    How did i miss this piece!? Wonderfully depicted.. All the aspects were covered. As Greg mentioned - there is no where on RUclips so detailed!
    Every step
    1. Position to return
    2. Movement when flicked
    3. Footwork
    4. Return / finish
    Everything is so important to take control
    👌🏽 very nicely described

    Thank you guys for the video !!! I have been slowly working on having my starting point getting right up to the line . Right now I am closer than 1 foot (around 22cm) I have found that as I work my way closer it takes me quite some time to get used to my judgment on shorter serves. Because I’m closer to the net I have even less time for good judgment on short serves.. but over time I get better
    Your first serve return video was super helpful to me and I’m sure once I work on the points from this video I will be even better at service return

    Great Video Jenny and Greg. I came across your channel just a few days ago and found your videos very educational and helpful. Some players in doubles game at my club serve from the side gallery near the service line. Thus creating a flight path where most of the time the shuttle is flying over the wrong (partners side) court and just entering my side near the back gallery. Not knowing, if the service will fall on the wrong side, I usually play it late. This serve is almost never seen in international matches, which means it can be easily countered and is therefore not adopted. However, I am yet to figure out, if I should take it early or stick with my approach. While receiving, slight modification in position is also required to be able to respond to this serve. Can you share your views on how to respond to this serve. Thanks 👍🏻

    • @bisco5225
      @bisco5225 2 года назад

      Please share the tactics if you hear back from them. It is frustrating to return these serves. I did notice some players pause for a split second to change the direction of this forehand serve. Which seems to be the fault. And many of them will take extra time which considers being delaying and should be a fault. We know that at the club level many don't follow the rules.

    How can Mohammed Ahsan seem so, laid back & casual at return of serve, yet be so quick!!!?
    Whereas others, like,say, Chris Langridge look so obviously “aggressive” in their stance?

      @@BadmintonInsight You're too young! 😋
      The Sidek or 'S' serve is illegal these days but until they changed the rules it was a very effective weapon, particularly for the Sidek brothers.
      Essentially, hold the shuttle upside-down and hit the feathers first with a strong slice.

    Now I understand why my opponent flick serves me all the time. After I smash my partner stays still expecting me to land on my feet, run, & get their return at the net.

    To receive flick serve you are standing too close to front white line. What if the server flicks bird over your head on your left? Whatever you do the server will be 100% ready to kill your shot on the court.

    • @BadmintonInsight
      @BadmintonInsight  3 года назад

      If they flick it you need to be explosive to jump behind it and smash it 💥 if you can’t do this, we would recommend standing further back. But as we say in the video, the closer you can stand to the service line the better 👍🏼
