Some things to note about the B1, post-Naboo design:
    - You very rarely needed to alter their designs for different environments. Because they had about the strength of your average human, combined with their relatively light-weight, you could deploy them in just about any most gravity wells.
    - They could identify friend from foe. This may seem common sense but sometimes organics can mistakenly fire on friendlies due to confusion. And though it might be easy to confuse a B1 that is operating independently of a Droid Control Ship, said confusion seldom results in friendly fire.
    - They can jog. Walking is controlled falling and jogging even more difficult, this means that on average, despite being cheap, their gyroscopic systems were pretty good (Clone Wars Series shenanigans aside.)
    - Their design allowed them to operate in multiple roles. Having fingers means you can push buttons and operate controls. While the B1s do not posses the capabilities to operate more high speed craft, in the general performance as crew of let's say a capital starship, accidents are rare.
    - Engineering: Here is an interesting one, this requires its own division. Engineers are problem-solvers and have to have a pretty good understanding of what they are working on. Take the case of the Malevolence and the repair of its hyperdrive. A hyperdrive is very complex and the fact that the B1s were able to successfully repair one, is not something to be ignored. true they were not too quick about it, but they still did it.
    - Machine-learning: Much like our real world has programming languages such as C++ and Javascript, Star Wars Droids have their own as well. it is called bab-prime. The very nature of this code has self-optimization built right in, which means droids learn over time, eventually resulting in the Star Wars equivalent of sentience, called Meta-programming state in SW lore. Even the dumbest droid, given enough time without memory wipes will become sentient. In a meta-programming state, b1s will undoubtedly resolve the problems with both their software and the limits of their hardware.

Part of the reason why the commando druid wasn’t so effective in the show is because they weren’t used right about 80% of the time they were as standard infantry instead of the role that’s in their name, commandos. They demonstrated their effectiveness in the episode rookies by them easily taking the Rishi outpost but almost killing Rex and Cody at the same time. The only reason why they lost is because of plot armor allowing them not to notice several flaws in Rex’s plan to get inside.

The Destroyer Droid was really more mobile artillery than infantry. It was designed to quickly get somewhere and stay there, launching heavy fire and being a hard to destroy element.

However if we look at how many are used, a B1 appears to be closer to ten times cheaper, and while a B2 would be pretty challenging to deal with for an average soldier, 10 B1s is impossible for most individuals without having a massive tactical advantage over them, like a bomb or extremely well-set defensive position.

There are several times regular clones take out B2s and it's a fair match, and we also have times when regular people beat clones, which must mean a standard clone trooper is a good example of average soldiers. Based on this, it's reasonable to expect a normal person could break a B2, as long as they're not just brute-forcing it. They're certainly advantaged over most, but it's similar to how sword duels have worked in reality. Well-trained knights used to be killed by average foot soldiers with inferior equipment sometimes. One of the things that most people don't remember to take into account is that in practically all cases the Republic army was invading separatist controlled worlds. 2.) Fan of the B2: What about the Battle of Danttoni in the 2003 Clone Wars micro series, the army of B2s there did decently well against the Clones. Two Clones had to team-up to take down just one B2, and even then, the B2 managed to take several of their shots before exploding and said explosion knocked the Clones back.
3.) Personally, I'd go with the Commandos over the B1s. They are pretty good, even when they lost fighting the Jedi and Cones at the Citadel in Season 3 of The Clone Wars, they put up a good fight, remember the one that headbutted Obi-Wan.

I feel like droidekas were misused by the CIS. They would have performed best as platoon machine gunners, taking up a static position, presumably one that provides cover in addition to the defense the shield grants, and laying down suppressive fire to pin clones in position while the B1’s and B2’s move up to take ground. They wouldn’t even need to produce them in particularly large numbers compared to the other droids, maybe 1 for every 100 B2’s and every 500 B1’s, if even. Droidekas could provide heavier suppression at a company level, while individual platoons and squads have B1’s with lighter MGs.

While I myself view them differently, I cannot argue with your logic!
    The Droideka, you're spot on.
The BX is the superior model by design and function.
The B2 is in my view alot better than you make it out to be, but it is all in all just a beefed up B1 that never got it's potential fully exploited.
The B1 deserves this spot, because if it didn't it would not have been the hallmark unit of the CIS, it's design was almost 20 years old by the time the Clone Wars broke out and it's use persisted far beyond that. It's weaknesses was also it's strenghts in many ways.
The B1 is in many ways a timeless droid unit, but so is the B2.
Personaly, I belive that the superior Battle droid would have been a B2 with the droid brain of a BX, thus allowing them to work alot better to their strenghts.
Even better if they had used a down-sized form of the B3 Ultra battle droid.
    But hey, that's just me!

I believe the best droid in the C.I.S. Would be the B1-A Series Air Battle Droid. It’s cheap at only 2,100 credits, it’s weapons were built in, their flight abilities allowed them to be deployed in the air without the need to use easy to hit transports, and swarm tactics would work to this droids favor as hitting a legion coming at you from above would be hardest to hit than columns of droids marching at you on foot.

