  • Is there a perfect ergonomic keyboard for Mac and Windows users? Probably not, but the Logitech ERGO K860 is pretty close to ticking all the right boxes. It has great battery life, an ergonomic split-key design and a comfy wrist pad.

    I saw this in the movie KIMI, I instantly imitated trying to type on a keyboard of such curvature vs an ordinary keyboard and noticed that my posture really was different and more comfortable when imitating typing on a raised and curved keyboard.

    I've had the Ergo Keys for almost a year and love typing on it. However I've had problems with the volume buttons and connection and have read other user's complaints about that as well. After a bucket load of emails with Logitech in which I asked them for support and a possible exchange of my keyboard they're now sending me a free MX Keys. Seems like they don't support their own product anymore, which is a shame.

    The 6/^ key is on the left side of the split. It belongs on the right-hand side of the split. I have watched three reviews of this keyboard today and not one of you have picked up on this.
    The feet for raising the wrist rest are fragile. Mine were destroyed after about two months.
    The key action, keyboard ergonomics are excellent.
    Thanks to the lack of keyboard back-lighting, I'm still using the original batteries that came with the unit.

      @@Jovansam Did you study touch typing in North America? If the answer is "no", then you don't know what you're talking about.
      FYI: The original Logitech ergonomic keyboard had the 6 key on the right side of the split. And, yes, there are other ergonomic keyboards that have the 6 on the right side of the split. Having the left index finger reach the 4, 5 and 6 is just too much of a reach.

      @@surferdude4487 I own four distinct natural keyboards. The Microsoft, Perixx and Cloud Nine keyboards have the 6/^ key on the left. The Kinesis has the 6/^ key on the right. If you're a touch typist this really shouldn't matter and is easy to get used to one way or the other. Until I saw your post I didn't even notice the 6/^ key placement wasn't consistently positioned.

      @@hblanche I was trained in touch-typing in 1976. I've been touch typing ever since. believe me when I say that it is jarring and inconvenient to use a keyboard with the 6 on the left side of the split.
      Since I have been researching this seemingly trivial subject, I have found out that some European nations do train touch typing to reach for the 6 key with the left hand. I am able to do it, but I do not like it.

      @@surferdude4487 I guess I am one year younger than you. I have touch typed since 1977. And I personally have no problem with the 6/^ key being accessed via either hand. That said, I certainly respect your opinion. If you greatly prefer the 6/^ key to be on the right then this keyboard is not for you.

    Hi. Would this type of keyboard be viable for gaming? The thing is that I have issues with my left wrist, specially between the wrist and the pinky and I have been looking into the curved split design for some time now

    • @pocketlintcom
      @pocketlintcom  3 года назад +2

      I think the only issue with gaming is latency - if you're into games that require fast-reflexes. It's never going to give you a completely lag-free experience because it's not wired, and doesn't use the super fast wireless connectivity like the G915 series. The keys give decent travel and feedback though.

      @surferdude4487 3 года назад

      I have the same problem with my right wrist. Using this keyboard has helped. Good posture, keeping your wrists aligned while you type instead of letting them sit on the surface will also help.

    Good review. Questions I haven’t found answers to online yet:
    1 - Can the FN key between the right ALT and CTRL keys be mapped as the menu key like on most other keyboards?
    2 - What do the buttons all the way on the top right do, and are they programmable?
    Thanks!

    K860 - palm rest Material ?? Is it easy to wipe of dirt easily without damaging the palm rest material. If it is cloth, then for this price, this keyboard is over priced. Cloth type material will wear out very soon.
    Also - keyboard design - How easy is it to clean the keyboard. For example the current keyboard i have, if i drop small food paricles in between the keys space, then i can easily flip upside down and shake slighly wwhich will get the dry food particle outside again ?
    Can you confirm these 2 pointers please ? Consider buying this. But would need this info before deciding.

    • @surferdude4487
      @surferdude4487 3 года назад

      The wrist rest wipes clean with a damp cloth.
      As for the food particles, I would strongly recommend that you do not eat while using any keyboard. Every now and then, I turn the keyboard upside-down and wipe the keys with a damp cloth, then a dry cloth and leave it upside-down until it is dry.
      The maniac on Linus Tech Tips ran his dirty keyboards through the dish washer, but I do not recommend that procedure.

    I bought this almost two years ago... then a month later I upgraded to the now 10year old ms sculpt. The k860 is indeed way to big... plus the typing experience of the ms sculpt is better too... the only downside of the ms sculpt is indeed connectivity and battery life.
    But since there is still no better keyboard on the market I recently bought myself a second ms sculpt for work... it's just that good. Luckily I'm on windows.

    Pocket lint? What a horrible name for a channel. Why would you associate your channel with the annoying grimey material found in your pocket which you immediate want to discard/throw away. On the plus side, I guess the channel could've been titled something relating to bowel movements or mucus, so there's that.
