These ideas are amazing. Man, too bad the cities are so small. I would play forever that expansion if i could build large areas.
why does it look like your city plot is bigger
dev's like to mock everyone
It just looks that way because it's neatly organized, allowing you to fit more buildings into it.
They added Single-Player mode, they should be able to make bigger maps. ONLY ON OFFLINE!
And because the map is so small they have to make mega tower with even greater density of population. Can't imagine living in a bathroom sized apartment unit
Lampuiho LoL =))
***** EA may not make bigger maps but modders might
***** How do you know that they won't? How do you know what' going to happen? They were working on offline ever since they started. They probably started on online first in honor of SC2K, but it was too much to handle.
They mentioned it on their blog
Amazing! Basically, you have two Futures in one: Blade Runner-style and Star Fleet Academy-style!
How dare you compare my beloved starfleet to this trash
Which seems appropriate somehow.
the SimVillage: Villages of The Day After Tomorrow
LOL
bigger map=more people buy it=more income
Simcity is not a game about construction. This is admninistration.
Yea, you have to think of the region as one large mega-city and each city as specialization centers. You are really managing specializations and import/export. Whereas Cities Skylines is not a city building game, it is a road management and people movement game.
The SimCity book is a tough read, but it starts to make sense after a while, and really opens your eyes to how intricate the game actually is, and there really is no comparison to 4.
regions to build a city are very small
Omega Co is EA huh?
How to optimize omega production at omega production line?? 2500 being the capacity, it gradually decreases very low. What are the factors affecting this? (There is always sufficient amount of raw materials available in factory)
I'v'e JUST bought the beta (Like a Minuit ago literally) And I don't know if you have to activate it manually or if it just automatically activates when you start the game. Because unlike when I bought the airships pack when I started Simcity 5 up there was no need to reboot the launcher and launch Simcity 5 again. Please fix this or tell me if it is manually activated EA!
OMG i've just realized that the low wealth mall in the megatowers plays music from the sims when you hover over it. oh the nostalgia!
Great bro! When will we have the Free DLC: Big Cities? Very big scenarios with just one insanely large city?
someone please tell me do people still make mods for this game and does Ea even Work on this game any more i want another dlc with New plop able Mega towers and population options
+Elfish Gaming no, maxis was shut down by ea and part of it was moved to the mobile division maintaining ea's money maker, simcity build't. there were early mods but the community abandoned the game for cityskyline which is far superior in terms of actual city planning experience. i myself only watch other people play it because the game mechanics bore me.

-11,934 an hour from they elite mega tower 3:30 looks like fun ;)
if you have the limited edition bought do you get the DLC free or do you still need to buy it?
Nice city, it’s the same one in the trailer for the expansion. Beautiful.
do they have casino expansion also?
Awesome! I can't wait for these to be released! Alredy Pre-ordered it. For bigger maps i would suggest that there is an option were you select what type of map you want. For example- the one we have one is small. One thats is 3 times bigger is medium. And one the is 5 times bigger is large!
what is that region called (i mean what its called when u select it
Awesome! This video actually made me want to buy this and get back into SimCity again. :) Great work!
what is the configuration of your pc please?
What does your city do on cloudy days when there's no wind or sun for the collectors?
wow, thx, I've been looking everywere for this.
How has the engine been unable to deliver?
Question: if you research new technologies in the Academy, can you build them in other cities in the region straight away? Or is it tied to that one city the Academy is located in?
Academy research is region-wide, so yes. You cannot share technologies across regions, though.
Keredx89 Thanks for the quick reply, I'm gonna put that to good use!
hang on, isn't it only between cities connected to the city by road?
No.
How many can build Mega Tower in 1 city map
miss this game...
can this work with SimCity 4 Deluxe?
So excited! Awesome to see you back Stone! Love the expansion
Why I cant choose what my PC can handle and what not?...
I really enjoyed your thoughts. Very fluent. Thanks for the tips.
Where/When did they say that?
1:28 Wait, Do we have those in the Modern Day world?
O jogo é bom, mas agora está sem recursos, estou jogando com mods (Sensação de nostalgia bate no peito, isso te enche de determinação!)...
In his first city, how did he get the buildings SO tall. They were not megatowers though...
I have some tall like that. its a combo of time and land values. Overtime they get to be very tall as long as you keep everyone happy so they want to expand
I can understand a lot of everybody's opinions on the maps sizes and the bigger lot sizes of the MegaTowers, and so on. However, if you guys have watched the other videos of what the hardcore gamers learned: Each MegaTower is capable of holding 10k+ in Sims, depending on how you build them, I see the potential of them holding maybe 30-40k max if you build a MegaTower with nothing but residential blocks and parks, and with the ability to connect each tower to another with the Skybridge
Ooh, and also problems with sound, when after meteorite rain I have that sound all following game.
what region is this in
There seem to be 2 main complains
Offline Mode - Being worked on
Bigger maps - Likely possible after offline mode
The game works almost exactly as advertised with the exception of a couple of bugs that hardly break the game. Anyone who complains about the traffic most likely hasn't played it in months. And before you all inevitably flag this as spam, I'll say the game is not at all perfect, but given the developers have released a free major update every month since release is a damn good start
The mega tower reminds me a lot of the old arcologies.
