There is an old guy in my parents neighborhood who wears one all the time. He’s like outside doing yard work in old shorts and a holy t shirt and a solid gold Rolex. Such a cool vibe lol
I am generally not a fan of the Day-Date, or even gold watches in general, as it has always given me that “Wall Street creep” vibe, but good lord this once has me wishing I had $40k to add this to my collection. I think the chocolate-diagonal dial is absolutely perfect.
The everose gold really adds a touch of class that is somehow more reserved and subtle than the in-your-face yellow gold finish projects. Nice subject for review, thanks for sharing!
The Day Date 40 is amazing…IF…and it’s a big IF…you can get a great fit with the bracelet. I have owned two Day Date 40s, one of yellow and one in white gold. Both were absolutely amazing, but The bracelet is only adjustable in full links. It was always either too tight or too jangly.
I agree. I got my rose gold 36 in August. The AD fitted it but it felt too tight during the day. Took it back and they added a link and it was too loose. Turns out it’s not a summer watch for me but fits better in cooler weather. And yes, it is amazing to wear. The weight and the shine take some getting used to but once you accept that just wear it all the time. No shame in being a baller!
@@patrickdaly5988 I was talking about on-the-fly adjustment like the glide lock or easy link. My wrist size definitely changes through out the day. Now I daily wear a VC Overseas with silver dial and the quick adjustment is fantastic. It’s one of the few hidden clasp bracelet watches I’ve found that have a quick adjust.
I love the DD and have 3, but in 36mm. A YG black dial, a YG silver dial, and a WG blue dial. All are stunning pieces. A joy is to select one to wear on a given day. I personally have ZERO interest in AP's or Richard Mille and find them ugly and hard to read in most cases and wouldn't spend 5€ for any of them.
It's definitely up there on my list of grails. I keep going back and forth between yellow and rose gold, but I think yellow gold with matching dial is hard to beat. I'd go 36 though.
Amazing timing. My wife and I just went watch shopping and she was blown away by the same Day Date in yellow gold! Stunning watch on the wrist! When I think of the standard bearer gold watch it is always the Rolex Daydate!
Beautiful. In my ultimate Rolex choice, I’d go for a Datejust, 36mm, silver bracelet and silver dial. That’d be my daily choice. And then, if I had enough budget, I would go for the gold version, with green dial☺️🙏🏻
I’ve just got a 70s Day Date 1803/9 in white gold and love it .. yes I wished it had micro adjustments as I’m in the tropics .. in the aircon it’s loose and when I’m out it’s tight
I think this is the first B&J I've watched while actually drinking my morning coffee, wow.. Definitely changed the vibe. My wife's response "it's cute but I hate that bracelet".. I really enjoy the original you showed, would def go for that yellow gold president with a white dial
Yep, beautiful watch. For me i'd go for the classic gold with a champagne dial. I currently have a GMT 2 (Black bezel with the green hand). Adding a gold day date would be my ultimate 2 watch "collection". Love the channel, keep doing what you're doing.
This is one of the most stunning looking Rolex watches I have seen and im absolutely in love with it. The Rose gold with baguettes is just the ultimate looking watch on the market, classy, when you wear it, everyone including the person wearing it is just looking at it, and admiring it.
Worn a 36 yellow gold for last 20 years always admired and and gone up in value to what l paid thought it was expensive at the time but. was it great investment
This is definitely my goal retirement watch except with a green dial. Think the green and rose gold combo is stunning. It’s cool that you even got to try one on.
I feel like this advice applies to more than just this watch. I appreciate it. I can’t swing it today, but I think you’re right - get it when I can and make memories with it. Good advice! Cheers!@@db9071
Yellow gold green Dayo did just with president bracelet. My next by! I was going to buy the VC222. Do you by hasel and too much money I casted the waters with my date just 41 with white gold fluted Bluetooth bezel. White gold crown jubilee bracelet. This watch is a breakthrough. I have a good connection and it's my favorite go to watch so I can't help but want the 41 and cold. There's something about the K shape and the new bracelet that is just spectacular. Also, that 70 hour power reserve is incredible as it is the accuracy. Rolex nailed it with this one!
The 2.11 - 2.24 section of slow steady opening of the hidden clasp !!! Stunning Adrian - so well done / it feels like the watch is actually in the viewer hand or POV
Adrian, I truly enjoy your take on watches. We agree on quite a bit from the fact that that Rolex copied design cues from the Glycine Airman to design the Explorer II 1655 (I'm an Industrial Designer, professional pilot and watch enthusiast of 50+ years). I own the Airman and love the 1655. Also, my pet peeve... "one watch is just a watch, two watches is a pair and it's at three watches that you start a collection, by definition! My Ultimate Rolex... Easy as I wore a 16750 GMT for 38 years, I WAS that "One Watch" guy for 30+ years! However, when it came to my retirement watch (airline pilot, B-777) I purchased a Rolex steel (Rolasor) black dial Sky Dweller, my personal favorite. Please do a review on this watch.
