If you want a light, nimble car, the 370 really doesn't work for that either. It is a jack of all trades and master of none. Finally, there's the ugliness factor, but I will admit that aesthetics are largely a matter of personal opinion.

SamSesshu The Subaru is more of a daily driver than the Toyota. More creature comforts and less austere. The 86 is more aimed towards the younger crowd, where the BRZ is more mature and refined.
Personally I'm glad this car has an auto option. I'm paralyzed and the adaptation for a manual is 5k dollars on top of the standard hand controls that I need. And as you can see by my picture, I bought this car, so kudos to you Toyota.
Sofyan, I used to not like your reviews because I thought you were very biased but you've much improved and you explain things very well. I've subbed again. Keep up the great work.
I realize this and the BRZ are about the same but as a younger 17 year old and I'm gung-ho on new technology, I love the simplicity of the 86. It's just car and man. No buttons and crap. Just a key. Like little things that I appreciate about this Toyota which also helps with reliability.
The seats, key, spoiler, instrument cluster, additional buttons on the steering wheel, head unit, climate control dials, backup camera, parking sensors and esp settings on the 86 are all optional depending on your country and budget. If your country offers the GT86- The seats are available in red/black, in alcantara/leather or cloth. You can have the keyless entry, rear wing, full botton range on the steering wheel, head unit, climate control, and esp settings that the US only offers in the BRZ. Parking sensors are standard, the camera is optional.
I figured I’d jump in. I own a 2017 86. Bought it new in 2017, and I have 64k miles. Overall, the car is great. I personally prefer the “lower rent” interior of this car, as I don’t need an engineering degree to operate the climate control or the stereo system. The car also gets about 40mpg if you cruise on the highway. Not a bad little car. Fun when you want it, gas saver when you need it.
You can tell all the money went to the driving dynamics because the interior looks as if it was just thrown together with no plan or development money. From the aftermarket infotainment to the previous generation Toyota Yaris climate control knobs. But I guess you can forget about that since it's fun to drive. It was like I was watching Sam Haymart all over again.
That's what the BRZ is for. It has more equipment. I think Toyota doesn't want to sell a fully loaded one in America because it will eat the BRZ sales. Stupid really because I prefer the 86.
Actually the simplicity makes it timeless and clean. The interior design doesn't look clustered or outdated. It's just simple and clean. Also there are small details in the car that are actually pleasant if you've owned it for a while. For example, the knitting on the steering wheel is perfect, the arm rest is fairly comfortable, and the seat is driver-orientated. After a while, you begin to appreciate small things that you never notice before. Everything is practical and nothing is useless in this car.
im watching this waaaaaaay too serious, but then you said "and the backseats are still on the tiny side, really reserved for just, uhm, your friends with no legs" really got me. good one right there. anyways, I think this is waaaay better looking than the new brz, the only downside is the interior accessories. yes I get it, people buy this for the feel and the way it drives. But hey, it's still a good option to have.
more like a updated frs. I have a FRS and I drive the new 86 every so often ( I work for a Toyota Dealership). The final drive is a little bit shorter and the exhaust and intake is different. the driving experience is improved but that's about it.
if you actually wanna get technical the FR-S was a GT86 with a badge change, now Toyota has decided to put the correct badges on the damn car, because of course the US market always robs us of shit like that, but I'm glad Toyota finally did something right now-a-days
Kromeification it does sound louder and the tone is very nice. no rasp either. it could be a bit annoying for long highway trips because the final gear is 4.3 vs 4 in the previous year. but the sound and the improved acceleration makes it more fun on the exit of the corner
Oh, thanks! I'm happy to hear it's a bit louder but still smooth sounding without all the rasp. I bet the shorter final drive improves its acceleration out of corners nicely as well! I might get one of these with the TRD exhaust installed from the factory, and maybe the TRD lowering springs...
