New engine cover... is this the new B58TU2 (Gen 3)?
No, it has the same powertrain found in the X5, which is why it has a different coverfrom previous years. Check the cover on the X5 for and you will see they are the same. This engine alone produces 375 hp, with the motor contributing an additional 11 hp and, more notably, 29 more ft-lbs of torque, bringing the total to 398 ft-lbs. This enhancement primarily improves off-the-line performance and significantly reduces turbo lag. I would imagine that the B48 engine in 30i variants will receive a boost to 266 hp and 324 ft-lbs, as it essentially uses the same system now.
@@Demoxx1 so this is still the B58TU (gen 2)? Seems like they did something with the factory tune to slightly modify power. I wonder when the gen 3 B58TU2 will make its way into MX40i series cars
@@AgentExhale it has been tuned quiet a bit compred to others. Id say it has slightly less top end now. Maybe the hybrid sustem replaces the top end? Anyway did some digging and i beilive the engine code is B58B30M2. The engine code in the older mx40i variants is this: B58B30O1. Oddly enough the older one makes torque earlier. So makes me wonder why they choose the other one.

If only they made them smaller and lighter each time. The power must go up to overcome the weight gain.

@@AntLive29 No, it is not small. An E36 BMW is small and an E30 is downright tiny. Many cars are bloated and overweight. The opposite of sporty.