The paradox of this expansion is that the cities of tomorrow (or even today) are by far bigger than the villages you can build in this game.
Seems like everything EA touches turns to turd.
What's there to know about this, "arcology"?
What is SkyClops
Just a Fantastic computer game, that suggests and gives us the very bright idea how our future cities would look like in case humanity won't destroys itself in the days to come. I have to underline that most of the future technology item already exists as state-of-art civil technology and shelf off inventions, some of which already are implemented in ultramodern megalopolises.
This video is cool and all but how did you get your city's so handsomely laid out and built in the first place?
they are a Dev, they love to mock people by giving themselves infinite amounts of money and using it to make a city that looks nice, but probably doesn't actually work well
Oh I can't wait until i get this! Have pre-ordered it like I did with the game!
This is really awesome, I cant wait to play it!!!
Only one thing I want to say is to make bigger maps!
That's why there's city specialization, so you can free up maximum space for cities you want to make look good, and it's more about creativity through problem solving. This SimCity is the most intricate one they've ever made, and I hope people would see it for what it is rather than what it should be, because it will grow and get better if people would support the game more since it's a bran new engine, not as large of course but only because it's the most complex.
Well glad I preorder but this is released this is gonna be the longest week ever waiting for it to come out on Friday because I need it so badly :/
Is this a expansion pack?
yep
Now this looks pretty cool. I would love bigger maps but EA/Maxis has already said they won't be doing that because the game would not run smoothly so I guess I'll survive. This expansion looks awesome!
Love you're videos hypno!
This looks so great I cannot wait to play this expansion pack. I know many you do not like the game without bigger maps and offline mode but when you really play the game like its meant to be played its fun. Sure it has bugs but seriously name one game without bugs nowadays? I think with offline mode coming more mods will certainly follow. This cities of tomorrow is such a different take on simcity it's exciting to me. Maxis THIS LOOKS SO AWESOME I WANT IT NOW!!!!
when Indonesia has this game I really want to buy it
What the heck is wrong with the currently supportable city sizes?
I'm a mac user and the maps work fine. It's not even a gaming machine. I'm betting that 75% of players have standard non-gaming rigs. The larger maps are, well, larger, and harder for non-gaming rigs to handle. probably 50% more lag and 95% more complaints, maximum.
I know this is a bit late to tell you and you might know already, but they mean the size limit of the city, not the actual map, people complain that the city size is too small to really work with, and i agree, but i try to find ways around it
I love SimCIty! Eu amo o simcity, eu simplismente eu adoro! I love EA
Well, what Maxis is doing with Simcity Cities of Tomorrow is how the future really will look like actually. In Japan there are already some kind of trains above the floor for example.
I played this game for a few weeks before i quit, the scale of the map make SimCity (2013) easily bored, you will love this game (just like me) but just for a few weeks. SimCity (2013) is still a big breakthrough from the predecessor in terms of graphics though.
Love it!!! Going to buy it!!
I strongly believe that such kind of games should absolutely be taught in modern urbanization studies in universities or whatever there is ...... or be considered for panning and protecting for city developers
Awesome, can't wait!
i am wondering if there is a maximal limit for mega towers in a city. i hope not. i hope not. i am really looking forward to that Addon
wow this looks really good !:) such a shame the maps are not big enough to use any of it
Thx for the Singleplayer that u never whanted to make in this game but its a lil late and the Server Problems are still there -.-
IF you read the blog about the size of the city.Maxis said they WILL NOT expanded the size of the cites due to the limitation on people's computers. They listened about did research on probable improving the size, but turns out by their research it wasn't a good due to consumers computer limitations and also the cities. It you expanded a city that has traffic problems what makes yo think adding more room to a city will improve that.It is just going to make more traffic problems.
The Omega cities look so much better than then Utopian ones. I'm gonna have a whole region of Blade Runner cities ^_^
That's why I said, "majority" who want bigger maps, so that doesn't exclude people who are good at the game.
They said that they will eventually increase the map size, so for now I will enjoy it and try and figure out the best city combinations and specializations. But, man you keep taking what I mean out of context, I'm not going to keep correcting you. I never said I want a more "efficient" city, I said, "intricate".
at some point they will release a DLC for bigger maps which will be very expensive, and they will say "it is expensive because we put a lot of money into the game to allow for bigger cities"- Even though there are mods which allow for city expansion anyway.
The main detail about the game that wasnt covered before release was the map size that's why its such a big fuss.
I would like to see an military base with add ons be added to the game, figure it would go under the same section as the town hall. Tanks and airplanes from the base could be used to fight the ailens and giant lizzard in damages mode like the cops are used to fight the zoobie attacks.
man, that would be cool. maybe they could do a special futuristic army base for the EP, with like laser tanks and futuristic fighter jets.