Ended up going with the Miata over an 86... built quality and focus on the driver just seemed significantly better... 86 was too plasticky while I was able to obtain a GT Miata for $26k out the door without trade in, tag transfer, etc. As advertised, the Miata just put a smile on my face :-)
I've only been driving for half a year and just got my red p plates and I've been driving a gen 3 Holden barina, I got used to the feel of it. I've been looking at rwd coupes for ages and saw the 86 twins and fell in love, on the internet. Then today I went down to Toyota and actually sat inside a 2016 gts 86 and its was fucking amazing, everything about it is perfect, the throws into gears were so short, crisp and clean, even into reverse. It has 106 more hp than my barina so it's plenty quick for me, only thing I don't like about it is it has back seats, I want to rip them out but it looks nice with them. The seats are awesome, the shifter and handbrake are close to the wheel. The interior is far cleaner and more comfortable and compact than the barina I'm in love. Plus it runs the same engine as a wrx so you can run the same turbo for more power, I think when I do decide to upgrade the power though I'll aim for 500 horses, aaand that'll mean I'll need to replace the engine block and a few other bits and bobs
My dream car since I was 18. Just finished college and I'm 23. Hope I'll find a better job to be able to purchase this gem before they stop producing them.
omg!! me too.. im 18 and this my dream car but i will coise the subaru brz.. and now I'm working in my father's company and also attend college.. i hope so we are dream come true.. sorry bad inglish xD
Toyota did the head unit area right, where Subaru added that piano gloss black, toyota kept it uniform with the rest of the dashboard. However, the head unit itself sucks. Also, I feel like both the Subaru and the Toyota fronts look great.
The pianoblack matches with the glossyness of the headunit in the BRZ which looks more luxurious in my opinion, compared to the cheap-looking "granlux" material in the 86. The shiny headunit just doesn't look right with the granlux material.
+iHeart GT86 Nobody said you need to have a luxury car for a decent head unit. Toyota Entune, Chevrolet Mylink, Kia Uvo, Volkswagen MIB, and Ford SYNC are all very good systems. Fujitsu Ten, not so much.
I remember when I first immigrate here in 90, my young sister bought for me Toyota SR5 hatch back and 5 speed manual transmission. Wow it was fantastic car for me at that time. Engine T100 seemed to last ever. This was used with 75K in odometer I rode until 7 year later and odo coming 250K then for a junk car 150 dollars. Toyota makes manual transmission is so great. Swear to god I did not know this company still keep manual transmission until I watch this video. By a few of cars I rode until I bought Nissan SR in 17. CVT transmission is so great too. I am thinking maybe next year I will buy 86 back again with manual T......Love it....(cop's speeding ticket watch out too...lol)
Actually if your car is equipped with a push button start and the key dies you can hold the key directly up to the push button and press the start button to start the vehicle. Toyota and Lexus at least.
imdevonur it'd be a great way for Toyota to go retro with well known names just like the american car companies have with their sports cars, the supra name is coming back and long ago the celica was a rwd coupe just like the gt86
YES, they NEED to do this, the celica is my favorite car, and we recently sold mine a few months ago, so sad ;-; it was an amazing car and I really hope they bring it back some way
Love the stance and the TRD wheels on the Toyota model ! That Toyota badge looks right at home on a sports coupe... reminds me of the god ol days when Toyota had a tons of great driving cars in their lineup. I hope this car is a start to that return !
The 17 86 special edition does have keyless entry/start as well as a matching spoiler to the BRZ. The 86 also has the heated leather seats. It looks like your driving the base model and not the special.
I went full time doing Redline in July. It's why you've seen improved content in addition to more consistent uploads. It also allows me to travel to more of these media drives that manufactures keep inviting me too. In the past, I had to turn a lot of them down because of a 9-5 day job. -Sofyan
Hey keep it up! You're living the dream minus the fact that you live on the east coast. The car manufacturers are all on the west coast, specifcally Southern California. If you ever make it to Hawaii reach out! As a new to me (used) FR-S owner the question is would you say that the new car is worthy upgrade to the old one?