The Rolex Everrose gold is for me the ultimate shade of gold for a watch. Yellow gold has never really appealed to me, and while white gold is beautiful, I'd go for the Everrose without hesitation. It also accentuates the brown color of the dial.
If Chronext is going to advertise a "massive" Black Friday sale, for god's sake don't include a $3960 Cartier marked down to....$3930. Seriously? That is literally less than 1% off.
All subjective of course, but I still feel Rolex’s best watch would be a combination of my 124270 and my 214270 with added bits: 37.5mm Explorer with 20mm lugs, ‘Explorer’ back at the bottom, decent AR coating, OTF adjustment and a crown logo that sits upright. Otherwise it’s a gold Breguet Classique that sets me off every time.
Even for someone as self-deprecating as you, a man who wears jumpers rather than suits, there’s no denying you and your channel have their own classy style and ethos. This video captures that perfectly, splendid across the board as always!
Adrian, please do a video on the Yacht-master 40mm! Would love to hear your thoughts. Many think this is the most underrated Rolex watch that is about to blow up!
Bought my very first Daydate from an AD yesterday(my 3rd Rolex) with the exact same spec on this video, not my first choice as I wanted green dial but decided to buy it anyway for the sake of maintaining a 'good relationship' with my AD. Now I'm debating if this has to go straight to the local Jewerly shop or keep it. I don't think I will make any profits by selling this as brand new now goes around $50k in the secondary market so I may even have to take a loss to sell it.
Like a lot of Rolex watches, size isn't everything. A 36mm Datejust or Day Date is classic and understated. 40mm looks brash. I have been looking at yellow gold 1803 and 18038. Some are really good value. Once it has been serviced by Rolex, it would be a fantastic watch to own.
I'm absolutely in love with it. However when it comes to Rolex, vintage pieces always win me over. If I want a full rose gold watch I'd be willing to put more money down for an Overseas or Royal Oak. Those look the absolute business to me.
Rolex rose gold recipe has too much copper in it, and the end result is too red, too dark and looks too much like copper which is not a precious material. Omega Sedna gold is a much better recipe, it’s brighter and far more premium looking. With Rolex, you are far better off sticking to yellow or white gold, rose gold is not something Rolex does well.
This is probably the best looking rolex ever and the colors somehow make it both striking bit also very very versatile with natural colors so it goes really well with anything. One of the best watches ever! Also I d loove if they were doing this one in this exact spec but black dial and baguette that d probably be my favourite watch
I’d personally agree with Ash Williams ( see comments below ) and his comments about a Vacheron being the one I’d rather choose but that said if Rolex could go back to producing those epic stone dials I’d happily say I’d like one in a 42mm size full platinum or Gold ( not a fan of Rose gold ) .
A stupid question from someone who has very recently got into watches, when something is quoted in its accuracy as being +2 seconds a day, does that mean it is losing time by 2 seconds (i.e. getting slower), or gaining time (getting quicker)?
I agree with your pick for the most part. I would only change the metal and make it the platinum version. Watch nerds know what it is immediately. To everyone else it's just a metal watch. Seriously, most people barely notice it's a Rolex and fewer can tell the difference between steel and white gold on a watch; not to mention platinum.
I think this watch deserves its own designation. It definitely not a sports watch, I think you are correct in saying that it’s also not a dress watch… this piece created it’s own area and deserves its own class. I think this is a Business watch, a watch that dresses appropriately in any arena suited daily tasks, weather Wall Street or meeting, signing papers or taking your favorite person out for a night or weekend. It all out morphs into any task it’s called upon… heck maybe the Business watch isn’t a good enough word for it, but it does handle business with the best of them. Cheers
It’s stunning, I love it but I probably love it more because of the quality of this content. I’m a camera dealer so I’m always interested in what gear people use but moreover, how they use it and boy you do it well. The sharpness of the footage, accuracy of focus, lighting, positioning of the watch and backgrounds......honestly you are leagues ahead of anyone else in terms of quality of footage, the delivery is also very good......top drawer Adrian, absolutely top drawer.👏
I was looking to buy a day date 2 but I tried on the day date 40 and I refuse to take it off so I bought it and I overpaid about 5 grand but It doesn’t matter because the day date is just the perfect watch . It truly means I’m finally successful after all the suffering and hard work . The day date 2 is just a little pretentious and kinda says please believe me when I tell you I’m successful . The day date 40 is all around the better watch . I’ve seen them all . My friends and family owns dd2’s submariners Daytona’s . We all know the Daytona has the thrown but day date 40 is better then the day date 2 . If you don’t know that then you just don’t know . Awesome video
My dad's had a 1970 1803 since 2005. He got it to celebrate 25 years of his construction business. To me, that watch is synonymous with him-there is no separation. I see him, I think of that watch. I see examples of that watch, I think of him. I have owned a 128239 twice now and keep returning it because, as perfectly as it fits me (can't believe you didn't mention the perfection of the hidden clasp and the bracelet in general), when I see it, it kind of feels like I'm playing dress-up in his clothes. They really are GADA watches, if you're man enough to let them get scuffed up at least (my dad's worn his doing construction on quite a few occasions).
