Thanks so much for the sound test!
So thorough, definitely the best review and overview on this keyboard. I’m gettin this and the mx lift instead of the new mx mechanical and mx 3s. The mechanical is too loud and the lift is even more quiet than the new quiet 3s.
Nice! I would like to try the Lift as well. Let me know how you like it! Thanks for the comment!
it's an excellet ergonomic keyboards compared to what's on the market - wishlist for next gen:
1. wired option (ideally can do bluetooth/logi dongle or wired) some applications (see security) require wired
2. option without numpad / keypad (takes less space)
Keep up the nice vids!
Mine just arrived yesterday, as a replacement from the Microsoft ergonomic (not the new one, the large older one) which I had for 4 years or so. That was like my 5th one of those over the decades, and I loved it. This new Logitech one though, I really think that even for double the money, it was a good buy. It's taking a little bit to get used to the slightly different layout, but my typing speed is already back up to my normal 60+ wpm.
When my MS started acting funky, I swapped to a wireless Logitech standard layout that I use when composing/playing music, as the MS one was wired and my music keyboards and guitar rig is a fair distance away from my computer. However, with the standard flat and straight layout, for me, at least, is hard to type on.
I imagine I'd get used to it again, as after all I learned on a manual typewriter (for you kids, it's like a keyboard and printer all in one. Heavy, and rather unwieldly; they didn't have modern electronics back then...yeah, I'm old) but I like the ergonomic keyboards. I think that this new Logitech is far superior to my older MS ergo kbd. Way quieter, and lighter both in weight and in touch needed to actuate the keys. And the cherry on top is that it's wireless!
🤣 good'ol typewriters. This might peak your interest if ever your feeling old-school: amzn.to/3uiSFRQ I don't think there is and ergonomic version however🤣. I'd definetly like to try it one day. Thanks for the comment! Enjoy your Ergo
Thank you, it's was very useful with the you answering the question, NEW FOLLOWER!!
Very informative and excellent review!
Thanks for the comment!
Mine is totally silent and I really like it! This is not my first ergonomic keyboard.
Can you please a detailed video of customization of keys using logi options software. What all keys can be customized (eg caps lock can it be remapped to something else). What keys can be changed at application level, can they map keyboard shortcuts or macros?
I've got this Logitech K860 about 4 days ago, and there is NO DOCUMENTATION about how to use or set up the features? It automatically linked my logitech mouse, but I still cannot figure out how to get the Flow to work and pair it to my iPad or iPhone or laptop. Can you give a tutorial on that?
If I cannot get it to work, I'm going back to my old Microsoft Sculpt....
Hi :) I own this keyboard and love it! However, I do think it is kinda dark and bland :( I was hoping for them to have a lighter color or something but it only came in black. Do you know if it is possible to switch out the key caps if I was considering changing them? Is this even possible?
Thank you for your review. Fantastic job. I have a question, does the logitech Keyboard have a dedicated Windows shortcut key, that is present on most keyboards?
I believe that would be the Start key and yes, the K860 has a start key
@@CoreyStaden awesome, thank you
Anyone who hits space with an Index Finger should not be talking about keyboards.
Can it be opened with a screw driver or is it clipped shut risking breaking it to open it and clean it should a spill clear?
Great video, thanks! Might be a dumb question, but how on earth do I access the numerical keyboard? There is no num/lock key that I can find.
Hi Sigrid. thanks for the comment! Could you provide more information on the issue? What do you mean by access? Are the buttons not working?
Are the function keys such as F4 and F5 users functionalities by default or do you have to press an extra button to use them? For example, on the Jelly comb ergonomic keyboard, you have to press the function key to use F5 to refresh.
You do not have to hit FN. They can also be programmed with Logitech Options software. Thanks for the comment!
Very good content! tks
Thanks for the comment. Much appreciated!
I got this keyboard a couple of months ago. It appears the question mark button stopped working recently. Im not sure if it happened during a patch or an update, or is simply a media function that I accidentally got myself on, but do you know how I can fix it
I've just got the K860 keyboard, and there are two things I don't like:
Your left wrist falls on the left side because the handrest is too short and the the keyboard is too asymmetrical, too off-centered.
The key edges are too sharp, I'd prefer something softer.
Thank you for your review. I just got one and I'm trying to capture my screen on my mac and the sft+cmd+4 does not work. How can I print my screen?
Can one the buttons at the bottom of keyboard be reprogammed as a Menu Key? (not Windows start but Right click of mouse)
can you reprogram one of the space buttons as backspace?
hello! how do you use the clear button instead of the numlock key above number 7 on the logitech K860?
Nice review. Just bought an MX Keys that I will try out. Shame the K860 doesn’t have a backlight. Any idea when Logitech will launch the successor to the K860?