Thank you! One day, I hope to end up in Southern California, it'll be hard to leave the East Coast but it's time for a change. So asking if you should upgrade to the refreshed model from your old one depends on a lot of factors. The most important answer is if you still have a lien on your new [used] FR-S and if so, how much you are paying monthly. If yours is paid off, then I see little reason to make the upgrade. However, if you could upgrade to the 2017 and not increase your payment by some ridiculous amount, it could be worth the jump. That is, unless you completely love the changes on the new one and are willing to spend the extra money to get them. It really depends on what year yours is, how many miles are on it, and how much you really want the 2017 model. Hope that helps :)
Thanks! What did you do for your 9-5 previously? Change is good! Looking forward to your video or even a reaction video to the Civic Type R. Maybe a new segment for your repertoire.
I started out of college working as an Internet Sales Manager at several car dealerships, started at Honda, then Ford, and finally at a Nissan and Acura dealership. Did that for a total of 4 years before going to work for Zipcar in their corporate office as a fleet coordinator, which I did for a year. Took me 5 years to do Redline full time, but it certainly is a dream come true! Expect a video on the new Civic hatch in November.
Subbed for the Sonys and proper sports car appreciation! The rest of the review has proven my guess. Comprehensive insights for people how enjoy driving not showing off. Keep it up!
Unless you driven a 250whp frs, i wouldn't be talking. I spun out so many times pushing that little on these light cars. This car shouldn't be quicker than an sti 24k. I see so much accidents happening if these cars came out with 240hp lol
This 86 seems more honest than the BRZ, especially the Limited. Hope Toyota does a performance package version like the BRZ yellow edition. Will be a hard choice between this and the MX-5 RF.
Everytime I see one of these on the road I think that is the slowest fasted looking car in production. That extra 5hp adds to the "visceral feel" I'm sure.
It's kinda hard to believe that my brother wants this as his new car despite the expenses, and his '95 Passport is still running well and is very reliable.
I like that they've made the Toyota version with cheaper options. I've never been a fan of added bells and whistles that are just more things to eventually stop working. No sat radio, dual climate control or fancy red stitching? No problem!
The Nissan Z/Fairlady line was never intended to compete in that class of car. Nissan needs a new Z, but more importantly, they need to revive the S chassis imo, it's about time we get another Silvia.
Shaun DYST a new BRZ and a s2000 are pretty similar acceleration wise especially when you factor in you are going to have a ten year old motor with carbon build up on a s2000.
To "86"; "86'd" - To get rid of. A slang term that is used in the American popular culture as a verb to mean throw away , discontinue or get rid of. How appropriate.
I'm getting a 2017 base model 86 in white (Halo) in a couple of weeks. Local dealers didn't have one, so it is being brought in from out of state. I wanted a basic sports car, not into luxury. I considered the base Camaro, Mustang, and Challenger, because I am an American car fan, and I like their styling better. But I've heard about so many problems with them that I decided to go with the 86. It kind of reminds me of my 77 Datsun 280Z I had decades ago, though I find it a little overstyled. I like simple. I live in Phoenix, AZ, so white was the only possible color choice, the sun here destroys everything else. I hope the A/C works great. I chose the manual because this is going to be a fun car. I already have a drop dead boring 4 door FWD automatic trans sedan for transportation. The 86 will mostly be a weekend car.
Not gonna lie, it just looks like someone punched the happy little BRZ in the mouth, and now it has a fat lip. Too bad they had to make it ugly, seems like the BRZ is gonna be bringing in the bigger end of the stick for buyers...
I want this car but no sunroof :( might be a deal breaker. I know what you are thinking "sunroof" is not that great of an option. To which I reply ''you are wrong''. The first thing I do after starting my car is open the sunroof. Rain, snow, summer, winter, etc. Slight amount of fresh airflow with almost no added noise.
My previous car was 2013 fr-s manual and now I own 2015 bmw 328i. I had great times with frs but only my complaints was the lack of power. So Im looking forward to 2018 370z manual for my next car. But i should consider buying 86 again because of this video. Thanks for nice video.
