As I’v already mentioned I love this filter so much. Definitely a great piece of kit. Easy to set up and maintain and just does an amazing job. The pre filter is such an added bonus. I use the spray bar on my hill stream as the fish love the flow. I would not use any other filter now.
@@Calwinn - Still loving the filter. Definitely wouldn’t buy any other filter now. Just easy to set up and maintain. Keeps my hill stream aquarium super clean and my fish love the flow. The pre filter does a lot of the work. Highly recommend. Hope this helps.
I recently setup an UN planted tank and decided to go with UN's canister filter, and I wish I hadn't and went with Oase instead. UN by my research was supposed to be quiter, and that was true for the first month or so, then it got really loud. After having cleaned the canister at least a few times it still is too loud. I've been in the reefing hobby for 20 years and currently have a large reef, so I'm not some newb that is unaware of how these motors are supposed to sound overtime. Looks like I'll be switching to Oase, like I should've from the start.
Thank u for another great video, just about to install my 250 today only issue is it doesn't fit in my cabinet lol Didn't realise how much bigger it is compared to my fluval 207 but I'm sure it's a hell of a lot better 😀
No problem and thanks for the kind words. I know, I was the same. I went from 206/207's and much prefer the oase filters. My fluvsl filters would fall apart eventually 😩
Cheers for the video pal. How do you stop the water from flowing back from the tank when go to change the pre-filter. Does operating the lock stop the flow or is it simply done by turning the power off and loosing the suction? Great video and thanks a lot
Thanks very much mate. There are 2 blue clips. You have to turn the one to stop the flow before you can open the other which releases the pre filter. Glad you enjoyed the video 🙏
Hi, i have a quick question, can you pls let me know if i can place the inlet and outlet pipes opposite each other pls, opposite direction on each side of the tank? One on each side of the tank? Or do they Have to be next to each other? Thanks
That is possible and lots of people do it. Its just a case of keeping an eye on the flow and making sure you're happy with debris being collected and having even flow throughout the aquarium 👍
I’ve looked and cannot find a flow rate control mechanism on the filter. The manual on page 28 gives a max flow rate of 900 liters per hour. Not a great help since they don’t give a flow rate when set on minimum. My main issue with this filter is no guidance on this.
I've set mine up on a 90 litre tank so I don't think the flow would be too strong for you. It all depends on your stocking really. What are you keeping in there? I always recommend bigger is better when it comes to filtration 👍
hey stones are better because they hold more bacteria since they have more pores and micro surface ridges but sponges would do just fine no need for stones
Have an Eheim 350+ with a pre pre filter inlet only had it a month 😅very happy with it . The other Eheim professional 350, which I had 8 years I broke one of the fittings at the top of the pump so had to buy a new filter. This filter looks interesting. Might be my next one after the Eheim if it breaks down Great video
Nice one Jon! Are there any downsides to having so much filtration (other than the effect of flow on the fish), and also how do you choose the type of biological media you use?
Cheers Tim! Personally I don't think you can over filter really but the flow may decide how big of a filter you can go. I will always choose a ceramic media for Canister filters. Seachem matrix has the most surface area for beneficial bacteria so that would be my go to. Are you doing research for your aquarium? 😆
@@JonsRainforestRoom always doing research Jon! You’ll like my next vid, you get a mention early on. For the FBT filter I used alphagrog, basically because people recommended it for the price, and I needed quite a lot. I did find a youtuber selling something which was supposed to be amazing, but went with the alphagrog in the end. There’s likely to be an aquatic amphibian at some point, so worth asking the question. Oh, do you need some more FBTs? Think there’s going to be some excess here soon!
Just watched your new vid. Stunning little geckos mate! I've never used that method but seen you do this with the FBT paludarium. Ohhh what are you getting mate? Are you going to go with a canister filter for that? If you are looking for media that's a bit more affordable, crushed lava rock is great. Are you getting some breeding action from your FBT's? At the moment I won't with the one being separated but defibately in the future 👍
Hey mate. I use a 350 on my 50 gallon downstairs and think I could go a bit bigger but there are some larger fish in there, rainbow fish, angelfish, sailing plec etc. What are you stocking your 40 with?

Definately agree mate! I just want one of each lol. Just setup the filtosmart thermo 100 on the 30c. Another great filter 👍
@@JonsRainforestRoom the heater is necessary if the room temperature does not fall below 22 in winter. I can buy the non thermo version much cheaper.
Hey Marcus. Wanted to follow up on this old comment, how is the filter? Still holding up?

German tech awesome filter!!!!!! great video
Thanks very much 👍
How does the heater work? Separate cord and power button? Or single power cord for the entire filter?
It's a separate cord.
Thanks. Your video was helpful!
Can I use these on my 100 litres tank it’s 40 cm tall
Is the outflow adjustable?
hi i want a big shallow tank but can not find any videos that show how big and long the bits that go inside the tank.could i cut them shorter

I'm curious to know why you don't wish to use ceramic media bag supplied with the filter? Is it cheap quality???

Hello, Can another heater also be installed? Or does he just want his original?
Is it enough for a 130 liter tank?
Biomaster terhmo 250 ?
Can I get away with a 250 on a 40 gal?
I assume this would be overkill on a ~11g tank? I currently run a sponge filter with a heater, and just hate how ugly they look in the tank

@@hydroplaneing It's not plainly stated but you CAN use the locking lever as flow control. As long as it doesn't go all the way, it's still locked.

The outlet pipe not necessarily has to be on the outside right? Can i sink the outlet pipe in?
Great review, how’s it holding up? How much Matrix did you add per basket please? Just wondering how much I should order.
Hi dude, awesome video.
Does the outlet of the filter need to be underwater when you prime the filter?

Is it possible to attach 150 or 200 w heater in biomaster250? Our only 100w is possible?

Is the flow strong enough to circulate the tank?
Yes it does a great job for the length of the tank. But since I added some clown killifish I have added a glass lily pipe that slows the flow down 👍

What is the benefits of using the Matrix?
The flow is top down, you have your media in the wrong order. See Oase diagrams.
I’m pretty sure he did sponge, bio media, bio media, sponge. Even if he puts them other way around it would be the same order :D
