    Any tips on how to get this filter started? I am new to cannisters filters and every time I want to rinse the filter out which seems to be every couple weeks (I have a turtle) I am cleaning the whole tank because I have to manually start the inflow by siphoning it to make it start.

    Why U use Biomedia as first Contact for the Water? Wouldnt it be better to keep the original Sponge in Chamber 1 to collect Debris? and the Biomedia in the Bottom of Chamber 2 and 3 and on top of the middle Chamber some Purigen or other chemical, before Water goes out? I think this would be more efficiant.

    Thanks for the in depth review. Am looking to pick one of these up for a new tank. You mentioned replacing the inlet and outlet with glassware. Would doing this mean having to connect them directly to the piping and therefore remove the flow control valves? And if so would there be a different way to control flow?

    • @JonsRainforestRoom
      @JonsRainforestRoom  3 года назад

      Hey, thanks for watching my video 😁. You can get glass outlet pipes that loop the water around to dispurse the flow. So you can still do this but you wouldn't be able to use the flow adjusters on the oase intake and outtake then 👍

    • @JonsRainforestRoom
      @JonsRainforestRoom  2 года назад +1

      Thanks very much and glad you enjoyed the video. This would be a great filter for a 45p. I have a 45p but have a 200 on it but the filter sits a good 5 foot under the tank so I need something bigger. In terms of cleaning, it depends on the stocking but I've cleaned mine maybe twice since I've had it 👍

    Hi, I'm using this filter on my Cube Garden 30, and is perfect. I'm going to replace the filter of my old Askoll pure led M, removing the cover and installing this Oase 100 thermo, the tank is working since 2 and half year, do you think will be ok to add media from the existing filter to the new and replace filtration? Or do I need to let them run together for a couple of weeks?

    • @JonsRainforestRoom
      @JonsRainforestRoom  3 года назад +1

    • @JonsRainforestRoom

    I have an oase. Probably the most inconvenient filter I’ve ever owned in my 15 years of experience. Honestly the one complement I have for it is the internal heater. Other than that I would steer clear. If you’re using the factory media, you’re going to need to clean this thing weekly at the minimum. The connection between the hoses and the canister has broken after four months of operation, making it extremely difficult to get a seal between the hoses and the filter. The filter is constantly slowing after about a week after cleaning. I am very disappointed in this filter. I expected more as I paid over $300 (American) for it. Hope this helps somebody out who’s debating on purchasing an oase.

    • @JonsRainforestRoom
      @JonsRainforestRoom  2 года назад +2

      Yes I did in the end. I can't adjust the flow with the filter anymore but I used a spin glass lily pipe that reduces the flow and it does a good job. I don't find the adjust option on the original hoses do that much to be honest