HodsBroo Well, as the rumor mill says. It's going to be based on the 86 Platform. Idk if it's going to be FWD or RWD but, that's what the rumors has it.
you are somewhat geeky but you have the best reviews online and I discovered some cars I would have never tried based on your accurate feedback! namely the infinity g... problem with me is I go THROUGH cars and they never last for me...thNks for doing what you do
I've test drove a bunch. It wouldn't be my go to car, but for under 30 grand you get a pretty good bargain for the stock power and looks. And it's still better than these cheap ass American muscle cars that are going out of date. As far as the brakes, you can always replace the rotors for some decent ceramic ones for like 3-400 dollars, if you want.
Jc C you need to turn off trac control and put it on M and sport mode to really open that tranny up. Shifts pretty darn good and I'm coming from driving a manual celica, MK3 Supra and Civic si.
Lol if the automatic sucks well that means the LFA, AMG-GT and GTR sucks as well? Be glad we have choices and options no need to hate on the autos im sure it's just as damn fun to drive and can probably school you on the track because it's in the driver that counts. So tired of you wanna be close minded purist keyboard warriors.
Sofyan, you seemed to gush more over the 86 than the revised BRZ. Did you prefer the 86 just because of the TRD exhaust, or was it because of the road? Do the two cars handle roughly the same way? Thanks man. Great work as always!
The exhaust and curvy roads certainly made for a more enjoyable time behind the wheel, both cars do feel roughly the same, but it goes to show you how little modifications can be made to this chassis and yield such large improvements in the overall experience :)
Because he wasn't going for a 0-60 Second time. He doesn't even go near the redline in 2nd. He was just going for an Acceleration Run which is completely different. The car is a under 7 second car.
Everytime I hear Honda I always remember that video where a bunch od hondas are passing by and some guy is going "HMMMMM IM GAYYYY" in the background. LMFAO
Those cars remind me a lot of the 240z I owned during college. Affordable and very fun. Sure would be nice if they put something like the inline 6 JZ motor in it.
Sofyan, I have two questions - first, I've driven the FRS and while it was fun, after a while the stiff ride just gave me a sore back, does the MX-5 have a more comfortable ride quality? I live in a city with not mediocre roads. Second question: At 6 ft 1 inch tall, I fit pretty comfortably in the FRS, would I be able to comfortably drive the MX-5?
The Miata definitely rides much better versus the twins, I honestly don't notice the body lean in normal driving most of the time. Only really shows up when going fast and through some hard corners. My significant other is 6' tall and he fits in the driver side just fine. He says its a bit cramped feeling with the top up, but he's good for a couple hours before he starts feeling fatigued. If you plan to regularly take your Miata on long 3+ road trips, you may want something larger, but if not, you should be just fine in the ND. -Sofyan
Redline Reviews Thanks for the response. I'm going to wait for the MX-5 retractable fastback to come out, it looks gorgeous. I just hope I can fit in that, if so, that may be my new daily driver.
This car is cool until you get smoked by a mini van or a family sedan. It's embarrassing because l've been in the passenger seat when literary a soccer mom with kids goes flying by when my friend is full throttle and in the power band.
vetis24 he thought about force induction, but after seeing other people's experiences it didn't really make sense. It's fun on canyon roads we went up HW 18 to big bear in it, but high altitude makes the car feel very slow.
***** yeah cause the shit torque on it lol, a nice ecu tune will take out the torque dip. this car is a platform car meant to be worked on, thats why its slow. the engine has lots of potential. plus it sits lower than a porsche.
These cars are so addictive. My 2018 brz has me going to buy milk when I have milk.
Debating on trading in my 2018 buick regal for an 86
@@connortroha2248 did you do it?
Bit like my dad, but he didn't have a gt86 and he didn't come back
Is it me or I just like turning the key?
I'm perfectly happy with the key too. Pushbutton ignition is more of a gimmick than anything
XionZ87 No it's not just you, I too, like turning the key 😁
I looove the keyless entry on my 2013.
for me I am a more physical person and turning a key is just a classic that I love
I still search for the keys when I get in!

The exhaust sounds soooo much better than the subaru
In my opinion, an aftermarket exhaust is better and a cheaper alternative, my favorite is the from Perrin exhaust.
I love the one from the "this subaru sounds incredible" video
Amazing machine !
