      women dont rule as a rule so, Sansa would only be propped up as a hostage to get the north to bend , whoever remains. or he'd take her to wife and create a unioin by blood to Winterfell to legitimize his claim through the children.

      @OcarinaSapphr- 4 года назад +11

      @@9822703
      You're mistaken, I'm afraid. 'Women don't rule, as a rule'- that *is* largely true, however, the world of Westeros is often male-preference, but *not* male-only inheritance- it's why Jon would be in line before Viserys (had he lived) *&* Dany; as a deceased heir's children come before their siblings, regardless of gender- if fAegon were really Rhaegar's elder son (I don't believe he is), he would come before Jon & Dany, as would Rhaenys, had she lived.
      That's why the idea of a marriage alliance between Jon & Dany makes sense- like it 'theoretically' made sense for Mary of Scots, to marry Lord Darnley; they *both* had a claim to the thrones of Scotland & England, & the purpose of their marriage was to strengthen their claim jointly. We know why things went south with Mary & Darnley though...
      Sansa is Ned's eldest legitimate child- she comes before Bran & Rickon, in terms of inheritance, despite them being sons.
      Stannis does care about the law & customs; turning a High Lord's daughter into a hostage would be a gross violation & not wise.
      Stannis' daughter is his heir- & he's *still* married - I think it unlikely (but not entirely out-of-keeping with his character, tbh) that he'd be foolish enough to antagonise his hard-won Northern allies.
      However, this flaw might be what brings him down in the books.

      @9822703 4 года назад +2

      @@OcarinaSapphr- never said women could not inherit or as you said it "male only inheritance", but women cannot rule until the males are dead or renounce their claims putting them in line of succession in the case of the iron throne. so maybe you interpreted what i said wrong, perhaps i worded it poorly, but as a rule women are not barred for life, they just can't rule until the dudes are gone, leaving them unchallenged in the line of succession. - it seems we are on the same page.

      9822703
      The thing is, I think you’re applying too much real-world history.
      The question of inheritance with the Iron Throne is decidedly more murky, on gender inheritance (due to the previous civil wars) - however, it *is* far clearer everywhere else in Westeros.
      It’s been established (at least in the books) that seniority comes *before* gender- in the North, for example, Alys Karstark, sister & daughter of the previous lords of Karhold, comes before her uncle/ great-uncle, whatever he was, that was trying to marry her to his son- in order to take power.

      @9822703 4 года назад

      @@OcarinaSapphr- You didn’t read my response. I am referring to the line of succession of the iron throne, not everywhere else. Inheritance for the iron throne is male primogeniture. For the Iron throne, the rules have been both gender based and seniority based.

    I mean he's gonna win it in the books for sure. For one, he can't piss off his army by listening to Melisandre and burning Shireen because neither of them are even with him at the moment (and because he doesn't even believe in Melisandre's religion he's an atheist who just finds her narrative useful and also because he's given orders that should he die, Shireen will be his lawful heir and that his army is to continue the fight in her name). Second, basically everybody on Ramsay's side is just looking for an opportunity to kill him and his dad and have pretty much said that they're going to. Wyman Manderly seems to have his own power play going on by sending Davos to find Rickon. And also because Ramsay, in the books, is kind of a little bitch. Like, the show makes him out to be this terrifying and capable villain but in the books, he's insane yeah sure, but he's actually kind of a dumbass. Like, he's not really good at anything apart from torturing people. He isn't that strong of a fighter and he has literally never won a battle in his life and now he's going up against literally the greatest living military commander on the fucking planet.

It also would've been interesting because both characters would've been built up as likable characters and when the fighting starts between the two, we would be rooting for both sides which would make the conflict very suspenseful and tense. That's the thesis of Game of Thrones, it's not good vs. bad, it's characters we like and characters we don't like vs. characters we like and don't like.