I feel like the "ultimate" battle droid would be something like a B1.5. Put the motors and coordination software from something like a Commando in the body of a B1, and keep everything else. You suddenly have a vast army of droid marines that can take and hold ground by closing distance, boxing in the enemy and giving them no chance to take a breath without inhaling several blaster bolts owing to having absurd agility when compared to an organic soldier, and even by just applying basic tactics they'd be able to get in and out of good firing positions and push an offense. • @reillyhernandez2645
    @reillyhernandez2645 2 года назад

Here's my take: I think the BX is the more effective droid. In its limited production, while it was outmatched by Jedis and Clones, it most often won against non-commando units in its designated field - sabotage and infiltration. It was made to complement the main line of B1 and B2 pushes as flankers and saboteurs lay the groundwork for the main push. We have to keep in mind that because of the scale of the clone wars, how often would they encounter commandos or Jedi? Because of the point-of-view we're given throughout the show, we only see the times they've lost. These BX commandos regularly destroy clones and push commando units to their limits. They had an incredible K/D ratio that made them effective and they could still be produced in a number that the clones could not hope to match for special-forces training. To get a comparable soldier, years of training would have to be undertaken, several battles worth of experience has to be accrued, and a degree of luck in terms of personality to stay consistent and resistant to morale shocks has to be met - this is simply not enough to compete to a completely replaceable squad of BX commandos which deploy more units than their clone counterparts anyway. Moreover, their strengths and weaknesses are not variable, unlike organics. You know their strengths and weaknesses as they were produced. The same could not be said of two individual clones - the same physique but not the same skills and specialization or even experience. They were terrifying to face on the battlefield when employed correctly by their commanders and when supported by their counterparts.
    TL, DR
BX units were just operationally more effective when compared to their B1 counterparts. They got more kills per individual unit and they didn't always encounter Jedi or comparable Elite forces on the battlefield - in fact, Jedi would've been a rarity considering how large the theatre of war really was. They usually deployed around 6-10 units per squad which work together to destroy standard clones and push their elite clone counterparts. Though expensive, they were cost-effective. Often accomplishing their mission or doing enough damage to weaken their objective so that a follow-up operation could be launched. Their use was different from both the B1 and B2 (the same could be said for the Droideka, it was used to protect against ship-to-ship boarding and locking down urban areas), the use of the BX was to flank, outmaneuver, distract, weaken, and possibly eliminate enemy forces so that their B1 and B2 brothers could punch through enemy lines - at this, they were very effective.

“The B2 was considered to be the direct successor to the B1. The B1 was cheap but was mostly a gentle administrator and confused security guard. The later in the war, the more often B2s were fielded across the galaxy, all of the B1s remained in light infantry divisions and usually appeared combined arms efforts. The dreaded cool simple fast and deadly, yet it could be vulnerable a couple times. It is often a Deathwish if you encounter a controlled area, and the price tag is not expected. Variations of it for us so annoying test to deal with on the large battlefields, especially when they are taking a long range pot shots at your armored vehicles. However, they usually don’t stand long against said armored vehicles without running or breaking. And I will say, I don’t even fully understand how they adapted the BX from the B1, but they were highly successful at making a mass-produced killer.” -CS/CT-8711-12 “Cheng”, former Captain and Scout of the 442nd Siege Battalion

Huge fan of your videos Geetsly! Its rare that I disagree with you, but just like the Templin Institutes dismissal of the clone army, I have to say that, in my opinion, this is a mistaken assessment. B1's maybe cheap to the point of always outnumbering the enemy by massive margins, but that only shows you how little the CIS is getting for its expenditure. B1's are easily tricked, easily intimidated, easily dodged, broken, and defeated. They are, I'm sad to say, waaaaay too overbalanced in favor of cost effectiveness. Don't get me wrong, if every B1 could be a quarter of the monster that Mr. Bones was, then they would pay for themselves in a heartbeat.
But as they stand, literal street urchins with rocks and stick could run circles around an occupying force of B1's, to the point that even their more primitive, networked security models used in the battle of Naboo are hand and fist more effective than the "more advanced" independently "intelligent" B1 battle droids that followed. Sure, they have a huge, glaring weakness with the control ships, but at least those things could hit targets, patrol streets competently, and win battles. The B1's rarely do anything marginally competent om screen, while their precursors took over a planetary capital and defeated the Gungan army.
Let me put it this way, if I had a certain amount of credits to purchase droids with, and I had to choose a single type of droid to use all the credits on, and then accomplish a random military objective, I would be more likely to lose at any given thing using a mess of B1's vs an equivalent value of any of the others. They really are more worthless than valuable if you take them by their observed feats, and obvious, constantly flaunted weaknesses. I would even take an equal value of their earlier, networked models, I don't mind them being less intelligence, I don't need the kind of "intelligence" that makes my droid soldier pause to ask another droid soldier if they do or do not take prisoners, or question my orders, consider or discuss surrender, or make jokes on a regular basis.
The B1's aint it. (In my opinion)

People usually overestimate the effectiveness of horde armies. Keep in mind every soldier needs food, shelter, and transportation. So as a army increases in size, it becomes exponentially expensive to utilize it. Even b1s need battery refuels, and the greatest warriors can sometimes just die to environmental hazards before the battle has even started.

Actually, both the B1 Variants, and the other B-series models and others were specialized for their own mission profiles. What I mean is that the B1 was meant for simply overwhelming enemy positions or defending an extremely large area, and the B2 was meant for heavy battle on dangerous battlefields, and the BX was meant for infiltration, espionage, assassination, and bodyguard tasks, as well as missions that B1's and/or B2's cannot perform. The Destroyer Droid was meant for flushing out enemies outside the battlefield and stopping them from achieving whatever they would accomplish. Jedi didn't just fear them because of their capabilities, they also feared them because they could actually be anywhere. They could hide anywhere with their tremendous speed, and as seen with the Sharpshooter variant of the Destroyer Droid, they could pick off their targets from a distance. Ultimately, all of the droid units, overall, work hand-in-hand.