Nathan Vonlanthen it's the same motor
It is the same engine, but it this 86 has the special TRD exhaust fitted, which is why it sounds better IMHO
The Toyota looks better, the Subaru has better features
Like dogshit bluetooth?
Am I the only one who loves to have Key rather than a remote controll for my car?
pSyk no, I would prefer a key.
I would prefer key
My push button start is great! I can turn the car on as soon as I sit. I love hearing everything warm up while I get into position with seatbelts and whatnot
I had a 2017 Mustang and although the push button start was cool at first later on I just wanted a damn key for the car lol

Sofyan, I used to not like your reviews because I thought you were very biased but you've much improved and you explain things very well. I've subbed again. Keep up the great work.
Welcome back! Thanks for giving me another shot :)
-Sofyan
Redline Reviews absolutely!
hello, great reviews. Could you do a review for the 06-08 Lexus Sc430 please?!
SOFYANS THE BEST THO
I realize this and the BRZ are about the same but as a younger 17 year old and I'm gung-ho on new technology, I love the simplicity of the 86. It's just car and man. No buttons and crap. Just a key. Like little things that I appreciate about this Toyota which also helps with reliability.
I'm going to get the automatic and you can't stop me
Some people just want to watch the world burn.
450 bhp freedom my friend
like that comment lol
M 310 lol thanks
would you elaborate more please?
why can't Nissan update the damn 370z. fuck
this, 370z doesnt need much update just an interior change
Both have lots of road noise since there is no sound insulation in the cars. Rough rides are in both too!
Owen Qian I could see it looking like the 2017 type r
I recently purchased a '16 NISMO. The interior with the NISMO package is great, especially the Recaro seats.
and the new VR motor would be great.
9:30 "really just reserved for your friends with no legs or small children" LMAO
Scion FRS has the better exterior, BRZ has the better interior.
SCION is dead.
moynul hussain Toyota. It's literally the same thing.
it's not anymore. Toyota killed scion
nicktune1219 I thought Scion was like a third party brand, like how you have mercedes, and then mercedes AMG. So I guess Toyota are murderers, lol.
It was, but these guys are being pedantic.
Oh man, you KNOW they tuned that TRD exhaust to make the FA20 sound like the good ol' 4A-GE.
Yea but do you remember when that EG6 (civic)ran you and ole girl off the road, that was an epic episode..... "cool vibration"
Yesssssssssssssssssssssss
“I look cool”
They need to bring the Trueno badges.
Or at least a Trueno and Levin Trim/Paint schemes. I still with they were i4 instead of flat4.
If they put the Trueno or Levin badge on this car it'll cost $35k or more because of the name.
It's not a trueno tho
if they did that, then they would really have to ditch that under powered boxer engine for a true high revving, inline 4 cyl.
With an optional 2jz BRO
Now the front looks like a shark, awesome :)
sadly it looks like it has braces. i wish they never added that bar on it like the brz
That’s kinda how my Corolla XSE looks in the front too. It’s a polarizing look. I personally love it.
Why would that exhaust cost $1100 when it sounds like stock? lol
Elliott Manning I don't mind the manual ac climate control though it would've been nice if they offered it as a luxury package.
That's what the BRZ is for. It has more equipment. I think Toyota doesn't want to sell a fully loaded one in America because it will eat the BRZ sales. Stupid really because I prefer the 86.
Rain S. why makes you prefer the 86 over the BRZ if the 86 and BRZ almost identical?
The interior looks like a proper Japanese sports car.
Everything is practical and nothing is useless in this car.
im watching this waaaaaaay too serious, but then you said
"and the backseats are still on the tiny side, really reserved for just, uhm, your friends with no legs"
really got me. good one right there.
anyways, I think this is waaaay better looking than the new brz, the only downside is the interior accessories.
yes I get it, people buy this for the feel and the way it drives. But hey, it's still a good option to have.
he said it's based off the frs? it is the frs with a badge change lol..
more like a updated frs.
Joshua Szeto Does the 2017 86 sound different than the 2016 or earlier FRS? You mentioned the exhaust was different...