      If they escaped with Kevan Lannister the Tyrells will be an enemy of Cersei along with Kevan who will try to unite the westerlands against Cersei and Randyll would think twice about betraying the tyrells now when they still have heirs and Kevan Lannister would testify against Cersei , she would join up with Danaerys because the tyrells were always allies with the Targaryens now the tyrells have 80,000 plus men and half of the Lannister forces (thanks to Kevan) so Cersei would think twice about attacking Highgarden and that is an addition to the army of the living , there would be no shortage of food for the north or danaerys seeing as the Tyrells still have their food and gold. With the plot armor in season 8, lets say Kevan and Loras would die but Olenna and Margaery survive along with lets say a quarter of their army intact which makes the sack of kings landing easier. Margaery will become lady Paramount of Highgarden, maybe even marry Bronn or Robin. Well I think that Stannis would have found a way to defeat the dragons because even that madgirl Cersei wounded the dragon with only one scorpion I think Stannis would have mass produced ballista for at least defence of the capital and he could have easily defeated the Dothraki as he had veteran troops, he was military genius, he wouldnt give up even if he was defeated in the field by them because he is stubborn, he would always had the option to retreat to the castles and walled cities and just starve them because if they start pillaging the countryside they would loose any little support they have Dothraki are just undisciplined savages, they are predictable in battle, lack armor, lack siege equipment, foot soliders and most importantly they are seen as foreign invaders. If we compare them with Mongols they are lacking in every single thing I just said and even the Mongols only managed to rule conquered people because they exterminated the population which I think Danny would never allow and even then Mongol Empire didnt last that long. If we compare Danny with Aegon the Conqueror she is in so different position to him because he had Valiriyan army, secure base of operations (Dragonstone) in Westeros, element of surprise and many kindoms and hatted king Harren. And now lets be honest its STANNIS THE MANNIS we are talking about! ITS HIS DUTY!

    • @e.v4892
      @e.v4892 5 лет назад +11

      Technically, even if they met in an open field at this point Stannis would have a better hand (excluding the dragons, of course). Between all the armies of Westerns, the Unsullied would eventually get downed. And in a fight between the Dothraki and the Knights of the Vale (plus other nights) I'd put the Knights over them because they have armor; fights would devolve into that scene from S1 where Jorah bodies a Dothraki warrior because they can't pierce his armor. That leaves the dragons as the ace in the hole for Dany, and as you've pointed out, Stannis likely would've mass produced the ballista, at least to the extent that Drogon (with Dany in tow) would get shot down.
      That said, that leaves him in a difficult position for the Long Night. Without dragons, they're at a serious disadvantage. However, at this point I think Melisandre (and perhaps some other red priests) would show their worth. The end result would be a pyrrhic victory, or close to it, with the Mannis winning the day.

      @The_Custos 6 лет назад +12

      I see her as the villain. Like communists she claims to do it to free the people and break what was, but let's look at this way:
      Would the roasted Lannisters soldiers see her as a villain?
      What about the executed Tarlys?
      What about all now under threat from her dragons and armies?
      Has she released a terrifying army of foreign savages upon Westeros?
      Does she threaten to kill people all the time?
      Does she have a shred of honour?
      Historically, who does she copy?
      With her communist ideas (with her on top of course) and foreign army there to conquer she is doubly comparable to the Soviets invading Europe. They too used Asian troops and were notorious rapists.
      An even weirder parallel to communism, mass executing the masters meant she exterminated the upper class. No one would crown Rickon as King in the North. The North know that Jon won the Battle of the Bastards. Jon was crowned because he was the one who avenged the Starks. Rickon would likely give his claim to Jon's anyway. There is no way Rickon would accept being King in the North for doing absolutely nothing.

    • @TheProfessional95
      @TheProfessional95 6 лет назад +17

      Jon would never accept the crown and steal his brother's birthright if he was still alive. The northern lords would never accept a bastard when there is a legitimate son of Ned Stark. Every Northern lord would rally to Rickon Stark, in the books Manderly is planning his whole Northern Conspiracy around Rickon being alive. Regardless of that there have been plenty of times where kings were crowned for doing nothing but being of the right bloodline.

    • @yxng_yeager980

      Robb would never want to leave Kings landing so the imprisonment of Tyrion wouldn't happen, meaning no riverland war for now cersei would still kill Bobby B and Ned would not have the city watch and littlefinger's "support" because Catelyn wasn't there Ned being an honorable man would show up with the paper and well he would get arrested along with Robb meaning Catelyn would have to command the army which is hopeless, she will strike but she will win some battles as far as the twins but the Boltons will betray them eventually with promise as warden of the North from Tywin But on the bright side Theon never goes to the iron islands meaning he doesn't kill the farm boys or Rodrik. Thats my 2 cents it's probably flawed but I tried.