Yes I wish it had a backlight also. Id assume the curvature makes it quite difficult to implement. Not sure when they will refresh this model because it is so good, only thing to add would be a backlight haha
@@CoreyStaden its been 2 years in the market, no updates still. Can you suggest me any other ergo keyboard in the same price?
I've used this for a couple of years, and now the middle key to select which laptop gets the keystrokes is blinking. How do I fix this?
Also, I notice a circular array of buttons on the jellycomb keyboard. are those arrow keys?
I thought the Unifying transceivers were one device per dongle.
I looked it up. Each Unifying device can connect to only one dongle at a time, but each dongle can connect to up to 6 devices.
Further research: Lightspeed is one device per dongle. I got confused.
How light are the keys? ie how much pressure do you have to put into pressing them? I have golfer's elbow on my right arm wich makes my right hand in screeching pain after a few hours of typing. My notebook keys are not ergonomic, but they need almost no pressure to get them pressed.
I wonder about the pressure on this keyboard
The keys are closer to laptop lightness then they are traditional mechanical/chicklet style keys. Not much pressure required to type on this keyboard in my opinion, but I don't have your condition.. let me know if there is anything else I can assist with! Thanks for the comment
I am very curious about what the actual shortcut keys are more so does. It have cut copy paste and if not. How easy is it to program to where it's a one button touch and not half to use function
How you torn off the the multifunction in the F keys. I use F2 a lot and o not like to have tor press the fn key to use the F2 key. Thanks
Thanks for the video! One question I did not see addressed, how do you 'printscreen' without the button? :)
There is a printscreen button. If it doesn't work for you, try these recommendations. answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/print-screen-button-doesnt-work-all-of-a-sudden/76a05911-c4e3-43d4-b592-625bfb6f6025
How to do a "screen shot" of typed items or pics using the Logitech Ergo K860 keyboard? (Currently unable to get the usual Windows 10 "Ctl + Alt + S" to enable the "screenshot" funciton to work [despite heeding the "fn + P" instructions to activate Microsoft features].)
This seems like a really simple question... but when I'm using the calculator the clear button doesn't seem to do anything? The button itself works because if I hold it down it seems to work just fine as a number lock, which is its second function.
Is there a back space key feature for the numeric keypad?
Random times, when i'm typing, no matter what letter I press, it will insert another letter at the beginning and it won't type normally. I have to close out or refresh the browser, then reopen it to fix it. I don't have Sticky Keys on or anything. Could you do a video on how to open up the keyboard to clean it out? Keys may need to be cleaned, and the rubber thing could need to be clean as well.
Is possible disable the windows lock button? ( above "- " numbers keypad )?
Thank you for the video. How would we take a screenshot?
Do you know what key to use to clear a screen?
I've been using the Microsoft sculpt keyboard for a few years, how do you think it would stack up to the K860?
I haven't used it but I think it looks like a nice keyboard at a more affordable price. I do appreciate how the numeric keyboard is separate, I would put it on the right side of my mouse for better mousing ergonomics.
I love this keyboard, used it for years. One issue, the numlock turns off from time to time and I can never remember how to turn it back on - the toggle on the back is always on green....
I'm having an issue with some functions not working on the keyboard. I have a Macbook Pro, and I do a screen capture a lot, but I always have to open my computer to do that. Is there a workaround for that? Also, the calculator button doesn't work. It never has, and I bought it new. Am I missing something?
Download Logi Options. You can customize accordingly.
Thank you for your presentation on this keyboard. My question is there a site where I can find a "map" of the function keys and what they do.
I think you can get it in logi options+ app. And even change it
traded for this Logitech because my Microsoft ergonomic because lettering had worn off multiple keys. Got this for my iMac desktop. Looking for a downloadable manual for this K860. Any help as to where? Also - confused as to why the command and option key functions seem to be reversed. They are in the same places as on my Macbook Air, but on this keyboard they do the opposite things. Do I need to do something to tell the keyboard is paired with a Mac? I am using the USB dongle directly into the iMac. Thanks in advance!
Hi there, sorry for the late reply. Here is a link to logitech's page with the k860 info you require. support.logi.com/hc/en-ca/articles/360041797553-Getting-Started-ERGO-K860-Split-Ergonomic-Keyboard Also on the page is a link for Logitech Option's software. You can download the software and use it to configure the keys to your liking 👍. Hope that helps. Thanks for the comment. Don't forget to subscribe 😉
Thank you for good FAQ, I have always problems with printed keyboards by Logitech or whatever manufacturer, I just bought R-Go split keyboard and in one week of use letter J is already looking signs of wear, I think it will vanish in couple months or year.