The back is reserved for your friends with no legs. hahaha You worked that in there so smoothly haha excellent
"Reserved for your friends with no legs"😂😂
Ended up going with the Miata over an 86... built quality and focus on the driver just seemed significantly better... 86 was too plasticky while I was able to obtain a GT Miata for $26k out the door without trade in, tag transfer, etc. As advertised, the Miata just put a smile on my face :-)
I think the most important things in a car to this guy are push button start and it being a convertible
Well he’s gay sooooo....
Malform Beats i paid 29k for my mine. its halo white with toyota wing and base wheels.
When these cars are out of production, how difficult could it get when a piece stops functioning?
omg!! me too.. im 18 and this my dream car but i will coise the subaru brz.. and now I'm working in my father's company and also attend college.. i hope so we are dream come true.. sorry bad inglish xD
When that thing goes above 5k rpm it just really comes alive.
I love that noise, it made me smile so hard
brz looks better imo. toyota messed up the front imo
invisibleaznDJ agreed
Toyota did the head unit area right, where Subaru added that piano gloss black, toyota kept it uniform with the rest of the dashboard. However, the head unit itself sucks. Also, I feel like both the Subaru and the Toyota fronts look great.
i mean the manufacturers can't make the car look entirely the same.
totally agree...as usual the Toyota looks like it's melting up front lol
The pianoblack matches with the glossyness of the headunit in the BRZ which looks more luxurious in my opinion, compared to the cheap-looking "granlux" material in the 86. The shiny headunit just doesn't look right with the granlux material.
People coimplaining about power, takumi fujiwara never complained about wanting more power despite the struggle on the straight line.
Toyota needs to ditch that Fujitsu Ten head unit. Subaru is doing it, and they're adopting carplay/android auto
they should put that toyota entune
+iHeart GT86 Nobody said you need to have a luxury car for a decent head unit. Toyota Entune, Chevrolet Mylink, Kia Uvo, Volkswagen MIB, and Ford SYNC are all very good systems. Fujitsu Ten, not so much.
lol Fujitsu ten is the Entune system. shared with Lexus. and even this scion. theyre all the same, look at the UIs. starlink looks the same too
***** Whoops, meant Pioneer. :P
You can just buy a full android 7.0 android head unit for 300 dollars from aliexpress
"the back seats are really reserved for your friends with no legs" 😂
God that TRD exhaust is perfect. Not loud or ricey. I could live with that.
Master Yoda it drones on the highway
a key is never old technology. the minute that push button dies , your ass is stranded. I'll take a key for -$1000 alex
yup, and tech will be easier to hack in the future
Actually if your car is equipped with a push button start and the key dies you can hold the key directly up to the push button and press the start button to start the vehicle. Toyota and Lexus at least.
Yup I’ll stick to the frs
And plus for manuals all you to do is clutch kick it
This is under the top 5 reviews of cars that you had the most fun in.
like others have said, this should be renamed the 2017 Toyota Celica
Stephen C. Why?
imdevonur it'd be a great way for Toyota to go retro with well known names just like the american car companies have with their sports cars, the supra name is coming back and long ago the celica was a rwd coupe just like the gt86
imdevonour... Because the Toyota celica was Toyota's original cheap RWD sportscar.
TassieLorenzo Cool I didn't know that I thought they were always FWD or 4WD I was thinking the AE86 was there first RWD.
YES, they NEED to do this, the celica is my favorite car, and we recently sold mine a few months ago, so sad ;-; it was an amazing car and I really hope they bring it back some way
Dude, I love your reviews! But I especially love the fact that you're a car guy, and extremely enthusiastic!!! Great reviews, and thank you!
Sofyan do you do reviews as your primary job? Or do you work a 9-5 or do anything else?
Nice work btw! Keep it up!
Just got my 86 and LOVE IT. This video helped me decide so thank you!
I want that steering wheel on my frs
same
same haha
Are the parts interchangeable ?? The lights as well
Lovens Presume I'm 99.9% sure they are. You could probably even do a 100% 86 conversion on a FR-S if you wanted.
Subbed for the Sonys and proper sports car appreciation! The rest of the review has proven my guess. Comprehensive insights for people how enjoy driving not showing off. Keep it up!
