out to be my favorite 😂
I love how you joined the ends of the binding!! That said, I don't need enough bath mats to use up all of my jelly roll strips! LOL
🤣
Wow sis!! That corner was perfect!! I love the rug idea!!❤
Thanks sis...practice makes perfect ❤️ and girl..you know...I sure do get enough practice LOL😂
@@TheSewingChannel You sure do sis!!😂😂😂
Yep, that binding technique is gonna be a game changer! I can't wait to try it!
I love how these turned out! TY for sharing with us!
You are so welcome!
🤯 Wow, that binding hack is amazing. I’m trying that next time!
What a great and new idea! Thank you so much for sharing.❤
That was a beautiful jelly roll!!! 💞💞💞
Bind like a Boss
That is the RUclips tutorial. I watch to learn that technique. Thanks Tracy great video
What a wonderful idea for a gift!!! Thank's for sharing, Tracy!!! Love it ❤
So glad I saw your binding tutorial before I did the quilt I need to bind. Thanks. I do like your bath mat/towel idea also.
What a great idea, Thanks for sharing, This is how I used to do binding for costumes. So much easier.
Hi Tracy! Your ideas are so creative and useful! Thanks! I hope you have an awesome day!
Thank you! You too!❤️
Wowzer. Thank you for sharing that binding trick 👍🏻👍🏻
What a cool idea! I love the binding hack!!😊❤
Great idea. Love the binding joining hack too. 😊
Thank you, that was awesome. That binding trick is the only way I'm doing it from now on. I've always struggled with it. Thank you ❤🎉
Awesome Janet. You will love it...it's like magic💥
I really like this Tracy, and would have used it when our children were growing up. But as a senior I need a non-slip bath mat. Any thoughts on that? Another great tutorial! You are such a great teacher! ❤
I wonder if you kept a piece of that "grippy mesh stuff" in the bathroom and just laid the bath mat on top of it everytime? Like a "use as needed" item? Just my initial thought❤️
@@TheSewingChannelI was thinking the same. And since it’s a mesh, you cd even sew it on the back of the mat before binding it, and it will still air dry just as quick. Only thing is, not sure if that stuff can go in the dryer. Maybe cd test on a washcloth sized piece.
Well you made that look easy 🎉. Thank you. Love it
I love the floor mat idea. I’m a little weird when it comes to towels touching the bathroom floor and then on our bodies (bathroom germ-a-phobic 😂) even if they are washed between the two uses. 🤷🏻♀️. I have plenty of scraps to use. Thank you! I love all your video, enough talking already I need to watch another one of your videos. 🤭
I was the same as you...I never wanted my "good" towels being trampled on a floor with wet feet LOL😂 (phobia thing I'm sure LOL)❣️
Thanks for sharing...Definitely making these
I was gifted a set of fabrics of the same fabric line for a kit, minus the pattern, but in a different colorway. Mine is black, red, green and gold. I'm making a Shadow Box quilt with it. Beautiful prints, but I agree with you. Yours would not be my choice of colors. Great idea for a bath mat. Thanks for sharing.
Love this. Will have to make a few. Thank you Tracy for sharing your video tutorial ❤
I love the color way of your jelly roll! It would’ve made a beautiful quilt!
I have lots of strips left...they just might make it into a quilt🤷🏻♀️
Clever idea Tracey thank you for that great tip and for sharing with us x
Thanks for tips. Thanks for sharing
Another fun video, I love your tutorials Tracy. 🛁♥
Thank you Tracy. Great tutorial.
There's an easier way to connect jelly roll strips:
Use the binding tool and cut the two strips making sure that wrong sides are facing. Easy Peasy!!
Great job Tracey ❤
Loved the binding hack bi will definitely try it the next time I bind a quilt
I like this idea. Have you ever done 2 layers of towels with binding. I think it would be softer and absorb more water, but it would probably take longer to dry. Any thoughts on this?
No I haven't tried 2 layers of towels. Using 1 towel seems to absorb nicely🤷🏻♀️
Have you ever used a creative grid folded corner clipper tool ruler? Makes binding a breeze. Perfect connections every time. I use it on borders also. Once learned it's fast and easy and accurate.
I've never used it...I will have to look into it ✅
Definitely a learning curve but I think you will love it and realize it's potential. Love your down too earth videos. 👍👍