Hello everyone I just purchased a 228235 Everose chocolate motif dial and I’m super happy with it. Wanted to know regarding the resell price between chocolate dial and chocolate motif since I’ve seen a lot more on resell with chocolate dial and not so many with chocolate motif. Would truly appreciate anyone’s response. Thank you!
It’s a stunner in rose gold with that chocolate dial for sure. I’d probably lean more towards a vintage yellow gold 36mm, perhaps on a croc strap. Elegant and classy.
I was never that interested in Rolex, just never did it for me, until I started watching content on RUclips... And now I keep coming back to them. I don't know if its because everyone says how wonderful they are but I want one now.
Any day date is my absolute favouritre watch. From stainless steel to gold or platinum in person they are absolutely gorgeous especially with the presidential bracelet
that why I love my 126621 its is right in between dress and sport. and don't brake the bank. but my favorite day-date 40 is yellow gold in white dial with roman sticks.
The Breguet Marine Royale Alarm 45mm in white 18k gold (including bracelet) with black dial is that moment that your own personal success ultimately is founded on those who came before you.
It's an incredible watch indeed.. I sold a SS ceramic daytona and a DBlue in order to get the rose gold olive Dial in the aftermarket. It's a unique peice and the bracelet is easily the best in the rolex line IMO. Though I wouldn't wear it every day its too flashy..and definitely not in the office they'd think I earn too much.. lol. Thanks for sharing!
The Rolex Day Date is a timeless classic. For me either the white dial, yellow gold or blue dial, white gold with Roman numerals just say one word. Power
Agree on the versatility about dressing it down but its still hard to wear it to work in a formal work environment. Maybe cuz mine is YG and not RG. Platinum would have been perfect.
It's a nice piece that is without doubt Adrian but the value you put on it is I suspect way off. On Chrono24 these seem to be 50k euros plus plus. BTW my lovely BB58 925 silver went wrong or broke after six months. Winding it one day the crown and spindle came away in my hand. It went back to the factory for a repair which was done quickly (4wks) and surprisingly came back in a Rolex small cream cardboard box and a Rolex green velvet travel pouch. All cleaned too. Lovely!
I wasn't a big fan of the rose gold or the brown face....until I tried it on a few years ago. Looked amazing on the wrist. Now I want to find one to buy!
There is an old guy in my parents neighborhood who wears one all the time. He’s like outside doing yard work in old shorts and a holy t shirt and a solid gold Rolex. Such a cool vibe lol

Rolex knows how to tug at the heart strings. The Day Date is my grail -in platinum -but this one is not too shabby either!
fabulous, the ultimate bracelet dress watch... perfect size.. prestige, heritage.. but not brown :-) I want the white gold and blue dial.
Did this dial get discontinued? I can't find it on the Rolex site.
It's so evident that this guy is always high on caffeine when he makes these videos! Absolutely love it!
Did you guys see the advertisement at 1:54? Rolex chronometers start as low as $175. Jesus Christ.
that why I love my 126621 its is right in between dress and sport. and don't brake the bank. but my favorite day-date 40 is yellow gold in white dial with roman sticks.
Have got 2 DD's. RG olive dial with diamond bezel, and YG anniversary diamond dial and bezel. Love them both!
Really love that dial.
Would love to own a gold day date someday. I'd go 18k gold though.. "the Tony soprano"
i had a day date 40mm and my wrist is a 7.5inch idk what it is but it looked small on me
I may never get a Rolex…but damn I hope there’s a bag of B&J coffee under my Christmas tree….
beautiful dial. My ultimate would be the Date-Just 36mm with the same materials and dial.
I have two Rolex and a good relationship with the AD do I ask for all gold Daytona next or steel 🤔🤷♂️
The Breguet Marine Royale Alarm 45mm in white 18k gold (including bracelet) with black dial is that moment that your own personal success ultimately is founded on those who came before you.
I think it's the best bracelet Rolex make. I'd like it in rose gold with eisenkeisel dial
Nice just gonna note piece’
My favourite Rolexes are the Day Date and the Sky Dweller. This rose gold/choc dial combo is 👌
The Rolex Day Date is a timeless classic. For me either the white dial, yellow gold or blue dial, white gold with Roman numerals just say one word. Power
4:00 I’m 17 right now, for me, Rolex is the way to show success and in cars it is Mercedes
I’m on my 3rd DJ however the day date has always been my true grail watch ……… and that one is stunning
The classic 18k gold 40mm with either a black or champagne dial is the ultimate watch IMO. I'm aiming for one before the end of this year.
Agree on the versatility about dressing it down but its still hard to wear it to work in a formal work environment. Maybe cuz mine is YG and not RG. Platinum would have been perfect.
For someone with a 7.5 inch wrist, I think I prefer the day-date 36 somehow. The smaller dimensions don’t make sense but on the wrist it works.
Lovely!
Just got my first Rolex. Please continue with more Rolex content. Feed the demand.
I wasn't a big fan of the rose gold or the brown face....until I tried it on a few years ago. Looked amazing on the wrist. Now I want to find one to buy!
