I bought one of these for my home, and if it was reliable, I'd put it in my rental houses. This thing works like a dream. One of the heating elements went out af5er 5 years of constant use & troubleshooting it & replacing it was easy with the instructions on the eco website. Yes, I did buy more
One more thing; my old hot water tank wouldn't drain and I had to DRAG it out on my hand truck, because the weight caused the tires to go flat. That was more than a 400 pound on just 22" of floor
9 years in service, still working fine, will be replacing flow meter on mine
Good explanation Sparky.
Thanks Gary!
simple and to the point. great info.
I have an Ecosmart 27 and recently drained the system before turning off the power. Afterwards inspection of the 3 heating elements look ok but the flow to my 2 water faucets is diminished. Is the Ecosmart flowmeter or some other element able to control the flow of water through the system?
What can you use to install a remote disconnect? Since there are 3 separate circuits would you need 3 separate disconnect 2 pole disconnect or a 6 pole disconnect. I am not finding any off the shelf solutions unless you want to pay 2 to 3K just for the disconnect.
Thanks for the clear explanation!! 3 double 40 amps! That’s a lot of power! Is it energy star certified?
Keep in mind that it saves the energy by coming on only when needed and not heating up the water all the time just like the tank water heaters thats why it needs so much power, on average its very efficient
Nice and concise.
Thanks!
@@SparkyChannel the inside of my eco27 has changed a little fyi
What about the Eco 36? Is it that much better?
Nice
We had found your great review of how the EcoSmart 27 works and would like to include it on our EcoSmart channel in a new playlist we are creating focused on in the field reviews and installations by plumbing professionals. Please let us know if you have any objections.
Hi! You can put my video in your playlist if you like.
so if we wanted one for a dedicated heater for a walk in tub, what size would you suggest?
Eco 11
I connected mines and it’s not giving but warm water how can I fix this problem
Just what I was looking for. After 10 BS videos I just wanted a simple tankless heater explained
Right on, thanks!
I agree! The other videos are way too long and still don't have nearly the info this video did!
Thanks so much for producing this video. Liked and subscribed 👍
You never said how much it cost but you know how to install
I replaced the corroded element and still not hot? Any suggestions ?
Make sure its getting proper voltage, triac could be bad or control board, needs some troubleshooting
I have an Eco Smart 27 and when I turn the water on, the display will show the desired temperature for about 4 seconds then go out with no hot water. Any thoughts out there??
I ran across the same problem with my unit when I purchased this home that already had the Eco 27. It just kept shutting off when turned on. So what I think was going on in mine was calcification from the city water. I had a whole house filtration and salt system installed and after about two weeks, had nothing but hot water from that day forward. You may have already found the problem, but I would start with Eco Smart troubleshooting, and see if there are any codes, if not, remove the heating elements and see if they are corroded. Eco Smart has every kind of problem that this unit can run into. Great unit, will not change it. Good Luck!
@@RS-ym3vg thank you for your reply. I spoke with tech support and they told me that the problem was the flow meter. They sent me one, I replaced it and I'm good to go. I went ahead and got an identical water heater as a spare and before they get even more expensive.
Here we would connect the bigger ones to 400V. That would be 3x32A breakers for the 22kW version.
Hi Marcel! Yes, that sounds good!
@@SparkyChannel Less cables and thinner conductors ;-)
Unit has power going in but unit does not start what can I check for
Lo podrás pasar e. Traducción en español x fa se agradecería
Good
Thanks
I need that
I understand!
Can I use 2 cores instead of 3?
Not per the EcoSmart manuel.
The thing needs its own electrical service with a meter
LOL!
My ecosmart heater breaker trips sometimes while using the shower
Your breaker is probably weak and needs to be replaced
Where is the TPR?
My unit only has one grounding wire.
🍻🍺👌
Cheers with beers!
Where are the white wires?
I have the ECO24 and it requires 3 x 40AMP circuits and 8/3 AWG wire
I have already laid out the 3 strands of wires. Can I cap the white wires and just use the back and red?
Where did you see 8/3? There is no neutral required for the ECO24, only one black and one red per circuit plus a ground for each circuit as well. Yes, you can cap the white wires at each end.
@@sghantous Though this doesn't help me, I always appreciate people like you who take the time to be helpful. 👌💪
LOL thermostats? NOPE those there are thermal overload safety cutouts.