He has no Military experience and is about to face the greatest Military Commander in all of Westeros, with his men being Hardened Sellswords and Knights who still remember Blackwater and him holding one of the Best Fortresses in Westeros. Now not to say that Valemen are bad soldiers. They are one of the best actually, but lets be honest here, Most of them haven't seen real fighting since Robert's Rebellion. Not to mention that they don't really love Littlefinger and if he tries to lead them on a suicide attack against the man who by right is their king, there might be a mutiny. On the second case, I don't believe that Stannis would be easily fooled by Baelish. He knows what he is, Served with him for many years, and has his suspicions and reports on him. As a matter of fact Stannis might just execute him head on as he intends to clean the court of Abominations.

Remember they didn't bring him to Ramsey until Jon marched on Winterfell and Roose was dead by Ramsey's hand. Unlikely- Cersei is monstrous; she hated other females from the time of her childhood (she always thought everyone was trying to 'come between her & Jaime' [this scenario actually benefits *Jaime* as much as Tyrion, because with the enforced distance from the toxic Cersei- had it been made to stick, maybe Jaime wouldn't be the d*ck we meet in Books 1-3]).
      She still likely gets the prophecy from Maggy (which means she still kills poor Melara)- & she's really just up sh*t's ditch with her mother surviving, because *she* was keeping her & Jaime apart after she'd caught them 'playing' sometime around her pregnancy with Tyrion.
      Cersei had every reason to be secretly grateful her mother died- yes, she hates Tyrion, but as much as a prophetic figure of *danger* to her, as an ugly dwarf.
      I doubt she really hates him for 'killing' Joanna- part of her might think she *has* to, like she can't address the relief child-her felt for her mother not surviving Tyrion's birth.
      On Tywin... he loves his wife, but he's a very proud man & in this pseudo-medieval world; misfortune, illness or deformity was often attributed to sins, or 'demons'- Aerys declared that Tywin's beautiful wife had been taken from him, & he was given a dwarf for a son, to 'teach him humility'- in the real world, pride's a great sin- & the Lannisters do refer to themselves as 'proud lions', so maybe there's a correlation.
      I think a surviving Joanna might have mitigated the cruelty - Tyrion's favourite uncle, Gerion was kind to him- as was Jaime, but that didn't mitigate any of the other cruelty, so... I think Joanna's greatest impact would have been if she had seen Tyrion's wit & intelligence from an early age, & helped Tywin see it, rather than his just dismissing it as, 'low cunning'- & actually given him positive reinforcement.
      On the flip side, we all just *assume* Joanna would love him, no matter what- 'because he's a Lannister' or because he's her son - how much worse would things be if she survived, & hated him?

    The moment Melisandre tells them to burn the weirwood trees, the North will never support Stannis. Sansa would also probably tell Stannis to f*** off since she's been used by everyone else. Some of the northern lords didn't seem to care about her anyway. The Gloves didn't and the Mormonts didn't. They all chose Jon over her.
    No one in Westeros wanted Stannis on the throne, even over the Lannisters, and the Stormlands only joined him because Renly was dead. Most of it was because of his new god that involved burning people alive, not to mention people defend their religion viciously. Another reason was because he wasn't good at making friends and was too regid about rules.
    The Tyrells, Dorne and the Iron Islands would still have joined Daenerys. The Tyrells became Stannis would have punished them and because of Cersei, the Martells because they are loyal to the Targaryens and the Iron Islands because Yara and Theon wanted to keep Euron from getting her. Between her Unsullied, Dothraki, her allies and dragons, Stannis wouldn't be keeping the throne for long. Euron certainly wouldn't join him since he wants the throne for himself and Daenerys would have the larger army, plus dragons.
    With Jon, how sure are we that Melisandre was actually the one to bring him back? Nothing happened until his body was alone with Ghost and the Starks's fates seemed to be tied to their direwolves. It could be a magic thing that Jon can't stay dead as long as Ghost lives. Jon is truly alive, unlike Beric, as he does eat, sleep, breathe and his heart does beat. Beric does none of that.

