- The Academy and OmegaCo battle for control of the future in the official SimCity Cities of Tomorrow launch trailer.
Available November 12, 2013. Pre-order SimCity Cities of Tomorrow: bit.ly/17Mxt4F
What kind of Mayor will you be in the Cities of Tomorrow? Will the city you build bask in the glow of a lush, urban utopia? Or will profits surge from the Simoleons generated by powerful corporate metropolises? As cities build to the skies and transform, can a balance be struck with both? It's up to you to decide in SimCity Cities of Tomorrow Expansion Pack.
I like how EA is projecting it's business model INTO the game.

This comment aged so well!
I just saw this comment and the trailer itself. Undeniably similar in every ways.. LOL
"It's the tree's fault for growing in the way of YOUR factories!"

1:50 is just a blatant lie. You can't build anywhere near that size in Sim City due to the stupid plot restrictions...
theres another city behind it, those tricky bastards >:(
its a trailer. leave it alone.
lego warrior Its our game, E.A. should leave it alone.
Plus it said it didnt show the actual gameplay
ENOUGH!!!
Hahahaha is EA laughing at itself? "Where did all this green come from? Out of your pocket." "Pro Pro Money" This is far most the most hilarious trailer i have ever seen.
Not laughing at themselves, laughing at it's fanbase/customers. They're laughing all the way to the bank.
Of course you can't manage both.... the maps are too damn small...
I know this is an old comment but I just tried to manage both and you're 100% correct. It's doable but not worth it. Looks nice tho
I usually manage both, and make more than 100.000 per hour. In fact, using both is the best. If you wanna know how (idk if u are reading this, this comment is old) answer this comment and tag me, my explaination could be long.
@@TomasGomila Sure mate!
@@TomasGomila sure!

I suggest manage both. Omegaco's huge profits could handle academy's expenses.
Loool
I do both. I feel that the two go hand in hand actually. Among your cities, you have two objectives. One of them is to make the most profitable city, which OmegaCo helps out on a lot, and the other is to make your citizens happy, which is what the Academy does quite a bit of, but it seems to me that one can't function at its fullest without the other. Academy cleans up OmegaCo's pollution mess really well and OmegaCo helps pay for Academy's expensive services, and I mean REALLY EXPENSIVE! When OmegaCo doesn't support income, it provides security with a robotics division which is actually really useful.
EDIT: Just realized that if you put a waste reduction level on every MegaTower and you supply said MegaTowers with OmegaCo, you can actually profit from the waste they produce as such waste becomes recyclable.
very true, plus some of the omagco megatower levels require controlnet.
lego warrior I don't remember that. I do remember having a mix of ControlNet and drones unlocking a disaster.
I tried this idea but it was too expensive to mine for the ore and oil. I figured importing it with a trade center would me more expensive. Any tips?
Jj Nelson Concentrate on harvesting oil and ore first and try to earn petition to build smelting factories, oil refineries, and processor factories. Those three factories are essential to any trade. Make sure that in earlier stages you use less coal than ore since you would need ore more frequently than coal and obtain ore at the same rate as oil. The coal you're not using could be used for your coal power plant. Plus, make sure you build the Academy in one place and an OmegaCo Headquarters in another place. Concentrate hard on trying to earn petition for headquarters upgrades. Do so and you can get rich very quickly before you know it.
MonguinAssassin Ok, thank you very much.
the map size of the city shown in 1:51 is like 1000x the current map size in the game.
So a four tile cities:skylines city

And game which had lot of freedom in development (cities skylines) and other one very strict development (simcity).
Yep its very arrogant.
But still simcity bring some good things and some other details and functions than cities skylines.
Both are good games.

Lucky you, im getting it in a few days, im so excited! I played standard edition for a while and im finally get cities of tomorrow
would you extend map size first, please?
I said a lot of times but whatever
All of this is EA's fault
Maxis wanted to use a whole region as a city map but they needed more time to optimize the game but EA did not gave them time at all
RIP huge city

WHEN IS THERE GOING TO BE BIGGER SPACES TO BUILD CITIES, the game would be 1,000 times better if we had huge plots of land to build cities!!!!!!
***** It would help i they supported modding.
no one bitched about sim city 4's plot division so why are we starting now >.>
You wanna know why? because the plots in simcity 4 WERE HUGGEEE , have you even played simcity 4 before? Cuz then you would know that they had huge plots to build your cities
Cravingollie lol i was playing sim city 4 while typing it but there was more small and medium size plots then huge plots hence why i asked cause you can fill up those plots quite quickly as well
and the modders did it

Am I the only one who deeply feels that OmegaCo are the REAL good guys? I mean think about it! With all of the paperwork we have in the world, the chaos and injustice that comes from expectancy and false hopes, automation in all things SHOULD be the way of the future! If people can't accept religion to be the proper source of a just government, perhaps the cyberpunk genre shall be made into a reality! I mean automation can solve a lot of problems. Mankind is not built to follow orders like machines. DNA is not a microchip!