Does anyone else want the FT86 to have more horsepower? If it had at least 240hp, it would an amazing sports car ever
slap a turbo on it and you can make over 300
you know what I want? more torque. the horsepower is fine; that 150 ft/lbs is NOT
Saben Coupland you can tune it to get more torque lol, ive seen some with more torque than horsepower
now THAT would be fun! lol
A BRZ would be nice for a fun second car but brand new too expensive.
How much is it to lease?
$450-$500 a month in Canada
yeah but used low miles sees them drop 50 percent. still a good car then and becomes more tempting...
lol, in my area a scion frs 2014 with 15k miles on it will go for 24k -_- dumb ass dealers though cause i am not forking over 24k for a used frs lmao
yeah that's why they are the stealership
Everytime I see one of these on the road I think that is the slowest fasted looking car in production. That extra 5hp adds to the "visceral feel" I'm sure.
Dang correct me if I'm wrong but are you looking directly at a script when talking because it looks like it
Nope. I never use a script, all of my reviews are unscripted.
-Sofyan
I'm not gonna complain about the power (or lack therof), instead I'm just gonna be glad that Toyota is building a RWD car again.
1100 for a TRD muffler is worth it? nah... Not when full catbacks are less than a grand.
It's kinda hard to believe that my brother wants this as his new car despite the expenses, and his '95 Passport is still running well and is very reliable.
BRZ def looks more premium and mature
In australia right now, I've seen so many people with the 86. I kind of prefer the brz. Looks more mean, the 86 looks more of a girly car. hahaha.
I like that they've made the Toyota version with cheaper options. I've never been a fan of added bells and whistles that are just more things to eventually stop working. No sat radio, dual climate control or fancy red stitching? No problem!
I would buy the BRZ if only it was fast, something closer to the 370z would be nice.
You can make it as fast if you want to spend a little $$$ on parts
Right I love the more modern looks of the BRZ/FRS but I ended up going with an S2000 because the BRZ/FRS are just slow and boring.
Love your reviews. Simple and to the point. You just earned a new suscriber.
O O O......O'Reilly 🔧🔧🔧
Tommy Siro damn it , I read it just like the commercial
alezandra97
haha I was hoping that would happen for somebody
Autoparts😂😂😂
Andrew Castro OWWW!! 😂
I hate and love everyone in this thread
"6 speed manual which is the only way you should purchase this car" FUCK YEAH!
- Great review brother.
Not gonna lie, it just looks like someone punched the happy little BRZ in the mouth, and now it has a fat lip. Too bad they had to make it ugly, seems like the BRZ is gonna be bringing in the bigger end of the stick for buyers...
i was thinking it is now a shark with braces
Either way you can still widebody it
I want this car but no sunroof :( might be a deal breaker. I know what you are thinking "sunroof" is not that great of an option. To which I reply ''you are wrong''. The first thing I do after starting my car is open the sunroof. Rain, snow, summer, winter, etc. Slight amount of fresh airflow with almost no added noise.
I loved the scion TC 🙃😭
only you did...
Brandon Bowden car was great 👍🏻
LOLOL
You aren’t the only one I still have mine it been my dream car since I was 16 I’m 22 now drives so nice love the roof
Brandon Bowden yeah and the Toyota Corolla is my dream car...
The best part was when he said back seats for friends without legs lmao 👍
Why do revamped cars ALWAYS get uglier?
My previous car was 2013 fr-s manual and now I own 2015 bmw 328i. I had great times with frs but only my complaints was the lack of power. So Im looking forward to 2018 370z manual for my next car. But i should consider buying 86 again because of this video. Thanks for nice video.
why couldn't it have a name like "Celica"
Because there's a rumor that they are bringing back the Celica
platform.
the last celica was fwd so I'm not sure that would make sense but the celica nameplate is pretty iconic
HodsBroo Well, as the rumor mill says. It's going to be based on the 86 Platform.
