Us who live in dense cities with a lot of traffic, these autos are lifesavers.
I live in the heart of downtown Toronto. Right in the financial district. Our traffic is LEGENDARY.
Leaving home makes me hate myself. But once I can open it up, no regrets. I would never buy a car like this with an auto. Might as well just get a civic
@@sshah2545This isn’t the early 2000’s Automatic vs Manual is just a preference, They’ve got down how to make the car’s equal in performance.
@@jayherrera609 the auto has worse performance in this car. But it has better mpg
Either way, you don't buy this car with an Auto, period.

I never understood people's complaints about manual and traffic. I've been driving manual cars since forever and I have never had an issue. Wouldn't trade manual for anything as long as I am healthy enough I will forever drive manual. Now if your talking about tractor trucks which I also drive then I can agree with traffic issues, but a little tiny light weight car with a wimpy clutch is a cake walk in traffic.
I have a steel GR86 Premium in a manual, and I commute from where I live to downtown every day for college, and while it does suck in traffic, it became second nature to me. For anyone who is considering both I would say get what you want to drive, not because of what type of driving you will be doing, but because of what you want to drive.
So many people complaining about the automatic but does the manual have SNOW MODE??? Yeah.. I didn’t think so.
bro i have a tc manual get what you like
Both manual and auto are cool imo, it's just whatever the buyer prefers. Me, since I live in an area filled with traffic the auto is not a bad choice. Albeit, it may not be as fun as manual. It is something to consider if you live in an area with traffic. I have the 2023 GR86 trueno blue in auto, and I'm definitely glad since the traffic in my area is insane. The manual is only fun if you have no traffic.
2 months later, do you still like your gr86? anything you don't like?
@@braetonwilson4296 I still love it lol. Much more fun than the previous car I used to drive which was a super old toyota corolla. These people make it sound like auto is the end of the world and it sucks. I cannot say for manual which my mother strictly forbidden me from getting a manual car. Overall, the car is really nice, my two downsides with that car is that the engine is louder than the exhaust and Apple CarPlay crashes sometimes while you’re driving. It’s exhaust is too quiet for a sports car. Other than that I really love this car for the low price you can get it at instead of spending ludicrous amounts for a 911 instead.
I’m saving by up money to hopefully buy a 86 in Trueno blue it’s so gorgeous when I see it out in public 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
I got my GR86 in Trueno Blue 2 months ago. It zips around just fine. The Auto is well set up, SPORT mode rocks, great acceleration and engine braking. I can drive manual and did own a Toyota MR2 sports car years ago with a manual tranny. This car with twice the HP of that car does the job just fine. 228 vs 112HP.
@@daveroberts7295my mr2 is 250hp, much more fun ;)
I own an AT Premium, I've had it for a year now. The only issue I had was the infotainment system, bought a wireless android auto adapter and there went my only issue.
I’m no car enthusiast so I love everything bout this😭, soon as I save up enough money I’m definitely getting this. Thanks for the review and your honesty
All you kids with NO experience having to drive back and forth to work stuck in traffic in your daily of course wouldn't have A CLUE on why you would want an automatic. If the car was just a toy to you, then fine. Get the stick. If you drive in a lot of traffic and get the stick, you like punishing yourself and will probably be the first on the street to roadrage. Oh yes kids, that's the way it works.
Car enthusiast here. haven't drove a manual in 16 years due to no use of my legs. although theses cars are Beyond my price range I'm glad they have a automatic as a option at lease one day it has to be affordable. I have never driven with paddle shifters. But I bet it's more thrilling then my 8th gen civic. Lol
Coming from a manual owner that traded in for an auto, you didn’t use the auto properly. Too many reviews like this where they just drive it around the block and say “it sucks”. The beauty of the auto 86 is that it is comfortable and calmer to drive on public roads compared to the manual but becomes a fiery mad man on track. Better/faster than the manual in fact! So unless you take an auto on track or drive it properly in manual mode, your review is pretty pointless….
My man 💪🏻
Sports Mode and lets go
I have fallen in love with this car and now am obsessing over owning one 😂 keep it up and do another vid when they release the performance pack for the 24’ models
They’re great cars but have really bad luck unfortunately. I had a lifted truck back into mine and totaled it. The one draw back is the trunk and space. Also, the interior feels really cheap for the price.
@@batreview9600damn man I’m so sorry to hear that :/ did your insurance give you a decent amount of money at least to get another car? Did you buy another GR86 or did you decide to go with something else
Paid deposit 500 for this trueno blue 2024 MT.
Great video! (Just like the rest of your videos!) Been waiting for a review on a automatic version. Anyway to do a review on a automatic BRZ in the future?
I have an handicap to my legs. The auto together with everything else that car has is great, relaxing and performing. Anyway, I did not chose it and snapped the last of the last in Belgium. She's black. I thought I'd hate it. I do love it. That debate and pontifications of yours is sterile.
i have scion frs 2015 automatic, i love it. i would never get manual. best car in the world. i can do anything with this car.
Manual fanboys never think about driving in Traffic. Tried driving a manual before in LA. Worst experience in my life. Drove my friend's Auto 2016 FRS was a lot of fun while not being a giant pain in the ass.
I appreciate you going to detail about the automatic version of this car and the pros and cons because I am in that crowd of people that don't know how to drive a manual it don't want a manual car for whatever the reason may be. I have a Fiat 124 Spider abarth automatic and I have been told I made a mistake getting it but you know what I've been having a blast drive with the automatic because it's not that bad.