Good job EA. I don't think I've ever seen a video with more dislikes than likes that wasn't blatantly offensive.
I mistakenly pre-ordered SimCity hoping for a game much like the original and SimCity 2000. What I got was an unplayable, limited, buggy insult to the legacy of the SimCity franchise. The always online requirement, I can forgive. What I can't forgive is the insultingly small plots of land we're given to build our "city."
You should've change the name of the game to SimSuburbs, because that's in essence what was delivered. If we wanted to increase the size of our population, we would have to build a separate Suburb and import goods and services from them so we could demolish the buildings that provided those services to maximize our real estate. That or we pray that the AI took the clue when we demolished a city block and built something bigger/better.
I also remember picking out the most diverse landscapes I could find. Lakes, rivers, mountains, islands. I wanted all of them in my city, but with the tiny, in comparison, plots of land we have in the new SimCity, any of those things would just limit what we could build even more.
Thank you for ruining what could've been a fantastic game.
Good luck with your expansion, until I know that this is an improvement instead of just an addon, I will not be purchasing this product.
I actually like the game and the expansion :)
Times change, and so do games if they kept it at all similar to simcity 2000 I would be pretty ashamed.
Brent Matheson You are ignorant.
it is actually now a perect game because of the modding comunity
OHH WOOOW I will totally play this !!!
...
as soon as you put it on steam.
Screw Origin >_> apparently it can't handle online gaming
booo, i prefer steam to origin, but anything thats on origin, im pretty sure will never be on steam, because origin is EA specific, steam is not...
Okay, here is something for you on that behalf:
Steam is owned by Valve which is widely known for its Half Life series and therefore Portal as well. Let Steam's Aperture robots combat Origin's OmegaCo. Who wins? You decide!
actually the normal megatowers blend with the omegaco while the elite megatowers blend with the academy
Lets be honest, most of these technologies are currently exist and in development in real life.
The most exciting one is the fusion reactor, one is being built at the time this comment is posted
Thing is those technologies cost a LOT of money to even put the infrastructure down
That side-by-side view of both factions gave me an idea. A city with 2 highway entrances! No need to make the factions drift apart, just don't connect them!

while that is true, SimCity 3 owns 4 hard xD the maps in 4 are too small! unlike 3 :)
"They promise you GOOD games and GOOD experiences. But where does all this GOOD come from? Your CONSTANT CONNECTION TO THE INTERNET."
This would be amazing if the maps were much larger, had more than one entrance and I did not have to rely on an online server to manage transport of resources between cities.