    Setting fire to something isn't exactly super stealthy, expecially the supplies which are the best guarded part of the army.
    And even if the 20 Good Men™ pulled it off, there is simply no change on Earth Stannis's mercenaries would abandon him.
    They are mercenaries, they don't follow Stannis out of loyalty, they follow out of greed. They couldn't care less about Shireen, they would all be more than willing to kill a hundred children for the right price. Its insane how Stannis's mercenaries are seemingly the only soldiers in the universe with a resemblance of conscience.
    Also, they are in fuck nowhere in the middle of a snowstorm, they have literaly nowhere to run. They would never run away, no matter how grim things got. The absolute worst case scenario would be them turn on Stannis and attempt to gain favour with Roose.
    But what happened in the show was beyond devoid of any reason or logic.

    I personally don't think that Daenerys would've been able to defeat Stannis if he took the Iron Throne, and I think my reasoning is quite simple, Season 7 showed us that Daenerys' dragons are far from invincible. A single ballista shot, fired by a sellsword, almost succeded in killing Drogon, her largest and most powerful dragon. Given ample warning, Stannis would've installed dozens, if not hundreds of these around King's Landing and Storm's End, and manned them with his best marksmen. He also would've filled his army with a bunch of mobile versions as seen in the show. If Daenerys' dragons flew within a mile of Stannis' army, or a stronghold held by Stannis, they would be shot down and killed instantly. Without her dragons, Stannis' military expertise would quickly see the destruction of her entire army and, well, most likely Daenerys herself.

    • @OcarinaSapphr-
      @OcarinaSapphr- 4 года назад +2

      Thing is, show-dragons don't match up with book-dragons; yes, with enough firepower, relentlessly deployed, it *could* work, but the time to build & even transport them (& transport the materials), & people to man them in the numbers needed, would have to be taken into consideration (show never bothered with that, of course). The dragons of the books would need far more to be taken down than the show ones did; maybe, just maybe, I can buy Viserion's death- it's an ice-spear, maybe there's some 'magic' that cancels out dragon magic.
      However, Rhaegal's death I *do not* buy: for a start, dragonscale is said to be so strong in canon, that naturally shed scales were collected & made into armour- it's specifically said that *even* the underbelly, which most assume would be a weak spot (possibly from stories) is almost as hard as the upper scales, & they only get harder over time.
      The reason Meraxes was successfully killed in Dorne, was because it was hit in the eye; one of the few *genuinely* weak spots, but so small a target that chances of hitting it were infinitesimal, but that one in a million shot was all the Dornish needed.
      I will agree that the ballistas/ scorpions *could* work, on the walls of the city... but on moving ships, with the kind of torsion-power they would need? Hell no.

      I am aware how the dragons work in the books, and how ridiculous Rhaegal's death was. I wrote my comment before Season 8 even came out.
      That being said, Meraxes was at least a century old during Aegon's attempted conquest of Dorne. Daenerys' dragons weren't that old, barely 6 or 7 years of age. I think it's reasonable to assume dragonscales on young dragons aren't quite as 'hardened' as they would be on a century old dragon. As such, I'm not fully on board with this narrative that Qyburn's scorpions shouldn't of been able a serious threat to Dany's dragons.

    Great video! One thing tho. If the white walkers attack the wall I think it could go bad for the living. We saw when the wildlings attacked the wall that one giant was enough to get the gate up and we know that the white walkers have a couple if not more. So I think they could break or get the gate open and yes if the combined armies of westeros, the unsullied, the dothraki, the nigths watch and the dragons they have all they need to win, but there is one important factor. In this fight Dany would use her dragons and as we saw in season 7, the nigth king can kill dragons and turn them into wigths. We saw him take one down and almost hit drogon as well.
    If he had gotten two I think one could fight the remaining dragon and the other burn the armies. If he only had turned one that could still have a big effect. Without the dragons cover, the living would have a harder time winning and especially with the other white walkers, the giants, animals and maybe even giant ice spiders. With all that and possibly a enemy dragon, it dosent look good.
    Now I know that bye this time they would know that dragon glass could kill them and they would have a lot, but with things like giants and other monsters its not that easy.
    I am not saying that the dead would win however, I just think that they could get though, do a lot of damage, maybe kill one dragon and if they had gotten one dragon, they could have a good chance of killing dany. I still think the living would have won, but I think it would cost a lot and maybe even kill Dany, which would make it hard to controll her dragons.
    As said, great video, love your channel and cant wait to see more.