Hey, do u know how to clean the keyboard?
i have a mac and i cannot figure out how to use this keyboard to screenshot. I have tried shift+command+4 which was what I used with my old keyboard but this doesn't do anything. I tried google and nothing worked. Help
I just purchased this keyboard and I don't understand how to use the F keys. I'm unable to figure out how to use the print screen keys. I have petite hands so this keyboard doesn't require me to stretch my fingers to reach the keys as other ergo keyboards. Thank you for the review.
Have you compared this keyboard with the Windows Sculp? I'm trying to decide which one out of the two.
I haven't compared the two you mentioned. I ended up comparing the K860 vs KE 68 (Jelly Comb): ruclips.net/video/L7p0Rir2xYk/видео.html Thanks for the comment! Also, here is a link for an article I found comparing the two you mentioned:designreviews.com/2020/08/24/design-review-logitech-ergo-k860-vs-microsoft-sculpt-ergonomic-keyboard/
What choyce have you done Daryl?
How do you screenshot from this keyboard?
Anyone knows how to assign in mac a backspace on the left spacebar?
so how do you use the clear button or activate it as it has clear | lock on it? thought i’d ask…
DL Logi Options software to remap the keys. 👍
A switch for turning on/off a keyboard is very handy for people with cats 🐈😺
Very true! I have a cat as well, she's a bit too old to be jumping up on the desk tho. Thanks for the comment!
Awesome informative video, thx :) does this keyboard require driver software to work? and will it work with a debian PC?
Hi, I have reached out to logitech 3 weeks ago and they have yet to respond with an answer. I can say you don't need a driver but it is recommended to access full features of the keyboard. As for the Debian, still waiting a response.. sorry for the delay.
@@CoreyStaden Thank you so much for the effort, don't worry about it, I asked because I was looking at it as a Christmas present for my brother (who is a programmer who suffers with RSI) and I got one anyway because it was available second hand, and tried it with my PC first (also a linux install) and it seemed to work fine with no drivers so I gave it to him. He's happy so far, so the answer to my own questions are as follows:
no it doesn't require a driver, but to use Bluetooth it requires a motherboard with Bluetooth compatibility
Yes it works with linux (tested on Mint, Ubuntu and Debian)The USB dongal is just standard USB protocol so it will work with any USB compatible PC
@@MadHalflingInventor thanks for sharing the information! What a great gift idea👌
@@CoreyStaden No problem :)
I had problems, without the downloaded sw I could not use it with USB receiver... I tried many given ways - given in the box and given on the official website. Additionally they told different ways. So first I was very angry. My rapoo four ways mouse was ok for the first try after inserting the dongle... But the good news is: It can work from the next room trough closed door well with the USB dongle. The distance is about 4m.
How do you do key repair?
I have this keyboard. I wish it had came with kickstand on the back bottom, instead of the front bottom. I had to create my own using bottle caps. . lol
Haha. It's sad you have to use bottle caps to fix a $150 keyboard lol
@@CoreyStaden lol yep. If i could show you a picture, I would. . lol
I have one of these keyboards, and the spacebar has stopped working. I removed the key and it s clean below. Does anyone have any suggestion on how I can fix it
Just bought mine and can't figure out if there is a Windows key so I can put one window on the left side of my monitor and another window on the right side.
where is the number lock key on the keyboard?
How do you backslash on this keyboard, cant find any documentation anywhere?
Hi Alex, the backslash is located right above the Enter key. Thanks for the comment! Let me know if there is anything else I can assist with.
mine didnt come with a unifying receiver
When pc or laptop goes to sleep mode, this keyboard and mouse are not responding to wakeup them. Kindly suggest the troubleshoot.
Hi Suhaib, to identify if the K860 is causing the issue, please try another keyboard. If problem persists, it's likely a setting with your computer/laptop I'd recommend diving into your computer's sleep/power saving mode settings. Typically when my peripherals start acting up, a computer software update usually fixes the issue. Also, try switching between Bluetooth connection and USB connection. I hope that helps.
Surprised no "questions" about the auto-off timeout (spoiler alert, it's stupidly short) or how long it can take to reconnect (another spoiler, it can often take quite a few seconds...at which point it will spray your computer all at once with all the keystrokes you pounded into it trying to wake it up).
This keyboard would be amazing...if it had a wired option. The wireless setup is an annoying PITA that can't be adjusted and frequently times out just because you dared use the mouse for a moment and it went to sleep.
I love/hate this thing. It's the most ergonomic, comfortable keyboard I've used...and yet the horrible wireless setup is beyond frustrating to work around.
Can you tell me how to clean the foam padded part?
Water and a microfibre cloth
does ergo k860 support Ubuntu?
How can I type emojis on this keyboard?
I'm used to the " regular" keyboards...
I bought one at Best Buy and tried to sync it up with my Ipad, and after about an hour of pulling my hair out I finally realized that the batteries were dead on arrival. Put two fresh new ones in and got it working in about 2 minutes via bluetooth. Duh …
Thank you! My K860 "died" but I learned from your video that there's an on/off switch!