That whould be cool we shoul ask Maxie's and ea to do that.
They're not making bigger maps but instead they're adding more verticality allowing for more usage of the limited space the cities have, appreciate that cuz in a sense they are making cities larger by adding verticality
Looks awesome we love the work you guys do, but do we get sylvestor stallone and Wesley snipes in this one?
I'm saying it seems likely, because if you know how to play the game, then you would be trying to solve all of the issues and making different multi cities, and there's a ton of ways to do so, and it's fun trying to think of all the ways to deal with the issues. Even the original creator, Will Wright had a tough time playing the game, and he even said it, but he said that's what was fun about the game, being creative through problem solving, being more about quality cities rather than quantity.
This latest bug I discovered is causing my gameplay experience to suck. When playing single player, the great work (Arcology) is not showing up in the other cities. I wanted to have one city do the metal and alloy and another city do the TVs. But I can't get my TV city to recognize the arcology. Why are we getting a new expansion on a buggy game?
Everyone wants bigger maps, but SimCity said that at the moment they physically can't do it! This is because the Glass Box Engine (Behind the Game) can't manage it. The would have to re-root everything taking time. It would also mess up all of the regions at current. If they use the money made from DLC's to invest in the game it can't be a bad thing. I know there are a lot of issues and can agree but if people are that bothered the Blog explains all. They are however working on an offline mode.
What real world city does this actually simulate?
Why would you have an expansion pack at the beginning? That is the whole point of an expansion pack to give you new content and things later on after the game is released.
Those tower things will HELP with the small maps, but map size is still a MAJOR problem
1:26 or a water pump station and a sewage treatment plant adjacent to each other works as well xD
Way to go my friend... it could not be explained better.... completely agree with you!
The hight of those towers are more then the width of the citys you can build.
Well as you can see the mega towers seem there attempt to compesate for small towns. I really hope they will make bigger maps.
They are working on Offline mode. and GlassBox is being altered for bigger maps. they say it will be done by late 2014
Maxis has said that anything that helps the simulation or other core gameplay assets will not be sold as DLC and so far they seem to be following through on that. So offline mode, bigger maps and other potential updates will be free.
They say they can't do bigger maps because of performance issues (at least, that's what I've seen from their posts). That, however, is a silly prospect.
There are mods you can download that allow you to build outside the current city borders. Performance and calculations? Not a problem.
It's an artificial limit they're creating and upholding. Loosing them alot of people too.
Same thing with offline mode. Swap a file, and boom, you're in offline mode. Hardly that hard to do...
Cite your sources, show me what they're really offloading to their DRM servers that is so vital to the gameplay experience yet which can tolerate internet speed latency and which the game can run perfectly fine without if you use the Chinese offline crack?
I think, once they allow modding and offline mode, we are going to be delivered BIG ASS MAPS :D, they stated that they ceased work on bigger city maps :D
Go big hopes for modding though ^_^
There will never be bigger maps, if you read the last blog, the engine just can't handle it, though what they are thinking about doing is making the cities closer together like it was in SC4 to make it look like actual cities.
I like that they added SimTower in this game.
I really want this but the map size kills it for me. I would love to have a huge city with the megatowers. I'll probably pick this up when it goes on sale.
Looks fantastic!
You can already covert wast water into drinking water in the game. Place water pumps near the treatment plant. The treatment plant pumps clean water into the ground.
Any One Else notice the DEV mode. He lit the fusion plant with no controlNET
And btw I didn't say that they want it easier, I meant that they play sandbox mode, which is easy, and it's very unlikely that the people complaining about bigger maps actually think about ways to deal with all the problems that arise, I mean if you think about it, why would someone want to deal with the same problems on a much larger scale? That would be crazy, so I assume most people who complain about map size just play sandbox mode, since most people cant really keep Sims in their city.
So when are you going to increase the city size? It seems like it would be fun if only it weren't so incredibly small....
you can put malls and other offices, and utilities in another tower, and all the sims just walk from one tower to the other...and yes they may be bigger in lot sizes, but you can fit more vertically rather than on flat land, and you can build as many towers as you want in the city, so if you want 1 city to have nothing but MegaTowers, then you can do it once you have the roads the way you want them and have atleast 50k sims the city before you start building the towers in order to pay for them
the map size is fine... if you play this simcity with simcity4 in mind of course you need bigger map...
If it was the only sim city game out there I would still complain about the map sizes. There is just enough space for you to construct the equivalent of a village in real life. It is a city simulator, I'm supposed to be able to rebuild tokyo if I want to.
Amazing Expansion Pack.
Here a good question? Does it comes with Bigger Map Sizes Too...
Why does this remind me of some game green vs industrial
This expansion is pretty much Anno 2070 2.0 which. Is kind of good it makes me want to pick it up.