Have her to get rid of it so I was looking at the Toyota gr86 automatic version so I'm glad you wanted the detail about it I don't think it's going to be that bad of an experience the look looks great the interior is fine the driving part doesn't look bad at all so thank you for going to the detail to take the time
What about for disabled drivers who can only use an auto (with push pull hand controls for pedals)? Surely if you drive the auto but constantly manually shift with the paddles then would this still be worth considering?
I'm getting my 2024 Trueno edition next week!! Red with the auto that my wife wanted.
6:05 but Miata is alway the answer! 😜 well… for me it was the Fiata. Also known as the fiat 124 spider abarth. I love that car.
I’m in NYC there’s no way I’m buying a manual, this on the other hand might be a great choice since I plan on getting rid of my 2017 Mx-5 RF Club soon, I’m at 89k miles and wanna get rid of it before I hit 100k
Have test driven the BRZ auto, was the most fun auto I have ever driven, epic car. The manual will be better but if you are doing city driving this is a brilliant car still.
You clearly don't know how to drive with paddle shifters...
Hi Ben, Why you stopped showing the window sticker?
Some cars don’t have them in it
The auto is after in the GR86 and the Supra not even close, less engaging yes, less fun yes. In fact you cant point any new car that offers the manual that the non CVT automatic isn’t faster (0-60 and quarter mile).
Thanks for the video!! Legroom in the back would not be a problem for my passengers I'm 5'7 my wife is 5'4 !! I really like the car!! To me that's all that matters!! Also the price!! LOL 😅😂😂😂👌❣️❣️😍👍👍👍
Do they already have the 2024 on sale? I keep seeing 2023 models.
My thoughts exactly, this guy might be a time traveler
This is a 2023.
idk how to drive manual... i want to learn but i dont want to learn on this.. to scared to break it
I own 2023. Automatic BRZ
Is this a 24 or 23 year model?
This is a 23.
Nice
I think you can fit 3 people
I personally, prefer this gear setting than manual. the only down side is not the 1-6 gear ratio, its the final drive gear set ratio. My perfect choice whould be AT gear settings with a 4.56/4.33 FD setting.
I chose Automatic over manual. It's 2024. Technology has evolved. Ferraris dont come in manuals. Humans can never match computers when it comes to efficiently shift gear. Automatic is the future.
This is a good point.
Is it easy to change tye motor oil
Yes. There is a door in the bottom shield. The oil filter is on top of the engine.
I'm not really into to sporty cars but I like this one.
Also why even bother with a useless backseat? It would make more sense to omit them and have more trunk space
You can always fold them down or remove them. I’d rather have rear seats
@@SF.Automotive Good to know. Thank you
I could be wrong here, but I think they chose to add backseats due to the fact that it would lower the insurance costs even though it has barely any leg room, it can help with insurance costs. Another thing is, the rear seats really aren't as bad as the car reviewers say it is. I have one and I can fit my friends in the back seat just fine. For height, they are around 5'5 - 6'0, so the backseat isn't a huge problem seating-wise. Most of the time, I drive with the seats folded down since I am not driving with more than one person.
@aletta4lyfe916 Thank you for your feedback. I was unaware that backseat could have an impact on insurance costs
aletta you're right! it does help reduce insurance costs!!
I had a 2022 GR86 auto I liked the way it drove but the USB port to connect to your phone for Apple CarPlay was very bad. It kept going in and out. Sadly she died from a lifted truck backing into her in the parking lot. I miss her a lot :(
Totaled it?
What?☠️
It’s the coolest looking car out there I’d argue it looks better than a Supra. Manual is a must when buying these.
Mike you’re such a totota fan boy 😂.
Is this actually a 2024 model year?? Seems like a 2023...
You are correct, it's a 2023. Lying in the title to make it seem less stale, not a fan. Just be honest, if it's a 2023 say so, I don't care how similar it is to what the 2024 will be.
@@edwardmclean5373 yeah so since I made that comment, Toyota and Subaru announced everything new with the '24 cars. Basically, Adaptive Cruise Control is coming to the manual cars, and with that probably parking sensors if you care, and importantly a performance package that includes better brakes and suspensions.
I feel like all car dealerships in America should be honest and take $10,000 off the brand new automatic because it's 50% slower. The engine is useless. You're only paying for the looks. The honest good thing to do is make the automatic at least $10,000 cheaper especially because they're not selling
Swapping to a 4.3 final drive makes autos just as fast as the manual
Legit cuts about 0.5 seconds off the 0-60
i cant even drive manual lol im taking that auto
sports cars I always go with manual, trucks and cars I do automatic.
I live in Phoenix, very dense traffic most days so I opted for the auto (:
How did you drive a 2024 GR86 back in July 2023?
Toyota hasn't even announced the standard 2024 GR86, or updated their website for the 2024 model and it's 1/2/2024.
Maybe you should stop talking out of your ass & admit this car is a 2023 GR86...
That with an automatic, is like Camaro with a 6 cylinder
Yeah...Miss!
Ok . . .They have the manual option for a reason.. . Just get that one. . .
Please slow down when you speak so I can understand you better. It sounds like you are in a hurry.
OK, noted. It sucks. LMAO...Cheers
Why do they even offer an auto? That's like bringing out A1 at your favorite steak house. The guy didn't even "DRIVE" the auto...
I will take your word on the amount the automatic sucks. I'm someone who probably will never learn to drive manual.
Automatic pass for sure! I own a 2023 limited BRZ manual and love it! Defeats the purpose if you don't get manual!