Glad I can be of service!!
How do you disable the lock key (top right corner of keyboard)?
Try the Logitech Options software. This is where keys can be remapped.
@@CoreyStaden Thank you.
I apparently locked my number board. How do unlock it. Thank you.
Is there a pause / break button on the keyboard? No where to be found
Where is the number lock button located
Does the unifying dongle works without installing Logitech software?
@Tom Golden yes
Yes it does. Thanks for the comment!
I bought Ergo K860 and my keyboard doesn't work without unifying software. I have same issue with my Mx Master 2s too. I tried on my m1 mac pro and another windows laptop. Both are same.
Is it same on you too?
@@erhn123 no problems here with the same gear.
16. Can I connect only using bluetooth without unified receiver?
Yes you can
Great video. Thanks! So I'm used the command P feature on my macbook air but when I'm doing the same on the logitech keyboard it is simply giving me the pie symbol?? π Help... Also, I"m so curious what is the calculator button supposed to do lol I immediately pressed it when you said you loved it but nothing fantastic happened.
Command P is printing the current document. If it's not working as usual, try downloading the Logitech Options software and configure your keys accordingly. Same with the calculator button, it should open the calculator app. It sounds like you are using a Mac so it should work. If you are on an iPad set up then it won't work because iPad don't have calculators.
Oh Good Lord- I meant Command V - to paste (√) this is what I get instead of what I copied to paste. Apparently I have to use the opt/start key and V in order to paste on this keyboard after playing around with it. Yep I use a MacBook Air and the app does not open when I hit the calculator button (not the end of the world but I'm with you- that is kinda cool)
Are the keys as responsive as a laptop keyboard? Most ergonomic keyboards take twice the effort to press the keys and therefore slower for very busy people who type fast.
Both this type and K180 are scissor-switch keyboards.
Hi Corey, is this keyboard Mac compatible?
Yup!👍
@@CoreyStaden My MacBook Air does not have a USB to connect the keyboard dongle. And, Bluetooth cannot find it. Should I call support for help?.
Requires Mac OS 10.15 or later. Also ensure your keyboard is in bluetooth pairing mode. Try downloading Logi Options software. This might help your Macbook air find the device. If none of that works, here is the link for the setup instructions: support.logi.com/hc/en-ca/articles/360041797553-Getting-Started-ERGO-K860
It is not evident to find the ON/OFF button. Thank you
How do you clean it?
Compressed air should do the trick. Alternatively, remove plastic enclosure, get a key cap remover and remove each cap, then blow/dust away.
My numeric keyboard got turned off inadvertently. I have looked and looked for the solution and haven't been able to find the answer.
If you are referring to the number pad, try pressing the number lock key located at the top of the number pad. If not, try downloading g the Logitech options software, you might be able to configure from there. Good luck!
Where is the botton that clears the screen.
Does it connect to iPad??
Yes, the k860 will connect to iPads.
is there a sleep button?
Hi Mike, unfortunately there is no sleep button on the K860.
I remapped the lock key (the one on the very top right corner) of my Ergo K860 as the sleep button using the Logitech Options
Regarding the French question - you can buy a European version of this keyboard. (And they are generally cheaper!!)
I would buy it if it was not WIFI , do they have a cabled version ? (and if not why...............)
They do not have a cable version. It's bluetooth only. This isn't for gaming so I guess they figure a couple batteries are better than a cable. Coming from someone who only has two usb c ports in my laptop, I'd have to agree with them.
@@CoreyStaden Reason i refuse to use the wireless keyboards and mice is cus they give out high wifi signal readings , which is not good for the body and health
@@CoreyStaden The vast majority of wireless keyboards and mice use Bluetooth and emit a lot of EMF radiation. Instead, it is better to use a wired USB mouse and keyboard. Be sure to turn off Bluetooth on your computer after you you swap them out or you will continue to be exposed to excess radiation.
Health is most most important, cant argue with that! I'd imagine smartphones, and many other daily devices, would fall under that category as well. Thanks for the info.
If anyone knew how badly Logitech supports its customers and continued to purchase their products, it would be due to disposable income or lack of care on their products. I owned a K860 for one year, and a key mysteriously broke due to the clips on the switch separating. They would not offer replacement. I've had similar issues with their mice and failing switches. Best of luck.
Thanks for the comment
Where's the windows button? 😅
Bad keyboard... crap. After 2 years of use (even a little over a year) it begins to fail and cannot be repaired because Logitech does not provide spare parts... the failure is electronic. I'm already checking it with 5 or 6 of these keyboards. It is one of the most expensive keyboards on the market (in Argentina) and it is a shame that they do not support anything.
I don't like your thumbs >:(