    I agree with some of this. Firstly this is one of the few scenarios where all the Kings Landing Lannisters die that I agree with you on, seeing as Tywin's dead. I never discount him, but with him already dead, they'd be gone unless Jaime rescued Tommen and got him out of the Capitol through the tunnels, which as Kingsguard he is well aware of. They'd go into exile in Essos the way Dany and Viserys did, IF they got out.
    However, the only way Stannis would get the North is if he becomes more religiously tolerant. If he takes the position he did with the Florents and burns them for refusing to turn away from the Seven, the Northmen won't join him. They dealt with this shit from Stannis' Andal ancestors, and not even a compliant Stark is going to rally them if Stannis refuses to permit them the Old Gods and in House Manderly's case, the Faith of the Seven. Kings Landing is another issue. The High Sparrow will go underground and rile the people up against Stannis and his witch. That city would become a bloodbath from religious war, if Stannis doesn't keep Melissandre on a leash. The smallfolk may hate the Lannisters and Tyrells, but at least they let them worship as they see fit. Stannis and his new god would see terrorism and gorilla warfare in the capitol to the point where he may very well 'Burn Them All' himself with the remaining wildfire, deciding Kings Landing needs to be sacrificed as it's too difficult to hold with a foreign god. Unfortunately that would cost him the loyalty of much of his men, similarly to what happen when he burned his own daughter. IF Stannis takes up a religiously tolerant position, things will mostly go down as you said. If not, he's looking at continued civil war until Dany arrives.
    As for Dany, I don't see Mellisandre letting Stannis and Dany fight it out. More her speed would be for her to convince Selyse to kill herself, freeing Stannis to marry Dany. She knows Dany is open to spreading the faith of R'hllor even if she won't impose it the way Melissandre would prefer, and Dany would see the ease at which she could take the throne with Stannis, not needing to kill so many people in the process. Dany would also see Shireen as a godsend on the succession issue that Tyrion keeps pushing as Shireen was never loved well by Selyse and Dany would be a goddess to the little girl. Through Stannis she also has some Targ blood as well but not enough for madness, so as long as she helps to raise and shape Shireen, she would be a perfect heir in Dany's eyes. Ser Davos would likely loose his position as hand, but Dany would want the symbol of the lowborn Onion Knight made good, so she'd likely make him Master of Ships. Mellisandre would remain at court and rally for the Lord of Light and the fight up North, which a unified Westeros would take on.
    Last but certainly not least, if Jaime does get away to Essos and he and Tommen lead an unassuming life there, a generation or two down the line the Westerlands may rebel. They hate Tyrion, both for being a dwarf, but even more for killing the great Tywin who was well liked among the smallfolk (he micromanaged the Westerlands to the point where bakers who used sawdust instead of flower were punished by the Warden of the West) and even the nobles of the Westerlands approved of him, even if they also feared him, as he got things done and cleaned up the mess Tytos Lannister made. With Shireen as heir, House Targaryen will be unlikely to keep their dragons after Dany, so there will be an opening for a King Tommen descendant to rise down the line.

      Think of every great battle and every great victory....
      Then think about the loser of those battles and you've got Stannis Baratheon!

      TheBattProductions LMAO.
      King Stannis has only 2 Ls in the GoT BS show and only one L within the GRRM ASOIAF Story up to now. But when the next 2 GRRM ASOIAF books are release King Stannis will finish with wins within every possible Battle Situation maybe even a Air Battle. #OneTrueKingStannis

    In the books Stannis does the sane thing and leaves Shireen, Selyse, Melisandre I’m pretty sure and 50 guards at castle black. Pretty sure that’s how Jons getting revived via books.

    Rickon is that one Character that could’ve been of of the Best
    End Game Characters. I hope in The Books he’s still alive and even in the End. Book Rickon is a Badass and He’s More Younger In The Books!

    I actually agree with 99% everything! Really I do!
    The 1% is, well, I still think killing the Night King has a catch, and he almost killed 2 dragons in the space of 5 minutes (the second spear barely missed), so in the final fight with him it would be interesting how it would play out in this scenario!