This trailer would be 100x better if they spoke in similish and only displayed subtitles.
Maxis have always been good at listening to their audience and adapting, look at the Sims every edition has gotten better and better. Sims 4 looks awesome. A company as big as EA will almost definitely have a say in the development process, they think long run profit margins first.
OKAY I HAVE HAD ENOUGH! You people want to know why there isn't big maps. Theirs an article on the SimCity web site that talks all about why they can't do it-
The blog entry is called "State of SimCity"
Please stop asking. Thanks!
here's a rap about cities of tomorrow hope you like it:
simcity! in beginning it all seemed rather sh***y, from lauch there were many bugs, and as my teacher would say "oh what a pitty"
but now the dlc thrust us into the futrure and you can actually run it on your own computer,
omega co supply us with industry mining and drilling are definately history,
mega towers the ultimate building allow us to sprawl up to the sky with no tilting,
the academy brings us clean technology so all the garbage protesters owe us an apology,
maglevs make travel easy, you can go place to place whithout wheezy, plus sips_ finds them rather sleezy,
so this new expansion offers a new begginning but for EA and MAXIS it's only the first inning!
sewage sanatisers allow us to drink our own waste, so go one and get one but do it with haste,
augmented shafts allow us to drill at an accelearted rate, but it's draining mother earth so the hippies are kicking down our gate,
but watch out here comes a killer robot with a mission to destroy, so you better get out your flippin bb guns boy,
the people are getting fed up of globally socializing, so omega co are creating drones for people to do their buying,
is it wise to stuff a nuclear reactor into a small space, i don't know but omega co just keep going on about the generation pace,
omega towers now have epic crowns, but you wont be seeing any kings roaming around in gowns,
to be honest i quite like this expansion pack, so i think it's time we protagonists stop the EA attack!
BlockyGamersLeague Beautiful.
Maxis, it might be in your best interest to listen to your audience and find a way to make bigger maps. If it wasn't for the annoying map size, this would be a great game. Think of it this way...
Small maps = losing players (including me) = losing money
Larger maps = gaining players (including me) = making money
Notice how they try to make the map look bigger than it actually is, by putting the camera at an angle and having the other cities around that city they were filming have buildings and megatowers.
I love SimCity 5 and can't wait to get the cot pack. Here's to clear up a few things
1-EA has said no bigger maps because the game is based on a denser and smaller city. And also because of computer specs. A lot of people won't able to play with lower specs.
2-stereotypes??? Those are just like the voices you'd see on commercials. And who'd you imagine to lead each side.
3-complaints. A lot of you haven't played the game. Or played it when it first came out. Its getting a lot better. And everyone who complains about EA making high prices, i don't like it either. But they are like every other company.
Modders said bigger maps ,and they actually made bigger maps
I want to ask when this simcity is in Indonesia
I love the Blade Runner Reference.
I hope they keep the multiple entrances concept that they're supposed to be trying with the new regions in the coming update. Would hate to see all of these cool towers in my city but have a gridlocked entrance.
yea i cant complain, for those of you that ARE complaining then don't get the game? Or how about this for an idea. Don't pay for it!? There's simple solutions to everything. for those of you that are also complaining about being poor, manage your spending and save up. Everything these days costs money, you should be used to it and adapt. Its only always going to be this way from here on. This game is an environmentally amazing and beautiful game. EA, like every other gaming industry, is going to have there Pros and Cons. Stop taking the bad of is and making it what the games about. Take it for whats its worth and go from there. Stop complaining!
People will stop complaining when the game is playable. Not everyone has $60 to spend on what ever the hell they want.
That is true and i agree but that's how much any game costs now unless you buy a Wii or 3DS game. With the advancements of technology and in the gaming industry there always going to ask for money. Also it would be way worse and EA could actually have people pa less but pay for online. You're Right, not everyone has $60 to spend but there's always a way around everything
jesse Rodriguez PC games actually go down in price as time passes. Mostly AAA, some AA, and a few indies do this. EA does not really practice this. Not to mention the lack of sales which usually allow you to buy $350 worth of games for only $90. Simcity is broken and EA has failed to fix the product. The fact that these people have not gotten refunds is honestly appealing.
I took a lot of programming classes in college and one thing many of them always said was, "You can do anything you want in programming, there is always a way."
1:50 this is the second time i've seen bigger maps size in trailer, but not in game
I Love this game, is very compatible to my low end laptop while cities skyline dont, you make a very great job developer, improve better okay!
Oww nice comment bro but Maxis (the developers) were shut down by EA (the owners) a long time ago
And hey just a cool fact
If you think that the cities spaces are small then blame EA
Because maxis idea was to use the whole region as one single city but they needed more time to make it work but EA did not cared at all and they had to launch the game as it is
@@awake7586 this is just sad
This expansion is basicaly building up the entirety of your small little plot you get to be able to upkeep and staff the reserch facility, and then you wait for hours at a time for it to finish reserching individual buildings while you do nothing (maybe micromanage), because you already ran out of space in your plot.
I thought it was bad enough for me to need to sit and watch my city do things when i was building those region projects. This is literaly like watching paint dry.
Doesnt matter though, its not like EA cares, and they already have my money, so... i should have gotten Cities: Skylines straight away.
This expansion looks good. Why are people disliking? I can understand that you guys may not like EA, but come on this looks like a good expansion.
That should be a gift for all users who pre-ordered sim city and beta tested it for 6 month after release!
This is super cool concept :)
I like where Simcity is going.
When I heard about this game, I went out to buy a copy! Then I saw this video after I arrived home, and was glad I kept the receipts cause I'm returning this garbage.
What video card do you have and what are your graphics settings. Not really a good comparison if you do not have every setting maxed out. I have everything maxed out and my $2000 gaming rig starts to lag a little bit when I get near a 500k city. I think WanderingFilms is right, read his comment. Remember not everyone has a $2000/euro gaming rig. It's not playable at Max settings on my wife's $400 computer. Obviously they want more than just the Computer Elite's to be able to play it.