Idk if it's going to be FWD or RWD but, that's what the rumors has it.
i.k.r, when he turned to the back seat, it reminds me of my celica
Because the toyota GT86 is in production for 4 years already so why change the name
I wish the speedo was big rather than the revmeter. Who needs to look at their revs? You get that natural feel in no time
13:38 - 13:44 = heaven 😍
This car is just for me. All of my friends are legless!
they need a convertible version of this car
you are somewhat geeky but you have the best reviews online and I discovered some cars I would have never tried based on your accurate feedback! namely the infinity g... problem with me is I go THROUGH cars and they never last for me...thNks for doing what you do
Looks like a sporty Prius.. Sounds like one too.
If you want a sports car new under 30 grand, you can get a 370z.
true. but it's heavier and less fuel efficient, but more HP. basically the same price too +/- $500
The 370Z is a pig and it doesn't drive that good, also good luck on a trackday with those horrible brakes
Allan Alfaro
Do you even English bro?
damefaso ask your mom ;)
This is a sports car for a bachelor.....like myself. I have a Tiburon GT and this is a nice upgrade. Looking to purchase one of these next year.
manual all the way. Never get the automatic, automatic sucks
Jc C you need to turn off trac control and put it on M and sport mode to really open that tranny up. Shifts pretty darn good and I'm coming from driving a manual celica, MK3 Supra and Civic si.
sports mode just mimicks gears but your not actually shifting it with a clutch. manual is the best vehicle to drive
automatic does not suit this type of car full stop. Automatics are fine in a Mercedes sedan or in a Lincoln town car but definitely not a sports car
Toyolumpia s GTR sucks
Sofyan, you seemed to gush more over the 86 than the revised BRZ. Did you prefer the 86 just because of the TRD exhaust, or was it because of the road? Do the two cars handle roughly the same way?
Thanks man. Great work as always!
The exhaust and curvy roads certainly made for a more enjoyable time behind the wheel, both cars do feel roughly the same, but it goes to show you how little modifications can be made to this chassis and yield such large improvements in the overall experience :)
Thanks for the prompt reply. You are living the dream!
that the shittiest interior ive seen in a long time. gauges look great, but the rest looks like its from the 90s. That clock is from the 80s.
who cares? id rather have it look old and cheaper than some luxury car that drains every penny you have
***** For what it is, its an expensive cheap car. I can think of much cheaper vehicles with nicer interiors.
Casey Rodriguez i dont care for the interior. to me i think it looks better than the older frs with the red seats.
that clock is in like every Toyota ever. it's just kinda their thing. even my Scion tC has one reminiscent of it
Saben Coupland Its just sad. That clock is more than 30 years old.
14:47 I measured that 0-60ish run at 10 seconds, not quite like the 6 you mentioned. Were you flooring it?
He wasn't going for 60. It reaches 60 in just under 7 seconds.
How, if I measured 10 (from 14:47 to 14:57)?
Because he wasn't going for a 0-60 Second time. He doesn't even go near the redline in 2nd. He was just going for an Acceleration Run which is completely different.
The car is a under 7 second car.
The cool factor with this car goes away when you get smoked by a Honda Accord in a straight line
pontiacGXPfan 😂😂😂😂😂
pontiacGXPfan Then the cool factor comes back, when you destroy the Honda in the corners
The dash looks second rate after watching your BRZ test.
Gordon Clark its the same car.
It's the more basic version
Redline Reviews does your s/o fit comfortably with the top up? Or is it more just tolerable for him?
This car is cool until you get smoked by a mini van or a family sedan. It's embarrassing because l've been in the passenger seat when literary a soccer mom with kids goes flying by when my friend is full throttle and in the power band.
lol in cali canyons that minivan aint going nowhere!!! plus slap a turbo on it and you are back in business
vetis24 he thought about force induction, but after seeing other people's experiences it didn't really make sense.
Dude that is not the point of this car its meant for drifting..
Re: the drone, you can plug the sound vent under the glove box that sends extra engine noise into the cabin.
The Front Bumper looks shitty. Prefer the BRZ.
I prefer last year's front bumper.
Keemotherapy forreal. Looks like a wanna be lambo lip
jamskaterpete exactly! Like the Centanario one
VaughnJogVlog same
Excellent review. Thanks! I will look for more of your reviews....