What region/city is the academy in the trailer at :P
I am 14 yrs old I was playing SimCity Build-it
Your sarcasm aside, some of us like the maps the size they are. Future cities can not and will not have the sprawl that today's cities have. After the removal of government subsidies that force the population into economically and ecologically unsustainable suburbs, the market forces will eventually cause cities to look more like urban model of Hong Kong - a very dense area surrounded by undeveloped parkland. Just like the maps SimCity. Which is awesome, in my opinion.
does it come with collector's edition?
They try there best to get us bigger maps (which wont happen due to performance issues) which is a downside, but Im ok with it cause this game is fun. Im glad I bought this and cant wait for it :D
Why does ea always have to bring out expansion packs. Why don't you just update it?
But for someone seeing SimCity for the first time on that advert may think it's a huge metropolis (which it should be).
Funny trailer, awesome game, even better expansion! nice job!

No, Sim City 4 is the older game, this is Sim City 2013,if you want this expansion pack then you must buy Sim City 2013 on Origin and then purchase cities of tommorow. I wouldn't recommend it for the price though. The expansion costs $20

Okay, you're too late with your comment. I play Cities Skylines now, having a lot of fun doing what real cities do.
"Saw this game on the front page, never knew about it.
As of writing this review, I've only played for six hours and I've already restarted four times because the streets weren't straight enough and I went into debt rebuilding them.
PROS:
No EA.
No EA Origin.
Did I mention no EA involved?
Also no EA.
-New land purchasing now gives players a choice of when and where to expand, not just confining them to a small square of limited development.
-Road tools give players much more freedom to create and weave around the city, upgrading also made easy as well. (Simcity 2013's upgrade roads had an idea going but you had to level an entire street to get anywhere, completely negating the point)
-Being able to relocate a civil building for much cheaper than destroying removes the hassle of trying to redo roads around a public service due to a single building.
-Still has well-working fluid and sewage dynamics, taking what SimCity 5 attempted with their pollution system and actually turning it into something good.
-Parks affect the lives of citizens without taking ungodly amounts of space, and much like a real park one large park that is easily accessible more than a few hundred small parks all around the city wasting space. (cough cough SimCity 2013)
-Even though the water dynamics are a little rough as of right now, the game still gives an option for a hydroelectric dam; a feat previously impossible in SimCity 2013 and unimaginably difficult in SimCity 4.
The only thing I don't like about this game so far?
@Developers#The #twitter-like #announcements #and #the #constant #usage #of #hashtags (I get the point but I feel like my city is composed of preteens.)
So far and still hours later, 10/10.
**EDIT 5/23/2015**
I've found that the developers of the game themselves are very active and receptive in their own community at r/citiesskylines and actually listen to their users.
Developers also cranked out FREE and well-done DLC, like it's supposed to be.
Game still kicks ♥♥♥!"

The following is the exact quote I could agree with 100% as to why I play this game. I wanted SimCity to be good because I played SimCity 2000, 3000, and 4, but it makes me frustrated every time I play it. I couldn't even get the Space Center working without manually modding the game.
They are selling this while there is still hundreds of bugs in the base game, and people will buy it! Amazing.
Man i hope the next simcity they will make bigger maps, people are so pissed off
Apparently you don't read their blogs... If they made bigger maps everyone's shitty little computers would explode because they couldn't handle what would take the game to run. This expansion lets you build up instead of out... which does the same thing.
How can you build stuff I cant even connect to a server With I have a grate network.
I'm one to go green, but I do think the OmegaCo trailer is funny.
Honestly I would pay for a DLC that would include bigger maps and an offline mode.
This kinda reminds me of the Anno factions...
Meanwhile at EA Headquaters : "Guys we do not have enough money, we should make a dlc and start selling it for 20 €." Random scumbag employee : "How about making it more expensive than original game ? maybe 50 € ?" EA: " Yep , much better."
